Chapter 11 Visiting Grandpa Huang's House (2/2)

Are you sure your parents called you that, or that you decided it yourself? Doctor Huang looked at Su Xingran with a smile.

Su Xingran smiled a little embarrassedly, not expecting Grandpa Huang to be so perceptive. She didn't mince words, "Grandpa Huang, I took it myself, but my parents said they wanted to thank you. We don't have anything suitable at home to give you, Grandpa Huang. My dad doesn't drink this wine, it's just sitting there anyway, so I brought it for you."

Grandpa Huang, I have something I want to tell you. You sometimes go up the mountain to collect herbs, right? But you're always out making house calls and don't have time to go. I know herbs and I'd like to collect some for you. If you don't have enough, you can keep it for yourself, and the pharmacy in town might need more.

"Xingran, you mean you can identify herbs?" "Yes, Grandpa Huang, I can identify herbs." Doctor Huang became interested and pointed to the herbs drying in the yard. "Xingran, go and see if you recognize those?"

Su Xingran walked up to the herbs and looked at them. "Grandpa Huang, this plate has Panax notoginseng, this plate has Imperata cylindrica, this plate has Artemisia argyi, this plate has Drynaria fortunei, and this plate has Agrimonia pilosa." As Su Xingran mentioned each herb, Dr. Huang's eyes grew brighter and brighter.

"Grandpa Huang, am I right?" "Yes, absolutely right. Xingran, wait a moment, Grandpa Huang." After saying this, Grandpa Huang hurriedly turned around and went into the house. Su Xingran didn't know what Dr. Huang was doing, but she still obediently stood there and waited.

A moment later, Doctor Huang came out with several boxes. "Xingran, come and see what medicinal herbs are in these boxes." Su Xingran went over to look. "Grandpa Huang, the first plate is He Shou Wu (Polygonum multiflorum), the second plate is Snow Lotus, and the third large box contains smaller boxes containing Ginseng."

Doctor Huang looked at Su Xingran with some excitement. He hadn't expected her to recognize the medicinal herbs and name them accurately. Although he had some doubts, he quickly masked them. One could say he felt a sense of excitement and comfort, and a hint of longing flashed in his eyes as he looked at Su Xingran.

Su Xingran looked at Grandpa Huang, who was suddenly agitated but remained silent, somewhat puzzled. She saw emotions in his eyes that she didn't quite understand. It wasn't entirely her fault, really. In her previous life, she was only seventeen, with no life experience. Later, she traveled to another small world in another timeline, where she was like a bot, completing tasks as they came. Now, she was just a child; how could she possibly understand the emotions in an adult's eyes?

Xingran, tell Grandpa Huang, besides these herbs, do you recognize any other herbs? Do you know the effects of these herbs?

Grandpa Huang, I also recognize some simple, common herbs, the kind that grow in the mountains. I know a little about their medicinal properties, but I don't really understand them; I've read about some of them in books.

Su Xingran was actually worried that if she talked too much, Grandpa Huang would become suspicious. Little did she know, she had already revealed her weakness. A soul riddled with wounds, returning to her familiar yet alien body—an adult soul in a child's body—there was an inherent sense of incongruity. Su Xingran still needed to grow, needed self-control.
