As soon as Noah appeared, a burly brown bear came bounding over from the other side of the lawn, its face beaming with joy—if it had a long tail, it would have been spinning in a spiral by now.
Su Yue recognized the bear as the one he had seen at the ancient castle mountain. With its owner by his side, he was no longer afraid.
The brown bear recognized Su Yue and came close to him, sniffing the metal brace as if to ask: Silly boy, is your injury getting better?
Su Yue could only manage an awkward, fake smile at the bear.
"Looks like it likes you." Noah patted the bear's head, signaling it to stop fooling around, and then stroked the fur on its neck. "It's the last bear in the Alps, named Da Bao. It's afraid of the heat and doesn't like going inside, so it chose to settle in the front yard and volunteered to be a guard 'bear'."
Da Bao felt comfortable being petted, so it turned to the side and stuck out its butt, wanting Noah to scratch its whole body.
"Get lost!" Noah retorted. "Who told you not to take baths! I waste a whole bottle of deodorant on you every month, you're not a stinky shoe... Learn from the Wolf King, he begs to take a bath every day!"
Upon hearing his name called, the wolf king immediately abandoned the hare and trotted over.
The brown bear let out two soft "howls," then looked longingly at Noah. When Noah ignored it, it turned to the wolf king ingratiatingly.
The wolf king abandoned its docile facade as an indoor "Saint Bernard," its eyes turning cold, and it arrogantly turned its head away, pretending not to see anything.
Da Bao hesitated for a moment, then foolishly tried to get closer to show goodwill, but the wolf king suddenly bared its teeth and let out a low warning.
The brown bear was so frightened that it stood upright, not daring to put its forelimbs on the ground.
The wolf king leaped four meters away, then walked away with a cold, shrewd sway of its rear.
Da Bao, feeling snubbed, whimpered at Noah and Su Yue in grievance.
Noah smiled without saying a word.
"You big idiot bear," Su Yue couldn't stand it anymore. Even he, a newcomer, had figured it out. "Why do you, a perfectly good bear, have to steal the wolf king's gatekeeper job?"
“Woo-woo-ooh-ooh…” the brown bear tried to explain.
"I don't understand." Su Yue snorted and turned to chase after the wolf king.
The brown bear lay sprawled on the ground, feigning death, begging Noah to pet it. Noah only gave it two unceremoniously kicks: "Get up, you stinky brat!"
The brown bear sat up straight obediently. The man and the bear watched Su Yue's retreating figure, and Noah murmured to himself:
"Don't you also think... he looks a lot like Claire?"
The brown bear let out a roar.
Actually, Claire was Da Bao's true owner. When it was born, it was on the verge of death; Claire took it home to the stone house and carefully raised it, even extending its lifespan…
On the other side, Su Yue caught up with the wolf king and took a leisurely stroll.
Suddenly, he shuddered, breaking out in a cold sweat: Good heavens, what have I just done? Did I curse a real bear?! And right in front of it?!
Luckily, it was a clumsy bear and didn't immediately realize what was happening, get angry, or kill him with a single blow.
