Chapter 252 Dream (1/2)

After Su Xingran left with the documents, the leader sat there pondering. After a long while, he muttered to himself, "The world is vast and full of wonders. Doctor Gu, is that you? Or another great warrior, reincarnated with memories? But history cannot be changed, so let nature take its course!"

The war began on July 12th, with the Vietnamese army launching a fierce artillery barrage. The Chinese artillery counterattacked, suppressing the Vietnamese infantry battalions and armored vehicles with artillery fire.

Chinese soldiers fought bravely amidst the smoke and devastation of war, determined to defeat the Vietnamese army. Gu Moli was one of these valiant soldiers, unaware that his beloved girl had also joined the war effort.

Su Xingran hid among thousands of soldiers, tending to the wounded while keeping an eye on the approaching time. She remembered that in her dream, Gu Moli was shot in the heart from behind by an enemy soldier feigning death at the end of the war, and then collapsed and died.

Time was drawing near, and the battle was on its final countdown. Su Xingran had found the location from her dream, and she awaited the scene from her dream. When the battle was won, Su Xingran finally saw Gu Moli's figure.

Gu Moli was standing in the same spot Su Xingran had been in, his back to her as he looked ahead. Completely unaware, however, that an enemy soldier was slowly inching forward on the ground behind him.

The enemy soldier pulled a gun from his pocket and aimed it at Gu Moli's heart. Just as he was about to pull the trigger and kill the Chinese soldier, someone shot his gun from the side. Soon, bullets pierced his body repeatedly until he lay lifeless on the ground.

Gu Moli heard a gunshot behind him and turned around in surprise. He saw a girl on his right holding a gun, poised to fire. Gu Moli recognized her; the girl was Su Xingran, the one he missed.

Gu Moli felt a sharp pain in his heart, as if it had been pierced by a bullet. Looking at the enemy soldier lying on the ground, still holding his gun, Gu Moli knew that the gunshots had been fired to protect him. He knew the source of those gunshots was the girl before him, the one who had captured his heart.

Gu Moli was absolutely certain that his girl had come for him. For a fleeting moment, Gu Moli felt as if he had experienced being shot through the heart from behind and then collapsing to the ground dead.

Su Xingran looked at Gu Moli without speaking; she knew he had survived this near-death experience. They had things to do and no time for heartfelt conversations. Gu Moli understood the meaning in Su Xingran's eyes and nodded slightly to her. The two continued with what they needed to do.

The Chinese forces won the war, inflicting heavy casualties on the Vietnamese army, which was temporarily unable to retaliate. This battle brought temporary peace to the Chinese border.

Gu Moli, a soldier from another unit, was about to return to his original unit after winning the battle. On this day, Gu Moli found Su Xingran and took her to a temporary military office.

Before Su Xingran could speak, Gu Moli held her tightly in his arms. This was their first close encounter, and Su Xingran did not struggle, letting Gu Moli hold her tightly.

After a long while, Gu Moli said in a hoarse voice, "Ranran, why are you here? So this is what you meant by 'we'll see each other again soon.' Ranran, you saved me. Without you, I can't go back. But I'm also so worried about your safety, worried that you might get hurt."

Su Xingran didn't speak, but gently patted Gu Moli's back. Su Xingran didn't deny that she had indeed come to save Gu Moli. She didn't deny that over the years, Gu Moli had taken root in her heart. Su Xingran didn't know when it started.
