Chapter 217 The Child's Father is My Partner

The weather was indeed quite nice on February 16th.

Zheng Lanxiang got up, pulled back the curtains, and raised her hand to shield her eyes from the glaring sunlight, unusually refusing to say a kind word.

She muttered to herself, finally catching her daughter in bed. She wondered what she'd been up to these past few days, never home. The children even asked her, "Does Mom have another child outside?"

Zheng Lanxiang: "...That's not true."

Looking at the still-closed bedroom door, she stood there for a while, then muttered, "Didn't you say you were going? Why aren't you up yet?"

Jiang Jianli was overjoyed to have a son, and he was willing to show off all the money he had saved from work. He had been rooted in the city for many years and had many friends and colleagues. Since they were willing to come and support him, he was naturally willing to treat them well. The full moon celebration included three meals, with noodles for breakfast.

Huang Li had ordered the sheep when she was pregnant, and they are now plump. She hired a chef to build a clay stove for the banquet. The yard in front of the villa is large, so they temporarily borrowed someone else's place. Knowing that Jiang Jianli works on a nearby farm, everyone was willing to give him face.

The full moon banquet unfolded, turning the entire mountain red.

Quite a few people came in the morning. The soup was made with fresh and clear mutton, and the noodles were topped with oil. In the February or March weather, a sip of this soup warmed you from head to toe.

"Another bowl, please!"

"Okay, okay, there's still some in the pot. I bought a whole sack of flour." Jiang Jianli was as busy as a spinning top. In the morning, all the people who came were colleagues, friends, and neighbors from the neighborhood. He had to greet each one and exchange pleasantries with them, and he couldn't leave anyone out.

Huang Li is not a local. Only two people came to her house. They weren't particularly close, just there to show up. They are sitting inside looking after the children.

"His daughter didn't come, did she?"

Huang Li, wearing a maternity hat, leaned against the bed. Childbirth had strained her back, so Jiang Jianli specially had a small pillow sewn for her to support her back. Holding warm water in his hands, he smiled and said, "You said you'd come, but you didn't... people won't laugh at me."

Her sister-in-law and brother's wife smiled ingratiatingly.

When Huang Li came to Anshi, a small place, they really looked down on him. But life is good. His new son-in-law is kind and gentle, his ex-wife doesn't cause trouble, and his stepdaughter doesn't get in his way. Life is so smooth. He doesn't have to worry about anything, and he even has people take care of his children.

Sometimes, you really have to believe in fate, otherwise you'll feel resentful.

The number of people decreases around 10 a.m., and they come back for the main meal at 12 p.m. After the guests leave, the chefs get really busy, washing vegetables in basins the size of bathtubs, and focusing on a big pot of stew.

Huang Li glanced out from upstairs, rolled her eyes, and went back inside to complain: "I used to dream of having a banquet at a grand hotel, with everyone wearing suits and ties, gleaming floors, and crystal chandeliers overhead. Look at this now." She pointed outside: "It's like the countryside. I don't even want to go down."

Her sister-in-law and brother's wife exchanged a glance: Hehe.

At ten o'clock, Jiang Shuyin finally got out of bed to find something to eat. She was busy washing up, putting on makeup, and picking out clothes. Zheng Lanxiang watched from the side and knew without a doubt that this girl was going to cause trouble.

"It's been so long since I've done makeup, I'm so rusty." It took her half an hour just to do her eyebrows. When she finally finished, Jiang Shu let out a sigh of relief.

"What are you going there for?" Zheng Lanxiang asked a pointless question.

Jiang Shu smiled and asked, "Guess what I've been doing these past few days?"

Zheng Lanxiang said with a straight face, "I won't guess."

Okay, then she said herself: "Jiang Jianli's household registration has been moved, right? My household registration and yours are registered in our community, but the house is registered in Jiang Jianli's name. If I make a scene today, this house will be his leverage."

Zheng Lanxiang panicked immediately. What would happen if this person didn't have a house? Look at her second sister's family, they were able to finally settle down and stand tall after they got a house.

Looking at her daughter again, her expression remained unchanged, and she was still smiling. Slowly realizing what was going on, she barely managed to restrain herself from hitting her: "Can't you just finish what you're saying in one go?"

Jiang Shuyin laughed: "Okay, what's the rush? I bought a house downstairs from Xie Yin's. I know you like lower floors, and there happened to be a first-floor unit for sale. I bought it in full, and I can move in today."

She's been running around handling paperwork these past two days, visiting all sorts of departments in Anshi. It wasn't difficult at all. People even invited her for tea because she's from the special task force, and they were very kind to her.

Jiang Shuyin wanted to get some information out of them. She hadn't been involved in any confidential work, and the vaccine issue wasn't one of them, so she just chatted. She chatted until they were satisfied, and then they called her to let her know about the next few procedures. When she arrived, they took the documents, looked at them, and said, "Oh, it's you." Then they stamped a few seals, and everything was done in less than a minute.

It's great to have someone to do things for you; you can spend all your time drinking tea and chatting.

After settling the housing issue, the next step is to deal with the household registration. Since the house here was built by Jiang, it's not appropriate for them to keep their household registration in this community; they need to transfer it to the new house.

Go to the household registration office and ask. While you're at it, get Heimei and Shuining registered. Because things were so chaotic in the early days of the apocalypse, there are indeed some children around one year old whose household registrations don't match. Wait for the review to come out in half a month. If there are no problems, they can be registered. The adults can be transferred within three days.

"You must be Jiang Shuyin?"

Jiang Shu was waiting for the documents when she realized she knew someone in the household registration department. She looked puzzled, and the person introduced herself: "I'm Zhang Jiayi. We did the census together back then, don't you remember?"

Jiang Shuyin really didn't remember. She had improved in other aspects, but her memory seemed to have regressed. However, she still remembered one person, and a look of sudden realization appeared on her face: "And Liu Sisi, right?"

Upon hearing this name, Zhang Jiayi was somewhat speechless: "She works as the receptionist in your superhuman department, right? She's got a lot to say."

Jiang Shuyin raised her eyebrows slightly. Was she implying that Liu Sisi was talking badly about her behind her back?

"What brings you here? I'll keep an eye on things for you." Zhang Jiayi comes from a well-off family and has good upbringing; she never speaks ill of others, whether in public or private, and always keeps her comments brief.

It's good to have someone help you; you'll owe them a favor and the relationship will become closer. Jiang Shuyin then told Zhang Jiayi about her child, and Zhang Jiayi was quite surprised: "Wow, you've had a child without saying a word. Who's the father?"

"Xie Yin, we are partners."

Zhang Jiayi thought she meant: My husband is my work partner.

But what Jiang Shuyin meant was: the child's father is my partner.
