The warehouse smelled terrible. Jiang Shuyin knew she shouldn't be coy at this point, so she forced herself to go in with Xie Yin for a walk. Just as she was about to come out for some fresh air, she heard a rustling sound.
Jiang Shuyin stopped and turned around. The monstrous creature with a swollen belly was pressed against the doorway, its skin swollen from being soaked in water, and the stench in the air intensified dramatically.
Xie Yin frowned slightly: "You come here."
Jiang Shuyin was stunned for a moment, then slowly approached after realizing what was happening. The monster stared at her, motionless.
The more this happened, the more frightened she became, and she even preferred the monster to be a little weirder.
With a blow, the monster caught it lightly. It opened its mouth in front of Jiang Shuyin's wide eyes, and the stench made her see stars. Xie Yin frowned and turned to Qingwu: "Go help."
Qingwu rushed forward swiftly, knocking the monster to the ground. The black mist spread out, now covering the entire head.
"Jiang Shuyin?" Xie Yin's steady voice entered her ears. Jiang Shuyin gripped the iron rod tightly, each strike landing precisely on her head. After struggling for two minutes, she finally stopped moving.
Qingwu gained some benefits.
Xie Yin: "This monster belongs to the strength-enhancing type, and its intelligence has been enhanced to the level of a one-year-old human."
Jiang Shuyin felt relieved; she had thought she had regressed and had almost drunk herself to death.
“Monsters get stronger every day. You’re progressing too slowly. We’ll split up and meet back here at noon. I hope to see you there again.” Xie Yin left alone and infiltrated the heart of the territory.
Jiang Shuyin stood there for a long time, looking at the monster's limbs again and again. From panic to disgust, she slowly got used to it and her mood gradually calmed down.
"That's all there is to it."
Stepping over the corpse, she walked inside, overcoming the darkness and fear. In the enclosed environment, in the extreme silence, even the slightest sound would be amplified, causing her heart to clench violently.
Qingwu followed quietly behind, while Heimei hid inside her hat; the darkness perfectly concealed their presence.
Jiang Shu felt that the hat was heavier than usual, and a terrible thought came to her mind. She swung the stick behind her, but it was nothing.
I touched the switch on the wall and pressed it.
It's still black.
The monster disliked light, and all the light bulbs were destroyed and torn apart. Just as they were about to reach the exit, Jiang Shuyin saw a faint light and her steps became much lighter.
Beyond this factory building, there are factories stretching as far as the eye can see, like warehouses filled with goods and trucks.
After searching all morning without encountering a single monster, Jiang Shuyin felt a little elated. However, as she turned to go back, she became worried again. If only there were helicopters to transfer her directly from here to the outside world.
Of course, it was just a thought. The road back was not easy either, and my mind was tense again, but the tension had eased up, so it wouldn't be so hard to bear this time.
When she saw the monster blocking her way, she felt a sense of relief.
Jiang Shuyin, who has no special abilities and a calm mindset, sent the monster back to its happy home with just one move. When she returned to the first factory, she unsurprisingly encountered two more monsters, which ran away when they saw Jiang Shuyin come out.
"Huh?" Jiang Shuyin was stunned and chased after him.
[Host, it's only been a few days since we last contacted each other, and you've already managed to chase after monsters.]
Hearing the long-lost voice, Jiang Shuyin perked up: "Where have you been these past few days? I couldn't get in touch with you. And who exactly hatched the second cub? And Xie Yin even saw it hatching."
[The Xie Yin mentioned by the host is an intelligent being from an advanced civilization, capable of detecting the existence of this system.]
To avoid revealing the relationship between the system and the host, I chose standby mode.
Jiang Shuyin even forgot to fight the monster that had caught up with her. She stood there stunned, recalling the days they had spent together. Xie Yin seemed no different from a human. Could he actually be an alien?
The monster noticed she had stopped and immediately reached out to grab her. Just as its sharp claws were about to touch her long eyelashes, Xie Yin, who appeared out of nowhere, waved them away.
The bracelet vibrated, and Jiang Shuyin raised her wrist to check. The B-level mission was completed, and the mission coins had been credited to her account.
Her feelings were even more complicated. What exactly was Xie Yin's purpose in coming here?
"If I had arrived any later, you would be dead." The owner of the dark eyes had a cold and stern expression, clearly dissatisfied with Jiang Shuyin's performance today.
Jiang Shuyin nodded, chased after the other monster who was watching the commotion, and then slowly walked towards him, stopping at a distance greater than usual.
Xie Yin looked down and opened his bracelet: "The A-level missions are all in the World Trade Center area, which is a disaster zone. Can you go there now?"
"Yes," Jiang Shuyin said firmly, "but I have a question to ask you."
She couldn't stay in a confined space with an alien for long, but she regretted saying it as soon as she said it. What if the alien felt offended and killed her to silence her?
Xie Yin frowned slightly: "Go ahead and say it."
After a moment's consideration, Jiang Shuyin decided to play it safe and wait it out: "I just wanted to ask you what you like to eat. Shouldn't we celebrate completing our first mission?"
Xie Yin paused for a moment: "Milk tea."
Jiang Shuyi's lips parted slightly. How come the alien who loves milk tea is suddenly not afraid anymore?
"I know a brand of milk tea that's incredibly delicious, it's on the way to the World Trade Center."
While refueling the car on the way, Jiang Shu got out of the car and noticed a milk tea shop inside the gas station store, so she ordered him a cup of grass jelly.
Xie Yin took a sip and put it down: "There's too much stuff."
Jiang Shuyin breathed a sigh of relief: "Then next time I'll order you plain milk tea, without anything in it."
Xie Yin glanced at the coconut latte in her hand, which only contained ice.
Jiang Shuyin followed his gaze and looked over, panicking: "I just took a sip."
