Su Xingran went to the door and opened it. Xiao Xue came in carrying several food items on a rectangular plate. Xiao Xue placed the items on the dressing table and said, "Mo Li asked me to bring these to you. He's busy downstairs right now."
Xiao Xue looked at Su Xingran and smiled, saying, "Xingran, you look so beautiful today. On the day of my wedding with Mo Ting, we noticed that Mo Li treated you very differently. Now you've both had your weddings. Xingran, why don't you eat something to fill your stomach? I'll go downstairs to help out."
Su Xingran walked to the dressing table, where there were three small round plates on a long plate. They contained different kinds of pastries. Su Xingran took a piece of pastry and ate it; it tasted alright.
Midway through the journey, Gu Moli came upstairs again to bring Su Xingran a cup of water mixed with malted milk powder. When it was time to go to the restaurant, Gu Moli went upstairs and led Su Xingran downstairs.
All of Gu's relatives and friends had gone to the restaurant. When Su Xingran and Gu Moli came downstairs, only the wedding party members remained at home. Gu Junru and his wife needed to go to the restaurant early to make arrangements, while Gu Moting and his wife needed to help greet the guests.
Gu Moli and Su Xingran got into the wedding car, and the wedding cars that were taking the guests to the hotel had all returned. They were now lined up and following the main wedding car to the hotel.
The wedding car pulled up in front of the restaurant, and Gu Moli and Su Xingran got out. Family members from the Gu family, as well as the Huang and Su families, were present at the restaurant entrance. They welcomed the newlyweds inside.
Inside the hotel banquet hall, all the tables reserved for this wedding banquet were already full. The emcee of the wedding banquet walked onto the stage and announced the start of the wedding ceremony.
Gu Moli stood on the stage. Su Xingran hadn't gone into the banquet hall earlier; instead, she stood outside with Huang Zhenhua and Su Guomin. They would escort Su Xingran inside once the wedding ceremony began.
Just then, the emcee announced the start of the wedding ceremony. Su Xingran placed her hands on the crooks of her master's and father's arms, and they led her into the banquet hall.
As Gu Moli watched Su Xingran walk towards him step by step, he didn't let her walk indefinitely. Instead, halfway up the stage, Gu Moli went downstairs, took Su Xingran's hand from her master and father, and led her onto the stage together.
Gu Moli and Su Xingran were both soldiers, one a soldier and the other a military doctor. After they finished reciting their wedding vows...
Gu Moli took the microphone and said to his family, friends, and wedding guests, "Please, all my family, friends, and wedding guests, bear witness to this."
"Today, I, Gu Moli, marry Su Xingran. From this day forward until our hair turns white, I, Gu Moli, will be loyal to the country, the people, and my wife, Su Xingran. I will cherish her and protect her. In our family, everything, big or small, will be decided by my wife, Su Xingran. I will never let my wife, Su Xingran, suffer any injustice because of me. Finally, thank you all for attending my wedding with my wife, Su Xingran."
Friends, family, and guests in the audience applauded. The men admired Gu Moli for speaking in front of so many people. The women envied Su Xingran for receiving such a public declaration of love from her husband; Gu Moli's words were always about his wife, Su Xingran.
Su Xingran lowered her head and chuckled softly, then quickly raised it again. She took Gu Moli's hand, and Gu Moli returned the gesture. The two newlyweds stepped off the stage, preparing for the next part of the toasting ceremony.
The banquet dishes and drinks were served quickly, and everyone began to eat. Gu Moli, along with Su Xingran, started toasting from the first table. Gu Moli and Su Xingran drank plain water; no one was trying to force them to drink alcohol.
