Huang Zhenhua heard the noise outside while he was in the main hall. He was reading a book, but when he looked up at the door, he saw Xiao Zhanguo, whom he hadn't seen for more than ten years.
Xiao Zhanguo's hands trembled slightly as he looked at Huang Zhenhua, whom he hadn't seen for over ten years. "Zhenhua, it's been so long. I hope you're doing well."
"Okay, I'm doing very well. How about you?" Huang Zhenhua said with some excitement on his face.
"Okay, I haven't been back for long either. I brought the kids here today to thank your Xingran for saving me, and also to come and see you."
“Uncle Huang, it’s been a long time. I’ve been wanting to visit you, but I haven’t found the right time. It just so happens that my father is back, so the whole family can come together.” Xiao Baizhuang stepped forward and said to Huang Zhenhua.
The other members of the Xiao family also stepped forward to greet Huang Zhenhua, as they, too, hadn't seen him for a long time.
"You all sit down and chat. Old Xiao Xingran told me about how she saved you when she came back that day. You should be more careful when you go out in the future. You're getting older now, and things aren't the same as before," Huang Zhenhua advised earnestly.
Xiao Zhanguo smiled and said, "Zhenhua, your Xingran said the same thing as you. She also told me the same thing. You've taken on a good apprentice. She has the same benevolent heart as you and Qingxiao."
"Xingran, these are gifts prepared by our family. Please accept them. You saved Grandpa Xiao, so even if it's not for anything else, consider it a gift from Grandpa Xiao and your brother and sister-in-law to you."
The Xiao family brought gifts, which were selected and bought by the wives of the two Xiao brothers. They were all items for girls.
Su Xingran quickly waved her hand to refuse. She didn't save the person for gratitude or gifts. It's normal for patients to receive consultation fees for treatment, but she had no contact with the patient when she saved them, there was no doctor-patient relationship, and she only acted out of instinct and moral principles to help a stranger.
“Grandpa Xiao, no need. I saved you out of instinct and moral principles. As a doctor, I can’t just stand by and watch someone die. Your family doesn’t need to take this to heart.”
How could Xiao Zhanguo let Su Xingran refuse? He genuinely admired this young junior. "Xingran, Grandpa Xiao said this is a gift from everyone to you, so you must accept it. You saved Grandpa Xiao's life, so if you ever need Grandpa Xiao or the Xiao family's help in the future, just ask and we'll do our best."
Huang Zhenhua smiled. If his little apprentice were to shine brightly in the future, he feared that some people would try to overshadow that brilliance. With the promise from Lao Xiao and the Xiao family, Xingran would have an extra powerful helper in the future.
"Xingran, please accept it! Your Grandpa Xiao said it's a gift from their family. As a junior, you can't refuse this gift." Huang Zhenhua gave Su Xingran a reasonable way out.
Su Xingran glanced at her master and saw him nod at her. Su Xingran knew what to do. "Please excuse my poor manners. Xingran accepts your gifts and is very grateful."
"Grandpa Xiao, Brother Xiao, Sister-in-law Xiao, Second Brother Xiao, and Second Sister-in-law Xiao, Xingran also has some gifts for you. Please sit here for a while, I'll go back to my room to get them."
