The seafood market has reopened.
A group of fishmen surged in like a tide. Little Carp, fearing that all the good stuff would be traded away, hurriedly told Changji what was going on, and then plunged into the fishmen's midst.
The small crucian carp nimbly darted among the fish.
He was originally going to buy some nutritional supplements for his "girlfriend" when he happened to pass by a stall and spotted a few lustrous pearls that reflected a faint halo in the light.
Various colorful rare seafood ornaments were also displayed on it.
Xiao Ji's eyes lit up immediately. "My girlfriend would look beautiful wearing this on her head!"
However, as the little carp reached for the pearl, another fishman grabbed the pearl necklace first.
"Is this the love pearl of a female merman?"
The stall owner smiled and nodded: "You have a discerning eye. These are mermaid pearls made by local female mermaids when they are aroused. The best batch was offered as tribute, and I picked up some bargains to sell here."
"How many shark coins?"
"At least five hundred."
The stall owner held up five fingers and said with a smile.
Just as the fishman was about to pay, the little crucian carp hurriedly interrupted:
"I saw it first!"
"I got it first!" the other party retorted defiantly.
The two started arguing, drawing the attention of the surrounding fishmen.
Just as they were arguing, the market administrator intervened.
"Alright, stop arguing!" the administrator shouted. "According to the rules, whoever pays first gets it."
Little Crucian Carp immediately pulled out a whole five-hundred-coin barbarian ring and glared fiercely at its opponent.
After receiving the money, the stall owner handed the pearl necklace to Xiao Ji with both hands, saying, "I'm sorry, sir, the item now belongs to this young man."
In front of the administrator, the fishman had no choice but to give up.
The little crucian carp was so happy after grabbing the necklace that it almost forgot how to swim.
But when he went back to find his "girlfriend" after buying all the nutritional supplements, he suddenly discovered that she was gone.
The lawn was empty...
Little Carp searched everywhere for Changji's whereabouts, but even as darkness fell and the terrifying octopus was about to appear, he still couldn't find him.
"Waaaaah, is my girlfriend only with me for one day?"
"Lord Poseidon, could you please celebrate all your remaining birthdays, which will last for several hundred years, in advance?"
"How can she live without me? I miss her so much... Waaah..."
Just then, danger quietly approached the little crucian carp...
Taking advantage of Little Crucian Carp's inattention, the fishman kicked it over, maliciously used a blade to cut open the wound and bleed it, then quickly turned and left.
The little crucian carp got up from the ground and angrily chased after it.
"Stop! You're bullying me! I'm going to tell the security guards!"
But the fishman completely ignored him and ran even faster.
Seeing that the fishman was about to escape into the house, Little Crucian Carp was extremely anxious.
Just then, it saw a fork in the road ahead and, on a whim, quickly changed direction. Unexpectedly, one of the tentacles peeked out first, startling the little crucian carp so much that it almost broke its back in the process.
The fishman hid at home, laughing smugly.
He already knew there was an octopus living near his home, and he figured he could use it to get rid of that annoying little creature.
Or if the little creature helps lure the octopus away, that's not a bad deal either.
......
After leaving, Changji didn't go far; he hid in a dark stone cave.
It's very similar to the small stone cave where we lived when we were driven out of our tribe by the High Priest and the Queen, but back then we had brothers to accompany us, relying on and comforting each other, as if we didn't know what suffering was.
Looking back now, I feel a bitter taste in my mouth, a sour feeling.
"Help!"
"The octopus is going to...eat me!"
"Is there a shark...? Help me!"
A familiar voice came from outside the cave. The tone was panicked, as if the person was trying to escape something.
Changji used his accumulated abilities to communicate with the water and received a message—the little mermaid who saved him was being hunted by octopuses and was in a very sorry state.
He decided to take action, thus severing any ties and balancing their relationship.
Changji swam swiftly towards the cave entrance like an arrow. As soon as he emerged, he saw the little mermaid being tightly entangled by a giant octopus.
Without the slightest hesitation, he immediately swung his tail and charged forward, using the momentum of his tail to slap the octopus's face hard, then used his sharp claws to strike its dark green eyes.
The octopus sensed Changji's threat, released the little mermaid, and bared its fangs and claws to fight Changji.
The battle between Changji and the octopus was exceptionally fierce and thrilling.
As a former outcast of his tribe, he had considerable combat experience.
In the midst of the battle, their movements were as fluid as a swimming dragon.
Skillfully dodge the octopus's tentacle attacks and seize opportunities to counterattack.
After a fierce and arduous battle, Changji finally discovered the octopus's weakness and struck its head with his sharp claws like a whirlwind.
Sensing a deadly threat, the octopus decisively abandoned the fight, fled in disarray, and disappeared into the darkness.
The little mermaid was saved.
It swam happily to Changji's side, its eyes filled with gratitude, but even more so with the joy of having found what it had lost.
Changji's lips curled up slightly, revealing a smile.
For some reason, seeing the boy's silly grin reminded him of Baoping when he was a child.
So, Changji did not stop Xiaoji from following him.
Decades of experience as a ruler made him realize that having one's own power was crucial in this new world.
They decided to proceed steadily and gradually cultivate their influence.
So, with Little Carp by his side, they braved the elements and searched for the scattered merfolk along the way, learning the local language in the process.
Wherever he went, he would inquire about the merfolk and follow the clues to find their traces. He would also take the initiative to communicate with other sea creatures and generously share his knowledge and skills.
