When I went outside again, there were fewer cars parked there.
Jiang Shuyin spotted Xie Yin's car at a glance. Elsa was leaning against the right window, saying something with a smile on her lips. Jiang Shuyin slowed her pace and stared at the scene.
Elsa paused for a moment, then turned to look this way, smiling and waving at her: "Here!"
Jiang Shuyin moved closer, and Elsa pulled her aside and asked, "Your partner looks so cool, but he doesn't even talk to me. Can you tell me what his superpower is? It must be really strong, right?"
"No comment." Jiang Shuyin opened the car door, got in, and rolled up the window.
"Let's go." These words were spoken to Xie Yin.
The good mood that followed was almost gone.
Xie Yin didn't ask any more questions and drove away directly to Suzhou, the city most severely affected by the invasion. As neighbors of two populous provinces, Suzhou took in three times the population of Hangzhou. When living space was squeezed to three times the usual size, some people began to take risks, while others began to slack off and break the rules. It seemed that normal life was gone forever.
When Jiang Shu arrived here, she found that there were very few people on the street, but she could see a crowd of heads behind the glass windows, like caged beasts forcibly detained at home.
The car slowed down, and soon someone approached. The leader threw a fireball at them, accompanied by loud laughter.
"Sizzle"
The water extinguished the fire.
The laughter stopped abruptly, and soon another fireball appeared, even bigger than the first, about the size of a washbasin.
They were still relentlessly submerged by the water, and the scalding water slapped against them, leaving them looking like drowned rats.
"Hey, where did you guys come from? Do you even know whose territory this is?" The leader of the thugs was the one who released the fireball. He had a thick, messy head of hair, a thin cigarette dangling from his mouth, and he swaggered around like a hoodlum.
Behind him was a group of delinquent teenagers in tight-fitting clothes, presumably all minors.
Jiang Shuyin glanced at Xie Yin and saw that he didn't seem to be lecturing her. If this group of people didn't leave soon, they would all lose their lives here.
Jiang Shuyin rolled down the car window: "Don't get in the way, we're on our way to carry out an A-level mission."
The thug paused for a moment, took the cigarette out of his mouth, waved for his underlings to move aside, and Jiang Shu wondered what they were going to do. After the car drove away, the group just watched.
So easy to talk to?
"Navigation started, the entire journey is 56 kilometers and will take approximately 34 minutes."
Xie Yin turned on the navigation, and Jiang Shuyin leaned over to look at the screen. The destination was near the overpass in Qinhuai District. There were very few vehicles on the road, and it only took 20 minutes to arrive.
Three large military jeeps were parked nearby, having arrived before them and clearly waiting for someone. The other party heard the car and poked their head out, only to find it was a private car. Someone even got out to greet them.
He was clearly a military man, with a buzz cut, tanned skin, prominent chest muscles, and camouflage pants. He knocked on the car window: "You've come here on a mission?"
He looked at Jiang Shuyin in the passenger seat, his eyes showing a hint of disapproval: "This is not a drill. The upcoming battle is very dangerous. Are you sure your partner is capable of protecting herself?"
Xie Yin showed him the task displayed on the bracelet: "She's not as weak as you think."
Jun looked down and nodded: "I am He Bing from the elite team of the Eastern Base. There are ten of us in total. Are there only two of you?"
His gaze fell on Jiang Shuyin again, then looked towards the back seat of the two people.
Jiang Shuyin used her hand to block Heimei's figure.
Xie Yin: "Two."
He Bing looked away, returned to his car, and told his teammates about the situation of the new car that had arrived behind them. Everyone was stunned.
"Li Yao, where are you going?" He Bing called out to his teammate who was about to open the car door and get out, his eyes filled with a strong warning.
Without anyone watching, these teammates were like wild horses running free.
Li Yao was more like a monkey itching all over: "It's been so long since we've seen a woman, let alone a living one. You went down to say hello, so I want to go too."
Zhang Di: "Me too."
Liu Fei: "Me too."
He Bing covered her eyes and sighed: "His partner is right there. I went over with a cold face the whole time. If you go over and actually make a move now, who will be delayed? How much will it affect the reputation of our Eastern Base? Now that we're outside, we represent the outside world's view of the Eastern Base."
He Bing was chosen as captain not only because he was the strongest, but also because he was the most mature and stable in his thinking, and he could speak profound truths fluently.
Before leaving, the commander said that everything had to be done according to He Bing's wishes, which forced Li Yao to remain quiet and subdued.
Jiang Shuyin sat in the car for a long time, wondering why no one had moved.
Xie Yin leaned back in his chair, pretending to doze off: "Wait until everyone is here before going in with them. It'll be safer. Let's rest first."
Upon hearing this explanation, Jiang Shuyin lowered the seat, placed Heimei and Qingwu on her lap, turned her head to face the car door, and closed her eyes.
When he woke up again, there were people talking outside. The only light coming from the dim streetlights was from outside, and he couldn't even see Xie Yin's face clearly.
Jiang Shu looked out the window and was shocked.
They actually started cooking... Is this what the cooks are like?
On the folding table, there were already stir-fried dishes: hot and sour shredded potatoes, egg fried rice, and sliced ham sausage. Was that meat being stir-fried in the pan? Even through the car window, Jiang Shuyin could smell the aroma of the food that touched her DNA, and her stomach rumbled in response, which was particularly loud in the quiet car.
"Hungry?" The shadowy figure in the driver's seat sat up.
Jiang Shuyin's face quickly flushed and became hot: "A little."
Xie Yin reached into the back seat and grabbed a bag of things for her: "These are what I got earlier, see if there's anything you like."
In the darkness, she couldn't see what these things were, but she felt relieved when she touched them; they were packaged in plastic bags and were probably food for people.
