Chapter 259 Marriage (2/2)

Zeng Huilan looked at her daughter in her wedding dress, and her eyes involuntarily reddened. Before she knew it, her daughter had grown up and was about to get married. Not wanting to upset her daughter, Zeng Huilan quietly left the room.

Su Xingran sensed it the moment Zeng Huilan looked at her. Watching her mother leave the room, Su Xingran felt bad too. But she couldn't follow her out to comfort her; her mother had quietly left because she didn't want her to know.

At the Gu family's side, Gu Moli put on his new military uniform. At the beginning of the year, Gu Moli was officially promoted from battalion commander to deputy regimental commander. At ten o'clock in the morning, Gu Moli led the wedding procession from the Gu family to the Huang family.

At the Huang family's gate, someone shouted, "They're here! The wedding procession is here!" Everyone inside the house went to the gate to see. Five cars slowly drove towards the Huang family's house. One of these cars belonged to the Gu family, and the rest were borrowed from other families to be used as wedding cars.

Gu Moli got out of the car and walked at the front of the wedding procession. There were Su Xingran's great-grandfather and his family, her maternal grandparents, the village chief, and the brigade leader. They finally saw Su Xingran's fiancé, and he really was as they had imagined. Xingran's mother-in-law and brother-in-law were good-looking; presumably, her fiancé wouldn't be bad either.

The battalion commander, a retired soldier, looked at Gu Moli walking ahead in his military uniform and thought to himself, "It's true that a phoenix among men is matched with a dragon among men."

Also present today were the Deng Jianjun family, whom Huang Zhenhua had invited, and the Zhang Hengyuan family. Deng Jianjun's daughter, Deng Wenwen, was admitted to Peking University, majoring in journalism. She occasionally visits the Huang family for meals in Beijing and has a good relationship with Su Xingran.

Deng Chenhui never told his family that he had taken a liking to Su Xingran. He knew his father intended to arrange a marriage between their families, but Su Xingran had refused. He received no response to any of the letters he wrote to Su Xingran except for the first one.

Deng Chenhui hasn't found a partner yet. He knows that he wants someone like Su Xingran. Every time he sees Su Xingran's story in the news, his heart is moved even more.

Deng Chenhui returned home for the New Year holiday and happened to be there when Huang Zhenhua invited the Deng family to Su Xingran's wedding. He wanted to see what kind of man this man who married Su Xingran was. So he came to Beijing with his parents, and now he had finally seen this man.

Gu Moli felt someone staring at him, so he looked in the direction he sensed. He saw a man, and judging from the man's build, he was a soldier like himself. Out of politeness, Gu Moli nodded to the man, then turned back and walked through the doorway.

Deng Chenhui hadn't expected Gu Moli to look over. He'd heard Gu Moli was a deputy regimental commander; no wonder he was so alert. Deng Chenhui had to admit, this man and Su Xingran were a good match. At least in appearance, they were very compatible. As for ability, if he'd reached the position of deputy regimental commander entirely on his own, he was incredibly hardworking and capable for his age.

Gu Moli walked into the living room, approached Su Guomin and his wife, and called out, "Father, Mother, I've come to take Xingran home." Then he walked up to Huang Zhenhua and called out, "Master, Uncle, I've come to take Xingran home."
