Chapter 218 Gu Moting's Injuries (1/2)

Gu Moting's body was completely wrapped in white, blood-stained gauze, from his abdomen to his armpits. Xiao Xue stood in front of Gu Moting, tears streaming down her face. She reached out and gently stroked the white, blood-stained gauze.

Xiao Xue suddenly squatted down on the ground, buried her head in her knees, and began to cry. Afraid that her crying would be heard by her in-laws and sister-in-law at home, Xiao Xue sobbed in a low voice. Her body trembled with each sob.

Xiao Xue felt like her heart was about to break. Gu Moting's body was wrapped in so many bandages, and the bandages were covered in blood. She knew that it was common for soldiers to get injured, but seeing this scene was really hard for her to accept.

Gu Moting didn't even bother to put on his clothes. He quickly squatted down, pressing on his wound without caring at all. Gu Moting used his good hand to hold Xiao Xue's hand, "Xue'er, don't cry, okay? I'm really fine. The wound is wrapped up so much to prevent infection. Please get up first, okay? We can talk about it slowly."

Xiao Xue knew that Gu Moting had also squatted down. Worried that he would press on the wound, she quickly looked up at him. "Mo... Moting, you... you stand up first, don't press on the wound."

Gu Moting obediently stood up, using his uninjured hand to pull Xiao Xue to her feet. Worried about Gu Moting's injury, Xiao Xue quickly struggled to her feet as well. Seeing the white, blood-stained gauze again, Xiao Xue couldn't hold back her tears.

With a choked voice, Xiao Xue asked Gu Moting, "Moting, it must hurt a lot! How did you get so badly injured? Are you planning to hide it from me?"

Gu Moting gently pulled Xiao Xue close, letting her lean against him. "Xue'er, don't cry. Getting injured on a mission is inevitable. These are just superficial wounds and will heal in a while. I didn't tell you because I was afraid you would be sad and cry. I already feel guilty for not being able to be with you, and it would hurt my heart to make you sad and cry."

"Several comrades were injured during this mission, and we all have sick leave to wait until we recover before returning to the unit. I only found out about your accident when I received a letter from Mo Li after returning from the mission. So I reported to my superiors and came back as soon as possible."

Gu Moting didn't tell Xiao Xue the truth; all his injuries were from knife wounds. He had several wounds from his chest to his abdomen, and two wounds on his back, one of which was so deep that you could see the bone.

At the mission site, the military medic gave him basic first aid. Back at his unit, he went to the hospital for further treatment. After a day in the hospital, a comrade who was uninjured came to visit him and brought him a letter. Ignoring the doctor's objections, Gu Moting returned to his unit, reported to his superiors, and had a comrade take him to the train station. He managed to catch a train, bought a ticket, and rushed home.

In his haste, his wounds reopened, and blood seeped out, staining the gauze. Anxious and distraught, Gu Moting paid no heed to this; all he wanted was to see his wife as soon as possible.

Gu Moting could feel the bleeding from the wound on his back. He glanced at Xiao Xue, who was leaning against him; his wound needed treatment, or it would get worse. Gu Moting didn't want it to get any worse, so he needed to go to his uncle's house.

Gu Moting released Xiao Xue. "Xue'er, I need to go to my uncle's house. Will you wait for me at home?"

Xiao Xue looked at Gu Moting with some confusion. They had just returned from dinner not long ago. Her uncle had been there too; why couldn't he have said so earlier and insisted on going home first? Xiao Xue had questions in her mind as she looked at the gauze wrapped around Gu Moting's body.

Xiao Xue looked up at Gu Moting's face, and she felt that his complexion had worsened. She walked from in front of him to behind, and upon seeing him, she bit her lip hard. Most of the gauze on Gu Moting's back was stained red with blood, the bloodstains still wet.

“Go…go to your uncle’s house right now, Mo Ting, your back is bleeding.” Xiao Xue said, her voice trembling.
