Chapter 39

Chapter 39

This strange vehicle, resembling a car, a boat, and a small aircraft, sped along the water at low altitude, fast yet stable.

The interior was much more spacious than a regular car, with enough room for three people in the front. After Noah settled Daisy in, he placed Su Yue in the middle seat. Then, he took out two thick coats, tossing one to Daisy and personally draping the other over Su Yue.

The vehicle had already switched to autopilot mode, and dense raindrops pounded on the fuselage, making a crisp and continuous crackling sound.

The view outside the window was gray and gloomy.

The entire town was vaguely visible, swallowed by the murky flood, like a giant, menacing octopus. The school's main building, the hill, and the distant mountains they had just escaped were all receding rapidly, eventually merging into the thick darkness of the rainy night.

“I’ll take you to the temporary shelter in Scott Town first,” Noah said to the two.

Daisy was still in shock, her face pale, and she didn't say a word.

Su Yue suddenly burst into tears.

Whether it was the lingering fear of escaping death or the pent-up torment and grievances of the past six months, the floodgates finally opened at this moment.

Daisy was convinced that he had suffered an emotional breakdown after narrowly escaping death, just like she herself had been on the small hill, thinking she was going to die for sure, and had been so frightened that she had talked nonsense and even revealed her innermost thoughts... Now, seeing Su Yue crying, she felt the same way, so she took the initiative to approach him, reached out and pulled him towards her, and generously offered him her shoulder and her embrace.

"Su Yue, it's alright, be good..." she comforted in the gentlest voice.

Su Yue obediently leaned against Daisy. But less than three seconds later, before he could even feel her body temperature, an irresistible force pulled him sharply to the other side—Noah had already pulled him into her arms and pressed his head firmly against her chest.

Daisy and Noah locked eyes, and a subtle current seemed to flash through the air.

Su Yue smelled the familiar scent on Noah, and her face flushed slightly.

Daisy pursed her lips defiantly, leaned closer again, affectionately took Su Yue's arm, and gave him a sweet smile: "We've known each other since junior high, our friendship is deep, something that no rescue team member can compare to. Right?" After saying that, she glanced at Noah provocatively, "Hey rescue guy, it's windy and rainy outside, I think you'd better focus on 'driving'."

Noah's hand remained on Su Yue's, not letting go: "It's just three years of junior high. Little girl, life is long, what's three years?"—He had waited for Su Yue for a hundred years.

But there was no need to say these things to others. He simply glanced confidently at the windshield and control panel: "This car of mine is the most advanced and stable in the area. You don't need to worry, just sit tight. ...Don't lean on my Su Yue!"

Daisy pretended not to hear, and secretly tightened her grip on Su Yue's arm, pulling him a few centimeters closer to her.

Su Yue remained in this awkward position, her head held down by Noah and her arm twisted by Daisy, the two of them secretly vying for control, suffering terribly.

Fortunately, Noah's aircraft was extremely fast, and what would normally be an hour's drive took less than ten minutes to reach its destination. It silently transformed into a white car and parked outside a ten-story hotel.

The hotel parking lot was already packed with vehicles from Weiming Town. In the lobby, people lined up in family units, while staff hurried around, registering and arranging accommodations for the temporarily evacuated disaster victims one by one.

Noah escorted the two to the hotel entrance and looked at Su Yue: "I have something to say to you privately."

A hint of displeasure flashed across Daisy's face, but she still wisely prepared to turn and leave.

Su Yue suddenly grabbed her and gave her a hug.

A bitter smile touched Daisy's lips: "Is this a hug of pity?"

Just now in the car, she had keenly sensed the unusual atmosphere between the two of them—Su Yue was leaning against this rescuer he had just met, and he actually showed a shy expression like someone experiencing first love... He had never acted like this when they kissed back then.

She sighed inwardly and decided to withdraw. Sharing life and death is not necessarily love.

Su Yue's hug was warm, and his eyes were clear and pure: "Thank you, Daisy. You are still my goddess, and that will never change."

Daisy proudly raised her chin: "Many people have said that to me, one more won't make a difference."

“You…” Su Yue smiled helplessly and placed a light kiss on her forehead as if to offer a blessing. “Your father isn’t here, so you need to take good care of yourself.”

Daisy hummed in agreement and turned to walk towards the hall.

The instant she stepped into the hall, a golden light flashed in Noah's eyes, and a white disc flew out silently, a soft beam of light gently sweeping across Daisy's back.

Daisy paused almost imperceptibly for a moment, then continued walking forward.

Noah pulled Su Yue to a secluded corner.

Su Yue felt a pang of pity: "Just now... you didn't erase all of her memories from tonight, did you?" He and Daisy had gone through life and death together tonight, and had finally turned from "sworn enemies" into close friends. It would be a real pity if those memories were erased.

Noah explained calmly, "I only deleted the parts of her memories related to me." He glanced at the vehicle that had transformed into a car. "These involve the existence of the Crystal Clan; she'd better forget them."

Then, his gaze fell meaningfully on Su Yue's face: "So concerned about her? Could it be... that you like her?"

Su Yue sensed a hint of bitterness in those words and was slightly taken aback.

Could it be... that I'm not just in love with him, but that he also cares about me?

But then he remembered that he had been "abandoned" for half a year. Even though Noah had just saved him, it was difficult to make up for it immediately. So he said in a huff, "Whether I like her or not is none of your business."

Noah's gaze suddenly turned domineering, his voice slow and clear, carrying an undeniable force: "It's related. No."

Su Yue was stunned.

His wet hair clung to his forehead, and his eyes widened in surprise, his eye sockets still red from crying, like a frightened little animal.

Noah's heart softened, and he raised his hand to stroke his cheek, whispering affectionately, "Yue, because you are mine."

He pulled Su Yue closer and kissed her without saying a word, as if trying to soothe all her unease with the kiss.
