The next morning, Su Xingran sent a telegram to her parents to let them know she was safe. Beijing was quite far from Jilin Province, so Xiao Xue's coworkers and friends couldn't make it to her wedding.
Last night, Su Xingran agreed to be Xiao Xue's bridesmaid, and she and Xiao Yu accompanied Xiao Xue to her wedding. Xiao Xue's future mother-in-law, Liang Yun, pulled Su Xingran along to the department store to buy clothes.
Upon arriving at the department store, Liang Yun took Xiao Xue and Su Xingran's hands and led them into the cheongsam shop. Xiao Xue's wedding dress was a red cheongsam dress. It had been ordered beforehand, and they were there to try it on.
Su Xingran and Liang Yun waited outside for Xiao Xue to change into her cheongsam. Liang Yun brought out a white cheongsam dress and asked Su Xingran to try it on, but Su Xingran shook her head and refused.
“Aunt Gu, Xiao Xue’s cheongsam is quite suitable for her wedding, so I don’t need it. I have clothes; my eldest and second sisters-in-law bought me a lot, but I haven’t had a chance to wear them yet.”
Su Xingran felt that wearing a cheongsam and looking like a bride was a bit too much of a distraction. The main characters were the bride and groom, and although she was a bridesmaid, she should be more simple and plain.
A smile flashed across Liang Yun's face. This child was truly considerate and sensible. She simply thought the cheongsam was beautiful and suited Su Xingran's temperament perfectly. She wanted to buy it for the child so she could wear it anytime.
"Xingran, your aunt thinks this cheongsam suits you very well, and she wants to buy it for you. You don't have to wear it on your wedding day. You can wear it whenever you want. We'll go try it on later, and if it looks good, we'll buy it."
As the two were talking, Xiao Xue came out after changing into a cheongsam. Su Xingran looked at Xiao Xue in her cheongsam and realized that a cheongsam really could show off a woman's charm and figure.
Liang Yun's eyes lit up when she saw Xiao Xue. Xiao Xue usually wore loose-fitting clothes, so she really hadn't realized how good her figure was. She was curvaceous, with all the right curves. Her husband, Mo Ting, was truly blessed.
Xiao Xue was being watched by both men. Su Xingran's gaze was pleasant, a pure and clear appreciation. Liang Yun's gaze, however, was that of an adult, tainted appreciation. Xiao Xue's ears burned, and her face flushed.
Liang Yun, lost in her thoughts of her son, was completely oblivious to the raw intensity of her gaze. Her eldest daughter-in-law's face practically burned with embarrassment. Su Xingran noticed Xiao Xue's unease and glanced at Liang Yun.
If Liang Yun weren't a woman, and Xiao Xue's future mother-in-law at that, Su Xingran would have beaten her up like a thug. I wonder what Mo Ting would think if he knew his own mother was staring at his daughter-in-law's figure with such gleam in her eyes.
"Aunt Gu, Sister Xiao Xue looks beautiful in this cheongsam." Su Xingran saw that Aunt Gu was still in a daze, so she had to call out to her.
"Right! It looks great, it really shows off her figure, with a perfect hourglass shape. Mo Ting will be so excited when he sees it, that brat is really lucky. Ah! No... no, what Auntie means is that it looks great, it's really beautiful, Mo Ting will definitely like it when he sees it, sigh... what Auntie means is..." Liang Yun, who had accidentally blurted out her true feelings, wished she could sew her mouth shut.
Upon hearing her future mother-in-law's words, Xiao Xue felt like a shrimp thrown into a hot oil pan, completely cooked. She wished she could disappear into a hole on the spot.
Su Xingran quietly moved a few steps away. She was still a child; she couldn't listen to these adult pronouncements. She was a little skeptical about how Aunt Gu, with her personality, could have given birth to two seemingly aloof sons.
Su Xingran noticed something. Last night, she saw Uncle Gu, and he seemed to be quite old, much older than Aunt Gu, a typical case of an older man marrying a younger woman.
If Brother Mo Ting calls Master "Uncle," then Master's wife is Uncle Gu's sister. Forget it, Su Xingran is too lazy to deal with this; it's too much of a headache.
In the end, Su Xingran still didn't want the cheongsam, and Liang Yun couldn't persuade her otherwise, so he had to give up. The three of them then went for a stroll, ate some local Beijing snacks, and headed home.
