This afternoon, they received another order to go to Sujia Village to monitor the enemy. This was because the girl and her mentor, Doctor Huang, had risked their lives and entered into the trap.
Don't be too sad, everyone. Quickly inform Battalion Commander Gu so he can make a decision. The enemy's route up the mountain is from Sujia Village. Capture the enemy as soon as possible and rescue Doctor Huang and his apprentice, Comrade Su Xingran.
Gu Moting was marking maps at Dr. Huang's house when he heard a knock at the door. He went to open it. "Commander Gu, there's been some movement at the Zhang family's house. Five minutes ago, two men hiding there took away Dr. Huang and Comrade Su Xingran."
They were taking the mountain path leading up from Sujia Village. Comrade Su Xingran tossed down a crumpled piece of paper, which she had written; take a look. The soldier who returned to report handed over the paper.
Gu Moting took the crumpled paper, opened it, and after reading it, he clenched it tightly in his hand. "Let's go, let's meet up with them, and then I'll tell you what the next step is."
Gu Moting, along with the soldiers who had returned to report, met up with the soldiers guarding the Zhang family's residence. "The four of you will come with me up the mountain. Two of you will guard outside Comrade Su Xingran's house, and the other two will continue guarding the Zhang family's residence."
Gu Moting led four soldiers up the mountain path. Gu Moting anticipated that Zhang Yizhu would not follow the enemy who had kidnapped his uncle and apprentice into the deep mountains.
So he and four soldiers stood guard at the entrance to the mountain, ready to arrest him. About ten minutes later, a man appeared at the entrance.
As the man approached, Gu Moting and several soldiers rushed forward and pinned him to the ground. Before Zhang Yizhu could even figure out what was happening, he was already tied up and taken away.
When Zhang Yizhu was taken away, he realized he had been arrested. He was terrified and could barely stand. He didn't know when he had been targeted, but the precise timing of his arrest meant he had been watched for a long time.
Gu Moting had two soldiers take Zhang Yizhu back to the town's police station, while he himself led two soldiers up the mountain to meet up with the soldiers who had followed the two enemies and taken away Doctor Huang and Su Xingran.
When Su Xingran and Doctor Huang were first brought up the mountain, the ropes binding their feet were untied, and their hoods were removed, but the ropes binding their hands and bodies remained. The two men from Japan told Su Xingran and Doctor Huang to walk on their own.
Dr. Huang was clearly exhausted; his legs gave way and he collapsed to the ground. The Japanese man following behind Dr. Huang kicked him.
"Old man, what are you pretending to be dead for? Get up and walk!" The broken Mandarin, coupled with the arrogant tone, was irritating to listen to.
Doctor Huang groaned in pain. Su Xingran ran to Doctor Huang's side, knelt down beside him, and moved her bound hands against him several times.
Su Xingran turned her head and spoke incoherently to the two Japanese men, her mouth stuffed with a towel.
One of the men from Japan walked up to Su Xingran and removed the towel from her mouth. "What are you saying?" the man asked Su Xingran in broken Chinese.
Once the towel was removed and her mouth was free, Su Xingran immediately spoke up: "Untie me and I will help my master walk. I will never run away. My master is old and has not eaten or drunk anything all day. He is exhausted."
