Chapter 236 Victory in the War, Reunion (1/2)

On March 4th, several Chinese troops organized into assault groups. Using heavy artillery fire to clear the way, braving the billowing smoke, the Chinese troops crossed the Qiqiong River via the bridge, assault boats, and rubber dinghies.

The enemy put up a fierce resistance to the Chinese forces' attack. The Chinese troops, with their superior numbers, quickly inflicted heavy casualties on the enemy. The Chinese troops fought valiantly, and ultimately the main force of the enemy was essentially annihilated. Lang Son was completely captured, and the Chinese troops advanced several kilometers southwards towards the Ky Cung River.

Su Xingran, who knew the course of the war, knew that the Chinese government would issue a statement tomorrow announcing the complete withdrawal of Chinese border troops back into China. This self-defense counterattack was about to come to an end.

Su Xingran returned to the logistics department today after working on the front lines for so many days. She had blisters on her feet, her heels were chafed, and she had abrasions and bruises all over her body. She was completely exhausted. So when it was time to be relieved, she chose to return to the logistics department.

Back in the logistics department, Su Xingran was busy treating the wounded soldiers' external injuries and stitching up the wounds that needed stitching.

"Doctor, come quick! My comrade has fainted!" a soldier shouted.

Having just finished treating her wounds, Su Xingran heard a voice that sounded familiar. Following the sound, she saw the face of the man shouting; his face was filthy. Su Xingran recognized him as Shao Fei, Gu Moli's comrade-in-arms.

Shao Fei noticed the medical tag on Su Xingran's arm. He said to Su Xingran, "Doctor, please take a look at my comrade, what's wrong with him?"

Su Xingran looked at Gu Moli lying on the stretcher and knelt down to check him. He had a pulse, was breathing, and his heart was beating. Su Xingran looked at his military uniform and saw obvious bullet holes.

Su Xingran cut open the fabric around the bullet hole in the shirt, revealing a bullet hole above the left chest. Su Xingran closed her eyes briefly and said to Shao Fei, who was standing beside her, "Your comrade must have been exhausted, bleeding from the gunshot wound, and couldn't hold on any longer, which is why he fainted."

"You carry him into the operating room inside, take off his shirt, and I'll treat his wounds and remove the bullet." After saying that, Su Xingran stood up to get the first-aid kit she had brought.

Shao Fei and his comrades quickly lifted Gu Moli and carried her to the operating room, placing her on an operating table. Su Xingran glanced at Shao Fei, who was also injured, and said, "You guys go rest outside. I'll call you when you're ready."

Shao Fei led his comrades out, feeling that the female doctor's voice sounded familiar. He thought for a moment and realized the voice resembled Su Xingran's, but then quickly dismissed his own thoughts. Su Xingran was still a student; how could she possibly be here?

Su Xingran sterilized the scalpel and tweezers again. She took out a pill from her spatial storage and put it into Gu Moli's mouth, then gently lifted his jaw to let the pill slide down. Su Xingran then used silver needles to insert them into several acupoints to achieve anesthesia.

Su Xingran used a scalpel to cut open the flesh. The bullet was embedded quite deep, and it took her some time to remove it. After removing the bullet, Su Xingran treated, disinfected, and bandaged the wound.

Su Xingran removed the gauze and bandages from Gu Moli's head. The wound on his forehead was inflamed and oozing pus. Su Xingran disinfected and cleaned the wound, then loosely applied clean gauze to prevent bacterial infection and allow it to breathe, which would help the wound heal.

Su Xingran also treated the wounds on Gu Moli's arms again. Looking at the old wounds on Gu Moli's abdomen—obvious knife and gunshot wounds—Su Xingran guessed that this was the injury Gu Moli sustained when he went home to recuperate last time.
