Chapter 82

Jiang Yan didn't know how she convinced herself to keep watching. Her body seemed to be out of her control, like a puppet being manipulated, following closely behind her.

Look at her being affectionate with other men.

In the light rain, Shu Yun kicked up a shower of pear blossoms, scattering them all over the sky.

The man in white stood beside her, watching with a doting smile, occasionally wiping her sweat and letting her play as she pleased.

Amidst the falling pear blossoms, a stunningly beautiful young woman and a handsome man smiled at each other, a scene that evoked a sense of gentle tranquility and peaceful bliss.

An unspeakable bitterness filled Jiang Yan's heart.

Is this what it's like when she likes someone?

After finding her again, he kept her by his side. He experienced several secret joys, simply because of the occasional care she showed him.

In reality, he was deceiving himself and indulging in wishful thinking.

White represents innocence and purity. Shu Yun, in her white dress, and the man in his white robe looked perfectly matched.

Jiang Yan took two steps back, the evil energy within him surging, causing his internal organs to ache.

He took a couple of breaths and tried to lean against a tree trunk to rest, but he forgot that this was an illusion and there was no tree trunk for him to lean against.

He could only stand there, his spine seemingly bent from the pain of the rampant evil energy.

Blood crimson crept into his mind, and countless sounds of killing echoed in his head, urging him to kill the man who had caused him so much pain, the man Shu Yun had fallen for.

But in the end, he didn't make a move.

He went from being a servant to becoming Guan Qin's inner disciple, and then painstakingly plotted to become the emperor. He wandered in the underworld for more than ten years before seizing a glimmer of hope. He jumped into the abyss of demons without hesitation. A hundred years later, he emerged as a demon and used Feng Ziyi and the safety of the three realms as leverage to keep her by his side.

Even when he was a mortal, he was always scheming and plotting. After becoming a demonic cultivator and the ruler of the demon realm, he still manipulated things in the sinister hell.

Those who ranked higher than him in Shu Yun's heart deserved to die, but now, looking at Shu Yun's smiling face, he only felt exhausted and had no strength left to kill.

The man in black robes stood tall and straight, with flowing black hair and a face as handsome as jade. The contrast between the blackness of his hair and the paleness of his face was striking, and the upturned corners of his eyes carried a hint of evil.

He stood in the pear blossom grove, so close to the two people, yet it felt as if they were thousands of miles apart.

The scene in the illusion changed, and the pear blossom forest with petals falling like snow transformed into a demon forest exuding black energy.

Shu Yun's white skirt was soaked with blood, and drops of blood dripped down.

Looking up along the hem of her skirt, the blood didn't come from Shu Yun, but from Pei Ju, whom she was carrying. His face was ashen, his life force was fading, and there was a large hole in his chest, where his heart, which should have been pumping blood, was missing.

Shu Yun was covered in blood, some of it her own, some of it from the demons, but mostly it came from Pei Ju.

Behind the two was a staggering young girl, who appeared to be about the same age as Shu Yun. She had injured her leg and was struggling to keep up with Shu Yun.

More worried about Pei Ju than her own legs, An He's beautiful face was covered in tears as she sobbed uncontrollably.

"Brother Pei's heart was ripped out by a demon, is he going to die?"

Shu Yun was feeling weak and sweat was beading on her forehead. "How can I live without a heart?"

Anhe wiped away her tears with the back of her hand, choking back sobs as she said, "If it weren't for saving me, Brother Pei wouldn't have done this..."

Shu Yun didn't want to discuss this topic with her. Remembering what had just happened, she pursed her lips, quickened her pace, and walked out of the mountain.

Just now, Shu Yun lost her grip and was pierced in the shoulder by the demon's foot spikes, pinning her to the tree trunk and unable to move.

This time, disaster struck unexpectedly, as they encountered a spider demon who had cultivated for a hundred years. If it were only Shu Yun and Pei Ju, the two of them working together could not guarantee that they could defeat this monster, but at least they could escape unscathed.

But Anhe secretly followed them. She didn't know how to catch demons, and when the demons discovered her, she and Pei Ju had to protect her and catch the demons at the same time, which inevitably made them feel constrained.

The spider demon used its silk to restrain Pei Ju, while its two front legs stabbed at An He and her respectively. In the nick of time, Pei Ju was unable to spare any effort and could only choose to save one of them.

Shu Yun shook her head. She had lost a lot of blood and was feeling a bit dizzy. Shaking her head helped her clear her head and also helped her stop thinking about how Pei Ju had sacrificed himself to save An He.

Since he knows how to exorcise demons, and An He is completely powerless, it is only right for Pei Ju to rescue her.

She told herself not to worry about it.

Shu Yun found a nearby farmhouse and gently laid Pei Ju, whose heart had been stolen by a demon, on the bed.

Because of demons, this place is filled with demonic energy and is disliked by heaven and earth. It suffers from drought year after year, and the farmers have no harvest. Gradually, they all left this place, leaving behind many dilapidated farmhouses.

She sealed his breath, but for a mortal without a heart, death is inevitable, it's just a matter of time.

Anhe was only focused on crying. She really didn't expect that her momentary curiosity would lead to the discovery that her brother Pei's heart had been ripped out by a demon.

"Don't cry."

Shu Yun felt dizzy, was covered in cold sweat, and squatted on the ground, panting heavily.

Anhe tried to suppress her sobs, but she couldn't help but choke back tears. She didn't want to lose Brother Pei.

"Please save Brother Pei," An He moved next to Shu Yun and pleaded in a low voice, shaking her arm. "You know more than I do, please think of a way to save Brother Pei."

Shu Yun's head was throbbing from being shaken. "Don't touch me, I'm thinking."

Anhe quickly withdrew her hand and looked at her expectantly.

“Mortals cannot live without a heart, but I happened to see a method in a forbidden book,” Shu Yun said with a complicated expression. “I sealed Pei Ju’s life force. Within a day, the underworld will not be able to detect his condition. We only need to find a suitable heart within a day.”
