Ace didn't have time to think and ran away.
He should have realized that the meat skewers were still on the table, meaning the person couldn't have gone far. If he didn't leave now, he might not be able to leave at all.
This time it was Avery's turn to be puzzled: "Why aren't you eating it? Dad saved it especially for you..."
Back in his little den, Avery stroked the ripped tarpaulin, deciding he wasn't going to play hide-and-seek anymore. He repaired the tent and turned on the scent-tracking robot.
These robots are tiny, equipped with mechanical wings as thin as cicada wings. They are not fast, but they can traverse most terrains, and steep rock walls are like flat ground to them.

What was that sound?
Ace investigated upon hearing the sound, which seemed to be coming from outside. Immediately afterward, a small creature with glowing red eyes appeared before him, resembling a mutated insect. Ace reacted swiftly, and the object, encased in ice, fell to the ground.
"Beep beep beep beep beep"
The cries grew more frequent and urgent. Ace knew something was wrong and threw the ice block away forcefully.
It didn't hit the ground, but it hit a person.
It was the person he saw that day, wearing a white robe, extremely tall; Ace could only see his belt from inside the stone wall.
A heavy belt studded with various gemstones hung around his waist, accentuating his slender figure. His legs were exceptionally long, hidden beneath his white robe as the fabric swayed, and the gemstones and beads jingled with each step.
"Come out, little one." The tone was both teasing and coaxing.
Ace's face darkened. What did they take him for?
