Chapter 83 Forgotten?

Nan Qu learned that Zheng Jianmin had been transferred to the logistics department a month later.

During this month, Nanqu saw Zheng Jianmin busy every day, first building the toilet and then installing a heated brick bed in the house.

She manages everything at home very well, and has even started to gain weight!

For a combatant, gaining weight means that the person has become lax!

So, Nan Qu once again acted coquettishly, pestering Zheng Jianmin to take her to his workplace.

Logically, Zheng Jianmin should have refused, but to everyone's surprise, he agreed!

Everyone knows that military bases need to be kept secret, right?

When Nan Qu was brought to the military camp by Zheng Jianmin and arrived at the logistics department, she watched as he skillfully opened the door and entered the room. Sitting there, Nan Qu was still in a daze.

Nan Qu only realized what was happening when the logistics staff started coming to Zheng Jianmin to talk about work.

"Dad, will you work here in the future?"

Zheng Jianmin smiled and said, "That's right. How about it, isn't the environment here nice?"

Nanqu nodded: "It's better than the cowshed."

However, she was somewhat shocked. Yet, Nan Qu would rather doubt her own medical skills than question Zheng Jianmin's reason for switching to an administrative position:

"Dad, are you feeling unwell?"

Zheng Jianmin asked, puzzled, "No?"

Nan Qu suddenly realized, then looked around and whispered, "Is Dad doing some kind of mission again?"

Zheng Jianmin's face darkened: "Yueyue, who told you all this?"

Seeing Zheng Jianmin's expression, Nan Qu thought she had guessed correctly: "I heard you talking to Uncle Wang earlier. Don't worry, I'm your daughter, I won't tell anyone."

Zheng Jianmin suddenly broke out in a cold sweat. Fortunately, the previous mission was over, and fortunately he had chosen to switch to an administrative position. He had always known that his daughter was smart, but he never expected her to be this smart.

Zheng Jianmin initially brought his daughter with him on missions because there was no other way. He was on a mission when a sudden incident occurred at home, and his military region was located in this area while he himself was in Beijing.

After learning that only his daughter remained at home, the army contacted Zheng Jianmin, intending to send someone to care for her so he could complete his mission. However, the child, having witnessed her mother's suicide, seemed to be traumatized, remaining completely dazed.

At that point, Zheng Jianmin had already appeared in front of the mission objective and could no longer back down.

So, after putting aside his grief, Zheng Jianmin applied to his superiors for permission to bring his child with him to complete the mission.

This idea is risky because Zheng Jianmin is facing a dangerous situation that could be fatal if he is not careful.

However, Zheng Jianmin insisted: "My daughter needs me. Even if I might have to sacrifice myself in the future, at least let me do something for her in the limited time I have left."

And so, the higher-ups reassigned Zheng Jianmin and sent his daughter to live with him.

Seeing that his daughter had truly recovered, Zheng Jianmin finally felt relieved. He also thought that after completing this mission, he would go back and find a way to settle Nanqu down.

Unexpectedly, that mission had a follow-up, and because the mission was so urgent, not too many people could know about it. Before he could even return, he was assigned to another mission location.

Later, Zheng Jianmin thought about his daughter's special physical condition and finally gave up.

He felt that his heart wasn't as strong as he thought, and he couldn't keep facing the fact that his daughter was missing.

At this moment, Zheng Jianmin felt even more certain that his idea was right. He couldn't leave his daughter alone at home. It wasn't that he didn't trust anyone, it was that he didn't trust his daughter. Well, he was terrified of losing his daughter.

"Yueyue, remember, you are not allowed to tell anyone about your past memories. Dad has been transferred to the logistics department, so I can take Yueyue to school and pick her up from school every day. Isn't that good?"

Nan Qu was deeply shocked. A man who valued the national interest more than his own life had now given up his proudest job for her. Of course, it was also because she was his daughter.

It's important to understand that Zheng Jianmin has no powerful connections; everything he has is earned through his military achievements. However, now that he's been transferred to a civilian post, his chances of earning further merit are slim. This means his future prospects for promotion are extremely bleak.

Thinking of this, Nan Qu felt she should do something: "But Master won't let me forget him."

Nan Qu looked at Zheng Jianmin with an innocent expression.

Zheng Jianmin's eyes widened upon hearing this. He felt as if he had found the reason for his daughter's disappearance. Thinking of this, Zheng Jianmin's voice trembled slightly, but in his heart, he wanted to tear the person who took Nanqu away to pieces: "Master? What master?"

Nan Qu pretended not to see Zheng Jianmin's expression: "That's the master who taught me martial arts. Dad, don't you have a master?" She looked at Zheng Jianmin with a pitiful expression.

Zheng Jianmin choked. "Is it pitiful to not have a master?" Well, he actually envied Wang Minsheng. Compared to him, whose knowledge was all practical experience gained on the battlefield, Wang Minsheng had a real master who taught him genuine skills.

Anyway, he can't beat them.

Wait, don't go around in circles!

Zheng Jianmin quickly snapped out of his daze and looked at his innocent-looking daughter, asking, "Where is Yueyue's master? Can you introduce him to Daddy?"

Nan Qu looked doubtful: "Does Dad want Master too? But Master is gone. Otherwise, he wouldn't have told me not to forget him."

Zheng Jianmin took a deep breath and clarified his doubts: "You mean your master has left? Will he come looking for you again? Will he take you away again?"

Nan Qu knew that Zheng Jianmin meant whether she would "get lost" again. Nan Qu was actually not sure about this. So, Nan Qu originally wanted to say directly that her master was "dead". But what if she "got lost" again someday? That would be a good excuse.

"I don't know, anyway, Master said he won't be back for a long time. Dad, should I forget him? If I forget my Master, will I forget everything he taught me too?"

As she spoke, Nan Qu looked at Zheng Jianmin with a troubled expression.
