Shu Yun was drawn in by his words and looked at the jade-inlaid silver pot on the table. She could smell the aroma from the pot even from a distance. "What kind of wine is this? It smells so good."
Jiang Yan stood up, his legs long and straight. He was wearing only a white undergarment, which was less sharp and more relaxed than the narrow-sleeved black robe he had worn before.
If he stood right in front of her, Shu Yun would have to look up to see his beautiful black eyes if she wanted to speak to him.
Shu Yun sighed inwardly, wondering when she had grown so tall.
“It’s a kind of wine from the Demon Realm called ‘Peerless Beauty’,” Jiang Yan said, naturally pulling her towards the table.
While pouring the wine, Shu Yun subtly withdrew her hand. "The name is indeed arrogant, 'The Wine That Can Topple Worlds.' I wonder if its taste lives up to those words."
Jiang Yan clenched his fist, as if this would slow down the dissipation of warmth. He explained, "The word 'world-class' doesn't refer to the taste being world-class, but rather to the person the brewer is thinking of when making the wine—someone unparalleled in the world."
The wine was mellow and rich, with a strong flavor that wasn't harsh on the throat, and its aroma was captivating, as if it were tailor-made for her and suited her taste perfectly.
Do you like it?
Shu Yun was still savoring the aftertaste, making no attempt to hide her appreciation for the wine. "I like it."
Jiang Yan poured her another glass, saying, "I'm glad you like it."
"I know very little about the lands outside of Penglai. I never imagined that a place like the Demon Realm could produce such fine wine." Shu Yun gained a new understanding of the Demon Realm and also became more curious about the Nine Heavens. If the Demon Realm was like this, the immortals of the Nine Heavens, who were most fond of elegance, must have even more fine things.
"The Demon Realm is barren, and the demons are eccentric. It is indeed inferior to the beautiful and fertile Penglai."
There's a subtle nuance to what he said.
Shu Yun shifted her focus from her wine glass and thought for a moment to comfort Jiang Yan, "Penglai wasn't always this good. It took a lot of time from the successive rulers of Penglai to create the Penglai we know today, a place of outstanding people and beautiful scenery."
"Anyway, you're going to be the Demon Lord now. With your talent, you can surely make the Demon Realm a better place."
She misunderstood, but Jiang Yan didn't argue and just smiled and agreed.
Fine wine can easily lead to overindulgence. Shu Yun hadn't expected that this sweet-tasting wine would have such a strong aftereffect. She drank one cup after another, and before she knew it, her mind was becoming hazy.
While she was still relatively lucid, she chased Jiang Yan out and staggered toward lying down on the couch. When her eyes fell on the soft, thick carpet beneath her feet, she simply collapsed on the spot, disregarding her image, intending to cool off and dispel the effects of the alcohol before getting up.
In a daze, Jiang Yan pushed open the door and came back, picked up the lazy Shu Yun in his arms, carried her to the bedside and put her down.
He said he wanted the two of them to get along like they did when they were in the mortal world, and Shu Yun indeed acted as usual.
But his thoughts were clearly laid bare before her, so why was she still so unguarded, getting drunk right in front of him? Was she certain that he wouldn't dare overstep his bounds and wouldn't truly anger her?
Jiang Yan's lips curled into a mocking smile. Perhaps his previous act of being obedient was too deeply ingrained in people's minds. He was so convincing in his role that she really thought he was such a gentle person.
Doesn't she know what kind of desires will arise in someone who keeps a person hidden in their heart and yearns for them day and night?
He looked at her drunken face, slowly lowered his head, and their lips touched. The heat spread from their lips, and after gently rubbing against each other, his actions gradually became more unrestrained.
After he made his demands, he thought she would angrily refuse, but to his surprise, she just looked at him quietly for a while and then agreed to stay by his side.
His hot breath brushed against Shu Yun's porcelain-like face, and Jiang Yan lingered on her soft lips. Shu Yun made soft sounds from her throat, faint and delicate, yet they sent a shiver down Jiang Yan's spine and made his tongue tingle.
Is there such a possibility?
Even if it was because of his delusions, could it be that she actually had feelings for him too? Otherwise, why would she agree to stay knowing his thoughts and still be so unguarded around him?
Jiang Yan thought it over carefully. If it were someone she disliked, no one could force her if she didn't want to. But he had threatened her with the war between the two worlds and Feng Ziyi's safety. She was afraid that he had too many delusions in his heart and had such wishful thinking.
Jiang Yan gently stroked her delicate face, smoothed her slightly messy hair, and stared intently at her sleeping face with his dark eyes.
But if she truly has feelings for him, even just a little, he would be willing to die for it.
