Su Xingran thought about it and realized it made sense; it could be returned to her master's descendants later. Thinking this, Su Xingran felt much lighter. She turned to look at Gu Moli and, for the first time, kissed his cheek.
After kissing someone, Su Xingran turned back to continue opening the red envelopes she had received at the banquet. Completely unaware that Gu Moli behind her was beaming with joy.
Liang Yun and Gu Junru didn't return until noon. Su Xingran and Gu Moli were cooking in the kitchen. Although it was said that the two of them were cooking, Gu Moli was actually cooking by himself, while Su Xingran was sitting next to him.
Hearing a noise in the living room, Su Xingran came out of the kitchen. Seeing that it was Gu Junru and Liang Yun, Su Xingran greeted them. "Dad, Mom, you're back. Have you eaten yet? Mo Li is cooking in the kitchen."
Liang Yun smiled and said, "Xingran, are you settling in well at home? Your father and I had dinner before coming back. We bought some things for our relatives. When you and Moli go to the train station to see them off this afternoon, please take the things with you."
Su Xingran replied, "Thank you for going to buy the things, Dad and Mom. We'll take them with us when we see them off this afternoon. I'm quite used to being at home."
Gu Moli came out of the kitchen carrying dishes. He had heard his parents return from the kitchen. "Mom and Dad, you're back. I've cooked some rice. Would you like some more? Ranran, wash your hands and eat lunch."
Gu Junru and Liang Yun waved their hands and said, "No need, we're full. You and Xingran can eat."
Gu Moli and Su Xingran went to the dining room for dinner. In the living room, Liang Yun whispered to Gu Junru, "Look, Moli and Xingran get along quite well. Xingran usually seems a bit aloof, but she's quite natural with Moli."
Gu Junru glanced at the dining room. He knew that Mo Li loved Xingran very much, and Xingran also had feelings for Mo Li. Gu Junru could see that Su Xingran's feelings for Mo Li, besides her parents and master, were genuine; towards others, she only showed politeness and respect, without any real affection.
In the afternoon, Su Xingran and Gu Moli, carrying the gifts that Gu Junru and Liang Yun had bought, went to deliver them to Su Xingran's relatives. Su Xingran also gave each of the four elders a red envelope. Coincidentally, Deng Jianjun's family was also taking the same train back home.
Gu Junru and Liang Yun also prepared things for the Deng family. Deng Chenhui looked at Su Xingran, still feeling a pang of pain in his heart. Some people are never meant to be yours, and you'll never have a chance in your entire life.
Last night, while chatting at the Huang family home, Deng Chenhui learned that Gu Moli had been waiting for Su Xingran for seven or eight years. Gu Moli might not be the only one waiting; Su Xingran had rejected all introductions to potential partners and all suitors over the years, giving no one a chance whatsoever.
As a man himself, Gu Moli keenly sensed the thoughts of the man before him. Gu Moli remembered that this was the man who had been watching him during the wedding procession.
After their relatives entered the train station, Gu Moli and Su Xingran left. That night, when they were going to bed, Gu Moli asked Su Xingran about Deng Chenhui.
Su Xingran only then realized why Gu Moli kept frowning after leaving the train station. Su Xingran said helplessly, "I'm not familiar with him. He wrote to me. I replied to the first one, but I ignored the rest."
Gu Moli felt relieved upon hearing this, knowing that his wife was ignoring him and giving him no chance. Gu Moli believed that, ultimately, it was because his wife was too outstanding, and he had to work hard to be a good husband and protect her.
