"Xiaoxue, I'm going back to my unit tomorrow. I'll come see you again when I have time off. I'm so happy today, we're finally engaged." Gu Moting said to Xiao Xue as they walked.
Hearing that Gu Moting was going back to his unit the next day, Xiao Xue felt a little disappointed. They hadn't even had a chance to spend much time together since Gu Moting came.
Xiao Xue wanted to say something, but didn't know what to say, so she could only remain silent and walk away quietly.
Gu Moting waited a while but didn't get a response from Xiao Xue. He pursed his lips, looked around, and found no one on the road. Gu Moting took Xiao Xue's hand and walked quickly forward.
Xiao Xue was startled by Gu Moting's actions. Enveloped in his warm hand, her heart pounded. She let Gu Moting pull her along.
It wasn't until Gu Moting led her to a deserted, dark alley that Xiao Xue realized where she was. "Moting, why did you bring me here?" After saying this, Xiao Xue felt incredibly stupid.
"Why won't you answer me? Why won't you speak?" Gu Moting whispered in Xiao Xue's ear.
A warm breath brushed against her ear, and the scent of a mature, masculine man filled the air. Xiao Xue felt her legs go weak; it was the first time she had been so close to a man. Xiao Xue was so nervous she didn't know what to do.
"Xue'er, will you regret being with me? I'm a soldier, and we'll see each other less and less in the future. I won't be able to be by your side often, and I won't be able to know everything about you right away."
Xiao Xue was still immersed in the feeling of Gu Moting's closeness and didn't react to his question for a while. When she tried to answer, her mouth was covered by a gag after she had just uttered the first word.
Startled, Xiao Xue struggled a few times at first, but gradually relaxed and immersed herself in the world Gu Moting was leading her to explore. Their hearts drew closer, their lips and saliva mingled, a secret unknown to anyone in the dark alley, belonging only to these two lovers.
After an unknown amount of time, Gu Moting finally stopped. He whispered in Xiao Xue's ear in a low, husky voice, "Xue'er, it's no use regretting it now. You can only belong to me, Gu Moting. I, Gu Moting, will never let you go, even if it means my death."
Xiao Xue felt as if all her breath had been sucked out, and she gasped for air. "I don't regret it, as long as it's you, I won't regret it. I know you're a soldier, and I know being a military wife isn't easy. But I'm willing to accept it for you. I only hope that you'll always come back safely from your missions."
"It's not that I don't want to answer your question, it's that I don't know how to say it. Hearing that you're leaving makes me feel a little lost and sad, but I have to accept your departure."
Hearing Xiao Xue's tearful words, Gu Moting hugged her tightly. His heart was filled with both sweetness and pain; the person he loved loved him, but he was leaving her tomorrow. He didn't know when they would meet again.
Gu Moting took a box out of his pocket, opened it, and revealed two silver rings. He took out the woman's ring, knelt on one knee, and presented it to Xiao Xue.
"Xue'er, I bought these rings when I went back after seeing you last time. I've been looking for an opportunity to give them to you today. Would you be willing to marry me and start a family together?"
Xiao Xue was shocked by Gu Moting's actions, and her eyes welled up with tears. Without hesitation, Xiao Xue reached out her hand.
When Gu Moting saw his beloved reach out her hand, he quickly slipped the ring onto Xiao Xue's middle finger. The ring finger was reserved for the wedding day.
"Xue'er, I'll get a marriage certificate as soon as I get back. I'll ask my parents to choose a good date so we can get married as soon as possible. Okay?"
"Okay, whatever you say. Be careful on your missions after you go back tomorrow. I'll be waiting for you at home to come back and marry me." Xiao Xue said, leaning against Gu Moting's chest.
Gu Moting didn't speak again, holding Xiao Xue tightly in his arms. He felt his whole heart was filled with Xiao Xue. The two lovers remained silently embracing, not letting go for a long time...
