Based on experience, the first thing to consider in such a large-scale poisoning incident in the southern district is water pollution. In other words, someone may have poisoned the drinking water.
However, this is really quite impossible.
Because the city of Vistalia is divided into upper and lower sections.
The water supply is for residents' drinking water, sourced from mountain springs flowing from the Dragon Bone Mountain Range. The wastewater is sewage, generated from domestic wastewater discharged by residents.
In theory, poisoning the water would be the best solution, but in reality, it's simply not feasible.
Imagine you pour a small bag of sugar into a flowing stream. Even those next to you won't be able to drink the sweet water, let alone the locals who don't always have a chance to get water.
Unless you have enough poison to release in large quantities.
This is obviously unrealistic. Because the river is used for drinking water, and Taya is a very clean person, she absolutely will not allow anyone to pollute the water, and there are people patrolling it every day. That's one reason.
Secondly, the primary problem caused by large-scale poisoning is the aquatic life and surrounding plants, which are clearly not the issue.
Thirdly, if they poisoned the water, those people wouldn't need to take the antidote; they could avoid it by simply preparing enough water beforehand.
Clearly, the method they used to poison the animals was one that even they themselves couldn't stop.
What could possibly prevent the poisoner from taking the antidote beforehand? Nan Qu herself didn't know.
"Search everything one by one, and tell me immediately if you find anything strange!"
"yes!"
After everyone had left, Nan Qu stood on the roof of the tallest house in the vicinity and began to carefully examine her surroundings.
She currently has three clues in her possession:
First, in terms of the composition of the poison, this poison is not contagious, so the person who was poisoned was poisoned because they actually came into contact with the poison.
Second, the poisoning spread from south to north.
Third, what methods make it impossible for those people to avoid being poisoned?
Based on these three points, water pollution was ruled out. Nanqu and her guards searched all night, but found no clues.
Just as Nan Qu was getting a little annoyed and felt that she might have guessed wrong somewhere—after all, this was a music kingdom, but it also belonged to a magical world, and perhaps they possessed abilities that she was unaware of—she realized that her starting point was flawed.
If she can't find out, she'll have no choice but to arrest those people directly.
However, she always felt that even if those people were arrested, the problem wouldn't be solved. There was still a possibility that someone might be poisoned again.
Just as Nan Qu was thinking of retreating, a ray of sunlight shone on Nan Qu's face.
Looking at the dust floating in the air under the sunlight, Nan Qu suddenly felt clear-headed.
"Let's go to the Church of Light!"
The guards behind Nan Qu looked at the black-haired girl in front of them and hurriedly stopped her, saying, "No, Miss Nan Qu, that is the Church of Light. No one except the followers of Light is allowed to enter there, otherwise it would be blasphemy against the God of Light!"
Nan Qu suddenly turned around: "So, you didn't search there last night?"
Nan Qu looked at the guards without saying a word, somewhat speechless: "Go to the Church of Light! If you don't dare to go in, I'll go myself."
The guards dared not move upon hearing this, and Nan Qu's face turned completely dark: "Hurry up, this is an order!"
The guards then led Nan Qu to the Church of Light. When Nan Qu looked at the familiar roof, she was utterly speechless. She had been here several times that night, yet had never considered the situation here.
When she arrived at the church, the guards saw that Nan Qu had gone in without hesitation, so they hesitated for two seconds and followed her in.
To Nan Qu's surprise, when she entered, she saw a middle-aged man with curly blond hair wearing a white priest's robe doing something to the sky, and the suspicious powder in his hand, if Nan Qu was not mistaken, was poison.
The sudden intrusion startled the curly-haired cultist, causing the powder that had been floating in the air to fall and land directly on his face.
"ah!!!"
Seeing the panicked look on the believers' faces, Nan Qu's guess was confirmed.
Why wasn't this person taken to the castle?
Seeing this, the guards were still confused and quickly explained, "Well, the Church of Light has never been under the control of the royal family. We have no right to come here and take people away."
Another guard added, "Furthermore, followers of the God of Light cannot be corrupted by darkness..."
Nan Qu understood. Yesterday, they asked them to bring someone to detoxify. One reason was that they dared not enter this place, and the other was that they believed this person would not be poisoned, so they consciously avoided him.
Nan Qu, however, wouldn't tolerate him: "He's the one who poisoned her, take him away!"
The guards looked at each other, but none of them dared to make a move.
The cultist beside him snapped out of his reverie, now tainted by the dark powder: "Who are you? Don't you know this is the sacred Church of Light? No one is allowed to enter except on open days! You will be punished by the God of Light!"
Nan Qu rolled her eyes, pierced the man's body with a needle, and watched as he stiffened. She then ordered, "Take him away!"
Nan Qu was completely obsessed with thinking about how to avoid being poisoned by the poisoner, and that was all she could think about. She never imagined that the person who poisoned her wasn't one of those people.
They may have simply given the poison to this cult member, so the reason they couldn't avoid the poison was because they didn't know when the cult member would administer it.
Nan Qu picked up the medicine powder scattered on the ground by the believers, watched the guards lead the believers away, and then she went into the church herself. Looking at the statue of the God of Light shining in through the light, it did look quite mysterious.
However, Nan Qu didn't believe that. She came in to find evidence of the crime, and she didn't believe that there was only one packet of poison.
Just as Nan Qu was searching around the church, she was unaware that a beam of light was about to fall from the statue of the God of Light onto her, but it was blocked by the golden light emanating from her body.
All of this happened in an instant, and Nan Qu herself couldn't see it at all.
At this moment, the God of Light, far away in the sky, was quite dismayed to see that some mortals were rejecting his blessings.
She admitted that she had her eye on the mortal's radiant merit, and that if the mortal became a disciple of the Self-Satisfied, she could share in her merit.
Unexpectedly, she possessed the mark of another god, and this mark was so powerful that even she could not shake it.
The Heavenly Dao of the magical world pretended nothing had happened as it watched this scene, but inwardly it couldn't help but complain. It was practically begging to cede territory and pay reparations to bring this person here to clean up the mess for the God of Light, but this guy actually wanted to steal the golden light from him.
That's just wishful thinking.
