Besides the staff member who processed the certificate, Gu Moli also distributed wedding candy to the other staff members. He even distributed it to the couples who came to get their marriage certificates, all the way from inside the Civil Affairs Bureau to the main entrance.
Su Xingran stood to the side, watching the man smiling as he handed out wedding candy to others. Su Xingran smiled too; she could sense that Gu Moli was genuinely happy. He wanted everyone to know they had gotten their marriage certificate.
Even after getting into the car, Gu Moli still had a faint smile on his face. His heart was overflowing with joy; it was wonderful that he had finally registered his marriage with the girl he loved. From now on, Su Xingran would be his Mrs. Gu.
Gu Moli smiled and said to Su Xingran, "Ranran, thank you for getting our marriage certificate. I don't know how long I've been looking forward to this day. I once thought that if I hadn't waited for you, my life would not be complete. So I choose to dedicate my life to the military uniform I wear."
Su Xingran reached out and placed her hand on Gu Moli's hand, looking into Gu Moli's eyes, and said, "Marriage and partners are not choices that I must have in my life. When I choose them, you, Gu Moli, are my only choice."
Upon hearing Su Xingran's words, Gu Moli intertwined his fingers with hers. Gu Moli knew that Su Xingran wouldn't directly say she liked or loved him, but he felt that her words were even more beautiful than a simple "I like you."
At this moment, Gu Moli really wanted to kiss his wife. But with people coming and going, he could only suppress the thought.
After having lunch outside, Gu Mo got out of the car and took Su Xingran for a walk. They rarely had time like this, to relax and enjoy themselves in Beijing together.
Gu Moli and Su Xingran both remembered their families and planned to have dinner together that evening to celebrate their marriage registration. In the afternoon, seeing the time, the two drove back to the Huang family home.
After arriving outside the Huang family's residence, Gu Moli parked the car. He helped Su Xingran unbuckle her seatbelt, and even at such close proximity, Gu Moli could smell the fragrance emanating from her. The thought from before began to resurface, and his throat bobbed.
Su Xingran's fingers twitched slightly as Gu Moli approached to unbuckle her seatbelt. She couldn't quite describe the feeling, but her heart was beating faster than usual.
After a struggle with his thoughts, Gu Moli casually got out of the car and went around to open the door for Su Xingran. The two walked into the house together, where Gu Moli's family was already sitting in the living room.
When the parents of both families saw them return, they quickly invited them to sit down. Liang Yun spoke first, asking, "Mo Li, Xing Ran, did you get your marriage certificates smoothly?"
Gu Moli took out two marriage certificates from his pocket and placed them on the coffee table. "I successfully got my marriage certificate with Xingran."
Zeng Huilan and Liang Yun picked up their marriage certificate and looked at it. As Liang Yun looked at it, she said, "This marriage certificate is different from ours. Back then, it was just a piece of paper, but now it's a booklet."
Zeng Huilan also said, "It's different now. Marriage certificates now have photos on them. Before, ours didn't have photos. There were only the two of our names on them."
Soon the others returned, and everyone congratulated the newlyweds. Su Xingran and Gu Moli immediately addressed their parents as "Mom and Dad." Both sets of parents prepared red envelopes for the couple.
The wedding was set for the following spring, the day after the Su couple arrived in Beijing. The Gu family visited to discuss the betrothal gifts, which were the same as those given to Xiao Xue. The Su couple were indifferent; they would give all the betrothal gifts from the Gu family to their daughter, Su Xingran.
