Chapter 179 Gu Moli Has a High Fever (1/2)

Battalion Commander Wu Guohui of the Third Squad: "Comrades, pack up your things and put out the firewood on the ground. We're preparing to head back. Two people will carry your wounded comrades and the intruder who can't walk. When you get tired, take turns. Comrades, be vigilant on the way back with the intruder."

The group extinguished the burning firewood on the ground, dug a pit, and buried the burnt charcoal inside. They then packed up their belongings and equipment and escorted the invaders back home.

The return journey was easier than the way they had come, as they followed the route that had been cleared on the way there. The men were tied up in a line, with soldiers pulling them from the front. Some of the men were uncooperative and refused to move, stopping in their tracks. They were thinking that since they were already prisoners, they might as well lie down and let the Chinese soldiers carry them away.

Battalion Commander Wu Guohui squinted at the prisoner who was acting like a spoiled child. He walked over and kicked the man in the leg. "Get on with your body and walk properly. You're a prisoner now and you still think you're the boss."

The man winced in pain and glared fiercely at Wu Guohui. He hadn't expected the Chinese soldiers to act so unpredictably. He'd heard that China valued its people and that its soldiers treated prisoners of war well, but this was clearly not the case at all.

Wu Guohui sneered. Don't think he doesn't know what these people are thinking. Chinese soldiers do treat prisoners of war well, but it depends on the type of prisoner. Prisoners who cooperate with the operation will naturally be treated well, but those who don't cooperate and scheme don't deserve the soldiers' kindness.

"The comrade leading the team, keep going. I'll shoot anyone who doesn't cooperate. Weren't you so brave during the invasion? What are you pretending for now? Humph!"

Wu Guohui drew his pistol from his waist, cocked it, and pointed it at the foreign men, cursing. His comrades lay there, wounded and uncertain of life or death. These bastards were getting too cocky. If it weren't for his uniform, he would have given them a good beating.

The foreign men didn't cause any trouble after that. Didn't you see the Chinese soldier next to them with a gun, ready to shoot at any moment? They were just afraid that if they were shot and didn't die, they would have to keep walking.

After walking and stopping for more than five hours, they finally emerged from the jungle. Along the way, Gu Moli developed a fever, and the military doctor Qin gave him medicine, but the fever still couldn't completely subside.

Upon arriving at the assembly point, Wu Guohui explained the situation to his superiors and quickly took Gu Moli to the nearest hospital for treatment. Doctor Qin and Shao Fei accompanied him to the hospital, while the other soldiers escorted the prisoner back to his unit.

When Gu Mo arrived at the hospital, he already had a high fever. His face was flushed red, and he was talking incoherently. Doctor Qin frowned; he knew it was definitely an infection of the wound, given the harsh conditions and the fact that the wound was covered in dirt.

There was still a bullet stuck in his abdomen; he needed to have surgery to remove it as soon as his fever subsided. Shao Fei used his identification to communicate with the hospital nurses, and soon the hospital director arrived.

Upon learning that a soldier from the military had been injured during a mission and needed medical attention, the hospital director quickly arranged for a ward and doctors to provide treatment. Gu Moli was wheeled into the ward and put on an IV drip, and his wounds were disinfected and cleaned again.

The gunshot wound in his back, the gunshot wound in his abdomen, and the knife cut were all starting to become infected and oozing pus. Doctor Qin was helping the other doctors treat them, while Shao Fei watched from the side, his eyes reddening. Gu Moli didn't need to suffer like this; it was all to save him. He so wished Gu Moli could have been a little more selfish, so he wouldn't have to lie in this hospital bed suffering.
