The two of them, each holding a lantern in one hand and their other hand, strolled through the gently falling snow.
Shu Yun pulled Xie Fu along slowly. The snowflakes falling from the dark sky seemed to sense her mood, changing their usual howling and fierce appearance to drifting slowly in the air.
She pulled Xie Fu towards a crowded part of the street, where a towering tree stood, its trunk so thick that it would take several adult men holding hands to encircle it.
The people who had been gathered around the tree were watching with smiles as their children threw red cloths onto the tree.
Shu Yun saw many lively children jumping around under the tree, each holding a long strip of red cloth, and some of them were struggling to throw the red cloth upwards.
Some children are too young; they hold the strips of cloth in their hands and sit down on the ground to play, making the adults nearby shout incessantly.
Those who noticed their arrival bowed and backed away.
Shu Yun quickly grabbed the person closest to her and asked, "What are you doing?"
She was still holding a lantern in her hand, and the rabbit-shaped lantern swayed incessantly with her movements.
The woman who was being pulled away glanced nervously at Xie Fu standing beside her.
The incomparably handsome, noblely dressed man said, "Just answer whatever she asks you."
“Yes,” the woman said respectfully, somewhat afraid of these wealthy young men. “This is to take down the red ribbon tied to the top of the lantern and use it to pray to the gods. The higher it is thrown, the more likely the gods in the sky will see it and grant your wish.”
Shu Yun gazed at the red prayer ribbons fluttering in the wind all over the tree: "I see..."
Just as she was about to reach for the red cloth on her rabbit lantern, Xie Fu had already untied it for her and handed it to her.
Shu Yun took it, and like the children under the trees, placed the red cloth between her hands, clasped her hands together, closed her eyes, and made a sincere wish.
People in the mortal world make their wishes to the gods. She herself is a supreme deity in the three realms. Who can help her fulfill her wishes?
Xie Fu looked down at her profile as she made a devout wish. A breeze came from afar, gently swirling her sleeves.
Shops and taverns lining both sides of the street hung auspicious red lanterns, and the warm orange light illuminated the entire street, making Xie Fu's pale face appear unusually gentle. The young master of the Xie family, whom everyone usually feared, looked unusually mild-mannered today.
A beautiful and aloof woman silently makes a wish during a wonderful festival, while a handsome and charming man quietly watches over her with a gentle expression.
It was truly a heartwarming scene.
After opening her eyes, Shu Yun looked at the giant tree in front of her and squeezed the red cloth strip in her hand.
Just as the woman was about to remind her that it would be better to throw it closer so that it would be easier to reach the tree branch, she saw the red ribbon in the hand of the extremely beautiful woman flutter into the air.
A long wind carries white snow, wrapped in a red cloth strip that carries Shu Yun's wishes, and soars upwards.
Those around were astonished.
However, they soon expressed their regret and sighs.
It turned out that the wind carried Shu Yun's wish all the way up into the sky and flew away to an unknown distance, without managing to hang it on the branch of the prayer tree.
Shu Yun stared silently at the red ribbon that was gradually disappearing from sight.
Those clear, innocent eyes held a strange, unsettling thought. Xie tightened his grip on her hand and removed the red cloth strip from his lamp. "Let's do it again."
Shu Yun smiled at him and slowly shook her head.
It's the same no matter how many times it happens.
She is the deity spoken of by mortals. The wishes of mortals are heard by the deity, but since no one has the ability to fulfill the wishes of the deity, they naturally drift away with the wind and return to the heavens and earth.
She took the red ribbon from Xie Fu, tied one end to her wrist and the other end to Xie Fu's wrist.
If she can't ask others to help her achieve what she wants, then she should just go and fight for it herself.
Ignoring the strange and surprised looks from those around her, Shu Yun, unable to kiss Xie Fu on tiptoe, kissed Xie Fu's chin instead.
Xie Fu glanced at the red cloth binding their wrists, lowered his head to catch up with her, and kissed her slightly cool lips.
The guards standing beside the two stared wide-eyed at the couple kissing under the wishing tree, their eyes wide with disbelief.
The people around them stared at the two of them in a daze.
Fortunately, these two people who were openly showing affection did not intend to take it any further; it was just a light kiss that ended quickly.
Shu Yun's gaze passed over Xie Fu's shoulder, and she seemed to see something. She paused briefly, her eyes turning cold for a moment, before casually looking away.
Xie Fu keenly noticed the pause in her gaze, and following her look, he saw nothing amiss. He then asked, "What's wrong?"
"It's nothing," Shu Yun said, taking his hand. "There are still many places we haven't been to yet, let's go and see them."
Xie Fu looked at her with his dark eyes for a while, but didn't notice anything unusual on her face a second time, so he gave up and happily accompanied her shopping.
Just as Xiaoshu cannot see the Black and White Impermanence, in the world Xie Fu cannot see, in the crowded people, even in the corridors of the tavern buildings on both sides, and in the air, stand gods and demonic cultivators from different places in the Three Realms.
All the gods and demons were watching the two people who stood out in the crowd, and each of them had a different expression.
Shu Yun held Xie Fu's hand tightly, never letting go for a moment.
She knew this day would come sooner or later, but these annoying people just had no sense of timing, showing up today to disturb her and Xie Fu's rare time alone together.
When the Underworld collects souls, the group of southern barbarian mortals whom Xie Fu took her anger out on because of her encounter with danger will surely attract the attention of the Underworld.
