Xie Yin didn't accept Cao Jing's cigarette; he just wanted to try something different.
To others, this meant acceptance, which greatly eased the tense atmosphere on the field. The atmosphere in the search team was much more relaxed than before. Everyone's mind was occupied by layoffs and speculation about the parachuted-in officers, so they had less energy to fight for power.
The morning flew by.
The search team's lunch was contracted to the brother-in-law of the squad leader, Feng Shao. The brother-in-law's great-grandfather had once run a large restaurant during the Republic of China era, and the cooking skills had not been lost in this generation. Everyone wanted to take advantage of this good meal, so Feng Shao was targeted the least.
At ten o'clock, Feng Shao came over and asked, "What would you like to eat? I'll have my brother-in-law make it especially for you."
Xie Yin: "There's nothing I want to eat."
Feng Shao was undecided, so Cao Jing went over and told him, "Mr. Xie doesn't have any particular favorite foods, as long as they're a bit juicy."
Feng Shao then realized what was going on: "So you two know each other?"
Cao Jing smiled and said, "My wife gets along very well with her boyfriend."
Feng Shao understood and patted his arm: "We are both blessed people. My brother-in-law makes an excellent eight-treasure soup. It nourishes the kidneys and is suitable for both men and women. I'll go and tell him right away."
When my brother-in-law heard that he wanted to make soup, he realized that two hours was too short.
When serving the meal, bring it over in the clay pot, so they can sip it slowly like tea, as the soup gets richer and richer as it sits.
Xie Yin did nothing in the afternoon except smoke and chat.
Of course, he rarely spoke; it was always others who started the conversation. When they got thirsty from talking, they even had soup to drink. His life was much more leisurely than Jiang Shuyin's.
The search team, like the special task force, finished get off work at six o'clock. Xie Yin made an adjustment, stipulating that they would leave half an hour earlier from now on, and everyone cheered.
Even if it's half an hour less, you can play one more game, and everyone's happy.
Xie Yin left work early but didn't go anywhere; he waited for others to leave.
Jiang Shuyin saw him as soon as she came out carrying her bag. She quickened her pace and walked over, but before she got close, she smelled a strong smell of smoke. She wrinkled her nose and backed away: "Is everyone at your workplace a chain smoker? It smells awful."
Xie Yin only knew that she hated bad smells, but he didn't know that she also hated the smell of smoke. She had just developed an interest in cigarettes, but now that interest was gone.
Once in the car, closer together, Jiang Shuyin couldn't help but mutter, "When you get back, soak your clothes in water for a while before washing them; they've already absorbed some nicotine."
Xie Yin obediently agreed: "Okay."
After a while, he brought up the matter over there: "Cao Jing is having a lot of trouble, and many people don't respect him."
Jiang Shuyin frowned: "No wonder, Tian He said he goes to bed very late and is woken up by the child as soon as he wakes up. Now the couple is planning to sleep in separate rooms."
Xie Yin suddenly turned his head: "Are they sleeping together now?"
Jiang Shuyin raised an eyebrow: "Otherwise what?"
"Then why don't we sleep together?" Xie Yin asked righteously.
Jiang Shuyin was momentarily at a loss for words to answer him.
"I want to move to the second floor, sleep in a room, and have a bed."
Silence is Cambridge tonight.
The second floor was completely unfurnished. Xie Yin carried everything down from the 33rd floor, and Jiang Shuyin could still hear the sound of things rubbing against the floor while lying in bed.
As I was looking at it, a sharp pain shot through my stomach, which didn't seem like a reaction from my intestines. Only then did I suddenly remember the system's previous warning.
She picked up her phone, unsure who to call to ask for leave. After sending text messages to Minister Hu and Zhou Qing, she quickly threw the phone aside, clutched her stomach, and curled up.
It hurt so much, almost as much as the time I was in the underwater lab.
Her hair was soaked with sweat, and her stomach was cramping in waves. Soon, she laid an egg.
Jiang Shuyin couldn't believe it would happen so quickly. She had never seen eggs freshly hatched before; she always picked them up after waking up.
She reached out and picked up the egg. The shell was still a little damp and had traces of blood on it, and it looked quite ordinary.
The eggshell is slightly yellow, the size is about that of a goose egg, and the shape is very similar to that of a chicken egg. It is impossible to tell what kind of egg it is.
[Puppy number 11 was born prematurely. Tonight is a crucial period for its development. Its premature birth has resulted in it being half its original size. We recommend placing it in an incubator.]
The incubator is a feature added to the upgraded system. It allows unhatched eggs to be placed inside to supplement their nutrition and build a good foundation for their development.
Jiang Shuyin was initially resentful of the child's torment, but now, seeing what the system said, she realized she might have misunderstood. The child was actually struggling to come out early because he didn't want her to suffer much.
She took out a wet tissue, wiped the eggshell clean, and put it into the incubator.
Once placed inside, you can see the energy collected by the system swirling around the egg, slowly seeping through the shell.
With a sense of relief, my eyelids drooped and I didn't look up again.
In the morning, the sun casts its rays across the ground.
Zheng Lanxiang rushed in and knocked on the door: "It's already 7:30! If you don't get up now, you'll be late for work. Get up quickly, I've packed your food, you can eat it there. Don't dawdle!"
Jiang Shu opened her mouth, but suddenly lost her voice. She repeated herself several times before her voice gradually grew louder. Zheng Lanxiang knew immediately that the child was sick. She pushed open the door and saw her daughter's deathly pale face. Her heart skipped a beat: "What happened? Where are you hurt? You were working so peacefully in the office."
Jiang Shu was overwhelmed by the barrage of questions. She raised her hand and said, "Stop talking. It's just a minor cold. Just get me a glass of warm water and something sweet. I've already asked for leave from work."
She picked up her phone and saw that both of them had replied to her, so she ignored it.
Zheng Lanxiang didn't really go out; she was going to stay home all day to take care of her daughter. She first went to the kitchen to fill a small thermos with water, and then, passing through the living room, she grabbed two packs of biscuits from the coffee table for her: "Have something to eat first. I'll go cook. How about some red bean porridge?"
