Chapter 257 Successful Treatment, Injured Person Awakens (1/2)

The nurse on duty saw Su Xingran get up and quickly called her. The hospital director had given instructions; this female doctor had been personally invited by a high-ranking leader. Their hospital couldn't afford to neglect her.

"Dr. Su, you're awake. Your family came to the hospital and saw you were resting, so they didn't let us wake you. Your family brought you some food, and we asked the cafeteria staff to keep it warm on the coal stove. I'll go get it for you now; please wait here for a while."

Su Xingran was a little confused. Could it be that her master had come looking for her? Su Xingran had originally wanted to find a cup to drink some water, but now that the nurse had run away, she had no choice but to sit aside and wait for someone to return.

A moment later, the nurse returned, carrying two insulated lunch boxes. She walked up to Su Xingran and said, "Dr. Su, these were brought by your family. They're hot and you can eat them now."

Su Xingran took the insulated lunchbox and asked, "May I ask which family member sent this food? When did my family member arrive and when did they leave?"

The nurse thought for a moment and said, "I didn't see anyone. My colleague told me about it. A man, a soldier, and a woman, probably in her early fifties, seemed to tell my colleague that she was his mother. I don't know exactly when they arrived. I took over the shift at midnight, and there was no one here when I took over. My colleague who was taking over the shift told me all this."

Su Xingran understood; the woman was her mother-in-law, and the man must be her older brother, Gu Moting. Su Xingran thanked the nurse and returned to her ward with the insulated lunchbox.

Su Xingran placed the lunchboxes on the table and opened the lids. One contained millet porridge, and the other contained chicken soup. Liang Yun had been thoughtful; she had prepared a soup spoon, as well as an empty bowl and spoon.

Su Xingran ladled out a bowl of millet porridge and began to eat. A smile appeared on her face as she ate. She was perhaps quite lucky; the Gu family had treated her the same way since they first met, and now she was part of the family.

After eating, Su Xingran felt that her strength had recovered considerably. Thinking of the injured patient who had undergone surgery during the day, Su Xingran left her resting ward and went to the patient's intensive care unit.

There were two soldiers guarding the entrance to the intensive care unit. Seeing this, Su Xingran realized that the researcher, whose life was hanging by a thread, must have been attacked. Su Xingran took out her identification and showed it to the guards.

After checking her identification, the guard saluted and knocked on the door, signaling the doctor on duty inside to open it. Su Xingran returned the salute and walked through the open door.

The on-duty doctor, upon seeing the newcomer, recognized Dr. Su, the surgeon who had performed the operation. He asked Su Xingran, "Are you Dr. Su?"

Su Xingran responded, "Yes, I am Dr. Su. How is the injured person? Are there any postoperative sequelae?" As Su Xingran answered the question, she had already walked to the bedside where the injured person was lying.

The on-duty doctor said, "The injured person is currently fine, but he hasn't woken up yet."

Su Xingran went over to check and found that the patient had no fever, a normal pulse, and normal breathing. As for the issue of not waking up, she would check on the situation again tomorrow.

Having confirmed the situation, Su Xingran didn't linger and returned to her ward. Checking the time, she saw that dawn would break in two or three hours. Su Xingran lay back down on the bed and went back to sleep.
