Chapter 21
When Noah released him, both of them were slightly out of breath.
Su Yue's cheeks were flushed, and her eyes were hazy and a little resentful, as if to say: Why did you stop?
Noah stared intently into his eyes, as if trying to see through him: "The second common technique that guides use to assist sentries... is to increase the area of physical contact."
Su Yue gave a mumbled "hmm," still immersed in the kiss, completely lost in thought.
Noah had no choice but to put it into practice.
He put his arm around Su Yue's waist, gently pulled her down onto the sofa, and tenderly covered her with his body.
Su Yue felt weak all over and let himself be manipulated.
If he knew the specifics of the procedure, he would actually be very willing to cooperate...
Unfortunately, they didn't understand, and just stared at Noah with curious and expectant eyes.
Noah leaned down and kissed her again, simultaneously unbuttoning their shirts with one hand. He unbuttoned his own first, then Su Yue's. In less than ten seconds, his movements were so practiced, they resembled those of a professional gigolo, not a sentry.
My clothes were lifted, and the air was slightly cool.
Before Su Yue could even complain about the lack of blankets in the basement, Noah had already placed one on top of her.
The smooth, firm chest made his whole body feel hot, like a wildfire.
If kissing is a catalyst, then skin-to-skin contact is a chemical explosion—instantly unleashing a dense purifying energy within him, like a thousand troops rushing towards the black fog!
This brief moment of close contact had a purifying effect comparable to an hour of intense fighting.
Noah's eyes were as bright as stars, and the black mist around him dissipated by more than half, restoring him to his good condition as in the morning!
But he didn't want to stop.
The kisses became frantic and domineering, like a hungry tiger pouncing on its prey.
Su Yue was powerless to struggle, nor did she want to struggle.
Noah put one arm around his back and slid down his spine vertebra by vertebra until he reached the tailbone.
Su Yue trembled all over.
My heart felt like it was about to burst out of my chest, but my chest was firmly pressed against the other person's, leaving me nowhere to escape.
They were almost becoming one. Reason was crumbling...
The hand that should have clenched into a fist, that should have pushed away, betrayed the brain and clung to the other person's shoulder and back, gently stroking them.
Su Yue's brain completely shut down.
Ah, whatever! Whatever! The stimulation he felt throughout his body was unprecedented; he couldn't think straight!
At that moment, Noah suddenly froze, stood up abruptly, quickly straightened his clothes, and left without looking back.
One of them must leave. Since Su Yue is immobile—then he should leave.
Otherwise, something bad will happen.
In an instant, the studio returned to silence.
Su Yue was left alone on the sofa, looking completely bewildered.
Noah returned to his bedroom on the second floor, opened the window, and looked out at the night, which was as thick as ink.
He was wide awake, so he sat down on the edge of the bed, supporting his forehead with his hands. His thoughts were like a runaway compass, rambling aimlessly in the silent room, finally stopping at that point—Claire, and the vacation before the accident.
The floodgates of memory suddenly opened, and time flowed back a hundred years.
It was early summer of 1935. On the grounds of Oxford University, an old Gothic building stood solemn and dignified in the afterglow of the setting sun. Tonight, a reunion celebrating the fifth anniversary of their graduation was being held here. Several classic cars with their boxy lines and gleaming chrome trim were parked outside; inside, it was another world: the delicate fragrance of fresh lilies floated in the air, and the flames beneath the sterling silver candlesticks flickered restlessly, reflecting off the crystal-clear wine glasses.
Among the formally dressed guests, Pat Claire stood out as the most dazzling exception. Her tall, 1.77-meter frame perfectly complemented her elegant gown, and her angelic smile instantly made everything around her pale in comparison.
"Our psychology goddess, our reunion is the most beautiful surprise of the night!"
"Her beauty is just her least significant advantage. Claire, those two papers you wrote back then are now considered the bible of the academic world; they were works of genius!"
Compliments rang out, which Claire politely responded to, until a massive shadow forcefully broke through the crowd. The 1.9-meter-tall Wilson walked up to her with an imposing presence. He had once been Claire's equal in academic achievement, and the rumored suitor who had been unrequitedly pursuing her for years.
Wilson's expression was stern, and his voice was so calm that no emotion could be detected: "I read your article 'A Preliminary Exploration of the Connection between Psychology and Hypnosis,' which you published in a core journal last year, five times."
Claire paused slightly, a hint of surprise flashing in her clear eyes: "That's an extremely niche field. It's remarkable that you're interested."
“I’ll read anything you write.” Wilson didn’t seem to care about the stares around him. “I’d like to discuss the three points about subconscious intervention in the article with you privately. Would you do me the honor?”
"A lecture by the goddess? We'd love to hear it too!" the others jeered.
Claire smiled gracefully: "Okay."
As a guide, she was constantly searching for ways to improve purification efficiency. Although her compatibility with Noah was as high as 99%, this only meant that the guide and the sentinel were highly compatible, not that the purification of negative energy was highly efficient. Noah was the Crystal Clan's top sentinel, while she felt she had not yet reached the corresponding level. In order to help Noah clear the layer of supernatural black mist that enveloped his entire body more quickly, she never stopped exploring the limits of human psychology.
Two hours later, the music ended and everyone left. As Claire walked out of the auditorium, she immediately saw the shadow under the ancient tree.
Knoa was leaning quietly against the rough tree trunk. The moment he saw her appear, his calm demeanor vanished instantly, and he quickly went to greet her.
"Have you been waiting long?" Claire met his gaze with a beaming smile.
Noah gentlemanly took her hand, speaking as if it were the most natural thing in the world: "It hasn't been long. I've been here ever since I brought you here."
"Two hours? You're just going to stand there like that?" Claire exclaimed in surprise.
Noah shrugged, looking relaxed. "The scenery here is nice. It's where you studied, and I wanted to take a few more glances. However, although there are trees and a river, it's still a bit lacking compared to the castle where we got married and the stone house we decorated ourselves."
He took her hand and gently kissed her fingertips, his blue eyes sparkling with tiny stars: "It's a rare holiday, where would you like to go to relax next?"
As the second-in-command of the Crystal Clan, Noah was always a "workaholic" in the management council, assigned areas and tasks far exceeding the intensity of ordinary people. Claire never complained about the hard work of accompanying him, which always made Noah feel a sense of pity for her. This vacation, he only wanted to be her constant shadow, accompanying her wherever she wanted to go.
Just as Claire was about to speak, two photographers carrying heavy cameras and flashlights rushed over: "Ms. Claire! The group photo for the party hasn't been taken yet. You are a key figure on the college roster, please stay."
Claire glanced apologetically at Noah, then gracefully paused. A blinding flash of white light followed by the click of the shutter.
After the photographer left, Noah let out a sneer with a sullen face: "That kind of low-resolution film camera and blinding lighting couldn't capture even a fraction of you. I'll take your picture myself later."
“There’s no more room in the stone house,” Claire said with a smile, teasingly.
“Once it’s full, we’ll build another stone house.” Noah was about to continue when he heard hurried footsteps behind him.
