First Encounter (Side Story 1): Brother, can I follow you?

"This is bad. The clone of mission participant Mu Xiang cannot be destroyed. Life has been detected."

"Life? Her clone is pregnant?"

The two inspectors at the clone storage center stared in surprise at the instruments in their hands.

"What should we do? This has never happened before!"

"We can only deliver the baby from the clone first. Go and report this matter."

One of the inspectors left the replication center and wrote a report, which was then sent to the higher-level system.

Meanwhile, another inspector tried to expedite the delivery of Mu Xiang's pregnant clone.

A few days later, a beautifully sculpted baby girl with big, bright eyes was born in the clone storage center.

The little child stared in amazement at the ceiling where several shooting stars streaked across the sky, laughing happily. However, the next moment, the child's laughter was stopped by the appearance of a skull, and the child burst into tears in fright.

"I told you you scared her."

"Who told the higher-ups to give us both skeleton bodies?"

"What can I do? I don't have any points to exchange for a human body."

"Teasing her a little more."

As the two inspectors spoke, they made faces at the little baby as they had learned from other worlds, making eerie sounds, "Little baby."

"Waaaaah!" The little baby cried even harder.

"Oh no, oh no, why is she crying even harder?"

Just when the two were at their wits' end, a man came over and picked her up.

"Director." The two men stood to the side and bowed respectfully to the man.

The little baby finally stopped crying when she saw a normal person's face. She leaned on the man's shoulder and wiped all her tears and snot on him.

The man was extremely disgusted, but the little baby laughed, seemingly very happy.

After that, the bureau chief had no choice but to reluctantly raise her, hoping to use her to find out which world Mu Xiang's spirit was in.

The bureau chief didn't know how to raise children, so he handed the child over to his subordinates. But the little one would burst into tears and wouldn't behave at all whenever he saw a skeleton, so he had no choice but to take care of him himself.

To save himself trouble, he let the little girl watch TV day and night, only then would she stay quiet and not bother him.

Even when they were drawing blood from her, they would let her watch cartoons, which made her surprisingly quiet and no longer cry and scream like before.

The World Management Bureau would try to locate Mu Xiang's spirit using her essence blood each time, but there was never any news.

As children watch too much television and grow older, they learn that people have parents and are loved by them, and that instinctive desire for their parents grows wildly within them.

She clung to the bureau chief's sleeve and asked in a childish voice, "Chief, where are my mom and dad?"

Having found no trace of Mu Xiang, the bureau chief looked down at the now-grown child and asked in a low voice, "Do you want to find your mom and dad?"

The little baby nodded.

After pondering for a long time, the director summoned his subordinates to bring the little child into the spaceship.

She looked at the two familiar skeletons in front of her, and her big, round eyes instantly filled with tears.

"Little one, don't cry. Look, we've put on human skin." After saying that, the two skeletons put on the human skin costumes that had been prepared in advance.

This bizarre scene caused the little baby to burst into tears again.

The two were in a flurry of activity, and the little baby was running around crying when the spaceship accidentally collided with a meteorite.

The meteorite changed its trajectory and landed somewhere unknown.

The little child was knocked out of the spaceship, and the scene before him changed from an endless sea of stars to a sky full of white clouds, and then to a blue sky.

Her body was falling rapidly, and just as she was about to make intimate contact with the ground, she suddenly fell into a cold embrace.

The two inspectors breathed a sigh of relief, "Thank goodness we made it in time."

"Little one, we can't let you run around like that anymore..."

"Wow!"

Before the inspector could finish speaking, the little baby burst into tears, struggled to the ground, and ran away as if fleeing for his life.

Just as the two were about to follow, their human skin clothing was corroded by the toxins in the air and eventually fell off. They were discovered by other superhumans, who immediately mistook them for mutated zombies and began to attack them with their superhuman abilities.

"No, we can't afford to get into conflict with humans from other worlds. Let's find a spaceship and leave first."

"What about the little baby?"

"We can only let her pray for the best. If she really dies by accident, the world will expel her spirit, and at worst, we can give her a new body."

The two discussed it and realized that this was the only way, so they left the world.

The little girl looked at the stiff, rotting zombies and smelled the stench of decay in the air. Filled with fear, her soft body wobbled as she ran away, which was quite adorable.

It was also considered delicious by the zombies.

"Help!" the little child cried out instinctively.

Just when she thought she was about to be devoured by zombies, she caught a glimpse of a white-haired boy standing in front of her, much taller than herself.

The boy's arms emitted a bright light, and any zombies that got close to him would be burned to ashes by flames that appeared out of nowhere.

The baby stopped crying, stunned by the scene before her, and looked at the boy with utter admiration.

Heh—

She heard the breathing of a zombie behind her, which made her instinctively run towards the boy and grab his clothes tightly.

The boy shielded her behind him, turned around, and unleashed his superpower, burning all the zombies chasing her to ashes.

Intense heat waves surrounded us.

The little child felt the ground was a bit hot underfoot and instinctively jumped onto the boy's back, hugging his neck tightly.

The broad back gave her a sense of security and allowed her to relax.

The zombies around her no longer seemed so terrifying to her.

The boy stiffened as he felt the warmth from his back. He grasped the small hand that was wrapped around his neck; it was warm and soft, a warmth he had never experienced before.

After a long time, the heat wave on the ground disappeared completely, and the ashes of the zombies burned by the flames were carried away by the strong wind.

The boy remained silent, reluctantly letting go of her hand, then straightened up and said coldly, "Let go."

The little girl obediently let go of his hand, but just as the boy was about to leave, she grabbed his sleeve again and followed behind him.

The boy turned around, looked down into her big, round eyes, still with that cold expression, and asked, "What are you doing?"

"Brother, can I come with you? I'm scared." The little child's voice was sweet and soft, making people feel happy.

"Aren't you afraid of me?" the boy asked her seriously.

"Afraid? Why be afraid?" the little child asked, puzzled. "Why should I be afraid when my brother is so handsome?"

"Does it look good?" The boy felt an indescribable joy upon hearing such praise for the first time, but he still lacked confidence and asked again, "Does it really look good? What about my eyes?"

The little girl looked at his eyes, which were different colors, like two different gems, and smiled sweetly. She said sincerely, "You're handsome, brother. You're the most handsome person I've ever seen. Your eyes are so beautiful, just like those interstellar shooting stars of different colors."

"Brother, can I come with you?" the little boy asked again, hugging the boy and looking up with hopeful eyes.

He couldn't bring himself to refuse. He hadn't smiled in a long time, and he smiled gently, saying, "Okay."
