Duan Yuming watched Su Xingran dawdle as she approached. His stern face nearly faltered; this girl always risked her life in dangerous situations. If he didn't teach her a lesson, she'd dare do it again.
Seeing Uncle Duan's increasingly serious face, Su Xingran inwardly groaned. It was the first time she had ever seen Uncle Duan give her such a cold shoulder, and she wondered how she could salvage the situation.
“Uncle Duan, well… a man with a stern face ages easily and no woman will like him. You need to smile more to look younger, so that I can find an auntie sooner.”
"Pfft," an untimely laugh rang out. Gu Moli's comrade-in-arms was laughing so hard his shoulders were shaking. "Sorry, I couldn't help it."
The young soldier couldn't help but laugh out loud. He was so amazed by Su Xingran's decisive and cool actions that he was practically starry-eyed. But the decisive and cool girl turned around and started telling lame jokes, all while looking at him with a cautious and ingratiating expression.
The reversal of these two extremes was somewhat comical, and even the brothers Gu Moting and Gu Moli couldn't help but smile. Duan Yuming's expression cracked; this girl actually said he was old? Was he really that old?
Duan Yuming asked himself this question, but when he thought about how he was older than Su Xingran's father, he had to admit that he was indeed getting old.
"You little brat, if you dare do that again, I'll tell your master. He'll teach you a lesson, or you'll be climbing on the roof and tearing the tiles off. Do you hear me? Got it?"
Duan Yuming still couldn't bring himself to punish Su Xingran. He knew her motives were good; he was worried about her getting hurt or having an accident. In his heart, he was more than just Su Xingran's martial arts instructor; he treated her like his own niece.
Seeing that Uncle Duan's expression had softened, Su Xingran immediately stood at attention and saluted. "Reporting to Comrade Duan Yuming, Su Xingran said she heard it and remembered it."
"Comrade Su Xingran, my name is Gu Moli, and I am a soldier stationed on the border of Heilongjiang Province. I am very grateful for your help and for your life-saving rescue just now, pushing me away from the gun."
Gu Moli stood in front of Su Xingran, straightened his body, raised his right hand, and gave Su Xingran a military salute.
Gu Moli's comrade-in-arms also walked up to Su Xingran. "Comrade Su, my name is Shao Fei, and I am Moli's comrade-in-arms. Thank you very much for your help." Shao Fei also stood up straight and saluted.
Su Xingran also saluted Gu Moli and Shao Fei, saying, "This is the one who put the things in my luggage bag first. The things are here, and I'm handing them over to you. Also, cracking down on criminals is the duty of every Chinese citizen. I will fully cooperate if there is anything else I need to do."
Su Xingran knew that having seen the map would be subject to some scrutiny. She thought it was normal and would simply cooperate with the investigation.
"Xingran, Moting, let's go downstairs. Your master and Xiaoxue are getting impatient waiting outside. Let Moli and his comrades handle this matter."
Duan Yuming hadn't forgotten what Uncle Huang had said to him and Mo Ting when they boarded the train. "Yuming, Mo Ting, I beg you, please make sure Xingran comes down safely."
Duan Yuming led Su Xingran and Gu Moting off the train. Gu Moli watched Su Xingran's retreating figure, feeling his heart beating abnormally fast.
"Mo Li, what are you looking at? What should we do with this person?" Shao Fei nudged Gu Mo Li's arm.
Gu Moli shifted her gaze from the exit back to the bound man. "Get him off the train first, then take him to the Beijing Military Region Headquarters and detain him for investigation."
Dr. Huang and Xiao Xue sat on the train outside the train station, both staring out the window. Time passed, but the person they were waiting for still hadn't appeared.
