Su Xingran was unaware that Xiao Bolin had already gone to Stone Town and confirmed that Xiao Dingyu was indeed Old Master Xiao's grandson. She had thought these matters had nothing to do with her, but unexpectedly, she ended up getting involved.
On Sunday, while Su Xingran was helping out at the pharmacy, Xiao Xue, Gu Moyue, and Liang Yun came to the pharmacy together. Since Su Xingran wasn't busy at that time, she was a little surprised to see Liang Yun and the others.
Su Xingran looked at the three of them, "Aunt Gu, Sister-in-law Xiaoxue, Sister Moyue, what brings you here? Is there something you need?"
Liang Yun's eyes lit up when he saw Su Xingran. "Xingran, we came to find you. Xiaoxue, Xiaoyue, and I were shopping at the department store when we thought of you and came here to find you at the pharmacy."
Gu Moyue walked up to Su Xingran and said, "The pharmacy isn't busy right now, Xingran, why don't you come with us for a stroll?"
Hearing this from the side, Aunt Li said to Su Xingran, "Xingran, why don't you go shopping with Xiaoyun and the others? It's not too busy right now, your Uncle Li and I are here! Young people can't just stay in school and work all the time."
Four out of the five women in the room wanted her to go shopping, so Su Xingran couldn't very well refuse, as that would be too disappointing. "Okay, I'll go to the department store with you."
After Su Xingran and Liang Yun left the pharmacy, Aunt Li said to Uncle Li sitting next to her, "Old Li, look at Xingran, she's such a good girl. During her holidays, she always comes to help out at the pharmacy and doesn't go anywhere else."
Uncle Li nodded in agreement with his wife's statement. Xingran was indeed a very honest child. Most of the children they knew, around Xingran's age, would go out to play when they came home for holidays. Xingran, however, came to the pharmacy to keep the two old folks company.
Liang Yun led the three girls straight to the department store. Su Xingran wasn't particularly interested in shopping; she usually just bought what she needed and left. Liang Yun and Gu Moyue, on the other hand, loved browsing and buying things.
The four of them were looking at shoes. Xiao Xue and Gu Moyue wanted to buy shoes. Su Xingran had just bought her new shoes a few days ago, and she was just sitting next to them, accompanying them.
Xiao Xue took a liking to a pair of shoes and asked the salesperson to bring over the right size for her to try on. Just as the salesperson handed the shoes over, someone reached out and took them away.
Xiao Xue watched as her shoes were intercepted and taken away. She turned around to see who it was. Her brows furrowed at the sight of the person who took the shoes. The person was a girl who looked to be about eighteen or nineteen years old, and standing next to her were two women and a girl in her early twenties.
Xiao Xue recognized one of the women; it was Du Shulan, the one who had come to her door last time to ask her to let Zhou Siyun go. She was glaring fiercely at Xiao Xue. Xiao Xue thought this woman was acting strangely; what right did she have to be angry when her daughter had done something wrong?
"I first picked out these shoes and asked the salesperson to bring me the size to try on. If you like them too, you can ask the salesperson to get them for you," Xiao Xue said, looking at the girl who was getting the shoes.
As Xiao Xue spoke, she turned to face the girl. The woman standing behind the girl stared at Xiao Xue's face, utterly shocked. The face bore a striking resemblance to the deceased woman.
The girl holding the shoes turned the soles over to check the size. "These size fits me perfectly. I'm going to try them on. Since we haven't paid yet, whoever gets the item first gets it. These shoes are a waste for a country bumpkin like you."
Upon hearing this, Xiao Xue's face flushed with anger. This girl was too domineering and had no manners whatsoever. Xiao Xue couldn't hold back any longer and retorted directly, "If you say things like that, then no one needs to queue when they go shopping. Whoever grabs it first gets it. What's the difference between you and a bandit? You're so young, yet you sound like a country bumpkin. Leaders say farmers are great. Do you think they're wrong?"
The girl panicked for a moment upon hearing this, then her face turned furious. "What nonsense are you spouting? You're trying to harm me! If I don't teach you a lesson, you'll really think you're something special."
