Chapter 238 Old Master Tang

The meat looked so tempting. Everyone finally turned their attention away from the drinks and towards the food on the table.

Now, the group, who had originally planned to drink more, had to give up because they were too full.

But looking at the two large jars of wine in the Su family's living room, they were unwilling to give up.

In the end, it was Su Ruisheng who gave each of them a pound of wine before they were willing to leave.

Looking at Tang Yulin's tea leaves in his left hand and wine in his right, and then at the wine in his own hand, Si Xingqian felt somewhat numb.

Sure enough, the more lice you have, the less they bite. The more embarrassing things you do, the thicker your skin becomes.

Upon arriving at the Tang family's residence, Si Xingqian was about to go inside when Tang Yulin stopped him.

"If we take these things inside, we definitely won't be able to take them back. Let's put them in the car first!"

Si Xingqian felt that he had known his old friend for quite some time, but he still couldn't accept that his usually very calm and composed person could be so unpredictable from time to time.

Seeing that he had also put the tea leaves in the car, Si Xingqian couldn't help but ask, "Wasn't the tea leaf for the old man? Why did you put it in there too?"

Tang Yulin said with a profound and inscrutable expression, "You don't understand."

After saying that, the two returned to the Tang family empty-handed.

"Grandpa, I'm back."

It was news time, and Grandpa Tang liked to sit there and watch the news. Hearing Tang Yulin's voice, he didn't turn around, but waved for them to come and sit down.

As soon as the two arrived, the old man's eyes swept over them: "Where did you two go? The driver just came back and said you turned around and went to Xiao Su's place halfway?"

Tang Yulin said, "Yes, the third son of the Su family came back with his wife. He was having a party at home, so I went over for a drink."

Grandpa Tang didn't believe it: "You're going to join in the fun?" As he spoke, Grandpa Tang smelled a faint tea fragrance on the two of them, besides the food.

"I heard before that old man Su Ruisheng went to take care of his grandson's schooling, and not long after he came back, he was bragging everywhere that his daughter-in-law had given him clothes and good tea. He wears the same clothes every day, changing between red and gray. He's so smug. It seems that today is the first time his daughter-in-law has come to visit, and she has brought good wine and tea as well."

Tang Yulin said calmly, "Yes, it's really good. Not only that, but the third son's wife's cooking skills are also very good."

Old Master Tang said irritably, "Stop giving me that official talk. Others may not know, but I do. Although the Su family is showing signs of rising in status today, it's not enough to warrant your attention. With your dog nose, you must have gone there by smell."

"The Su family's relationship with our family only extends to me. You've been using my name to freeload! And you haven't brought me anything back?"

Si Xingqian felt that his worldview had been shattered and rebuilt by these words.

Is this really the Tang family patriarch he's always respected? This is nothing but a scoundrel. No, a little scoundrel and an old scoundrel.

So the old man wasn't blaming Tang Yulin for borrowing his name, but rather angry that Tang Yulin ate it and didn't bring it back for him?

Is their family really lacking this one thing?

No way!

Seeing that the old man was even willing to put on an act in front of outsiders for the sake of things, Tang Yulin simply said, "Don't worry, I'm doing this for your own good. The doctor said you can't drink tea while taking medicine."

"Get lost! You won't let me eat meat, you won't let me drink alcohol, and now you won't even let me drink tea. What's the point of my life? Just to be a shield for you bastards? If you won't give it to me, I'll take over the Su family! You can freeload in my name, and so can I!"

Si Xingqian was completely dumbfounded and could no longer look at the grandfather and grandson directly.

Seeing that the old man was really walking out, Tang Yulin hurriedly said, "I'll call Dr. Sun first. If she allows you to have tea, then I'll give it to you."

Old Master Tang immediately stopped: "I knew you'd hidden it. Give it to me! What are you doing making that phone call? Whether I drink that lousy medicine or not, it won't make me any better, nor will it kill me. Rather than living on bitter medicine every day, I'd rather suffer the kind of painful death I prefer!"

Tang Yulin looked intently at his grandfather, a man who was already ninety years old.

Grandpa sacrificed so much for the Tang family, even though it was indeed somewhat rebellious. But Grandpa was right; rather than taking those medicines, it would be better for him to live happily.

Wasn't that what he was thinking when he asked the Su family for this tea?

"Okay, I'll get it for you. You wait at home, the roads outside are slippery, don't fall."

Grandpa Tang was satisfied: "Go quickly!"

Tang Yulin brought the tea back. There were only three boxes in total. The Su family opened one box, leaving two more boxes inside.

Grandpa Tang couldn't help but glare at the person who was missing a box.

Tang Yulin explained helplessly, "They only had this one box, saying it was for you. Apart from the one that was opened, they gave you the rest."

Only then was Old Master Tang satisfied.

She reached out to open the packaging, but Tang Yulin stopped her: "What are you going to do now? You're a light sleeper to begin with. If you drink this, you definitely won't be able to sleep tonight."

The old man slapped his spoilsport grandson away impatiently: "Who said I wanted to drink it? I just wanted to smell it. I quit smoking when I was sick. Then I started drinking tea. Now look what's happened, I haven't had tea in ages. I've been missing it terribly."

Hearing what the old man said, Tang Yulin reached out and opened the tea leaves for him.

Instantly, the aroma of tea forcefully entered the nostrils of the three of them.

Grandpa Tang said with a look of fascination, "It smells so good, it smells so good."

After saying that, he was about to stand up and ask the guard to make him some tea. But when he saw his grandson looking at him teasingly, the old man felt a little embarrassed.

"No, it's nothing, I'm just not comfortable sitting here, I'll stand up and change seats."

"Pfft!" Si Xingqian couldn't help but burst out laughing.

The old man then realized there were outsiders present. He coughed, trying to regain his composure, but realizing it was probably too late, he decided to give up entirely.

"Hurry up, what brings you back today? Tell me and then get on with your business."

Tang Yulin then became serious and gestured for Si Xingqian to take out the documents so he could begin talking to the old man.

Actually, the old man was getting old, and Tang Yulin rarely talked to him about these trivial matters anymore. But this time, since it involved his uncle's family, he had to tell the old man first.

Around 8 o'clock, Tang Yulin and Si Xingqian left the Tang family home.

Grandpa Tang sat there for a long time before finally sighing, "Children and grandchildren have their own blessings. Little Zhao, go make me a cup of tea."

The guard looked troubled: "Minister Tang specifically instructed before he left that you shouldn't be given tea."

The old man said irritably, "Just go when I tell you to. I'm not happy. You won't let me smoke or drink, and I can't even have a cup of tea? If I don't go, I'll be depressed to death!"

The guard had no choice but to reply, "Yes, sir!"
