Chapter 108 Evidence Found at the Zhang Family Residence (2/2)

The village chief and the brigade leader looked worried. They were already having a headache from the earlier claim that Zhang Yizhu was an enemy agent. Now, a large group of enemies from the Sakura Kingdom were hiding in the mountains of Sujia Village.

There are enemy spies in the village, and there are also enemies from the Japanese Empire on the mountain. Who knows what will become of Sujia Village's reputation after this? Forget about becoming an advanced brigade. The village chief and brigade leader think it's a great thing that the commune isn't publicly criticizing the person in charge of Sujia Village.

When Su's parents heard about the Zhang family's arrest while they were in the fields, they both felt that it was related to their daughter's disappearance for two days. Now, all they hoped for was for their daughter's safe return; they asked for nothing more.

Doctor Huang and his apprentice Su Xingran were taken to the town for protection. No one could guarantee that no one had escaped, or even if anyone had seen Doctor Huang and Su Xingran's appearance.

To prevent the two from falling into danger again, Gu Moting suggested that the master and apprentice stay in town for a few days. They could return home after a thorough investigation confirmed that there was no fatal danger.

Su Xingran understood that this was normal behavior, done to protect her. Therefore, she had no objections. She only asked someone to pass on a message to her parents, letting them know that she had returned safely.

Mr. and Mrs. Su were working hard in the field when the brigade leader walked up to Mr. Su and said, "Guomin, go and call your wife. The two of you should come to the brigade office together."

Mr. Su was a little puzzled, but then he thought it might be about Ranran. He quickly went to call Mrs. Su, and the couple went to the brigade office together.

The two walked to the office door, which was open. Su's father looked up and knocked on the door, and a police officer in uniform looked towards the door.

"You two are Comrade Su Xingran's parents, right? Come in, I have something to say to you." The police officer looked at the man and woman who resembled Su Xingran and determined that they were Su Xingran's parents.

"Yes, we are Su Xingran's parents. Is there any news about our Ranran? Or..." Su's father didn't dare to ask the last question, fearing it might be a bad one.

"You don't need to be nervous or worried. I'm here specifically to relay a message from Comrade Su Xingran. Comrade Su Xingran returned safely this morning, but due to certain reasons, she has temporarily gone to the town's police station and is under the protection of police officers and soldiers."

"Comrade Su Xingran, I'm worried you might be overly concerned about her. She asked us to send someone to let her know she's safe. Could you please pack a few sets of clothes for Comrade Su Xingran to take back with me later?"

When Su's parents learned that their daughter was safe and had returned home, the heavy weight on their hearts finally lifted. However, the thought of not knowing when they would see her again brought a pang of sadness.

Mr. Su patted Mrs. Su on the shoulder: "Alright, as long as Ranran comes back safely, nothing else matters. Go home and pack a few sets of Ranran's clothes to take to the police officers."

The police station is currently extremely busy, so Su Xingran and Dr. Huang have been temporarily placed in the police station's staff dormitory.

Su Xingran received the clothes the police had brought back for her from Sujia Village. She ate, took a hot shower, and then lay down to sleep in the staff dormitory. She was utterly exhausted; she hadn't rested for three or four days. She slept soundly until noon the next day.
