Chapter 32 Studying at Master's House (1/2)

After signing the family division agreement, three copies were made: one for Old Man Su and his family, one for Su's father, and one to be taken away and stored by the village chief. Su's father then said a few words to Old Man Su, Old Woman Su, eldest son Su, and sister-in-law Su.

Dear Parents, Elder Brother and Sister-in-law, although we've been separated for twelve years, today marks the official separation. From now on, please follow the family separation agreement.

When my parents turn sixty, I will send them a year's allowance every year at the beginning of the year. I will also provide for any medical expenses they may need.

From now on, unless it's absolutely necessary, please don't come over and bother Huilan and Ranran. Now that they've separated their households, they're two separate families, and they shouldn't interfere with each other. At this point, Su's father's attitude was very clear: he didn't want them to disturb his family's life for any reason.

Ignoring his parents' expressions, Su's father turned and left the old house with the uncles, elders, and the village chief who had come to act as witnesses.

Mr. Su saw all the elders off at their doorsteps, expressed his gratitude, and then he and Mrs. Su returned home.

Su Xingran waited at home for a long time, but her parents didn't return. She guessed that things must have gone wrong. She had originally wanted to go with them, but her parents disagreed, worried that the people at the old house would provoke her.

Actually, no, it won't happen anymore. After this experience, she has come to understand many things. The memories in her mind are all from the past, and there will be no things from those memories in the future.

Since she's able to come back, she shouldn't waste time going back. Dwelling on the past and refusing to let go will only drive her crazy. Time heals all wounds; it's the best medicine. Let time take its course.

Lost in thought, she didn't even notice that her parents, whom she was waiting for, had already entered the house. Back home, Mr. and Mrs. Su breathed a sigh of relief; things had gone more smoothly than they had imagined, thanks in large part to the old village chief and his family.

"Ranran, aren't you asleep yet?" Su Xingran was startled; she hadn't even noticed how her parents had entered the house. "No, I'm still awake, waiting for you to come back."

How are things going for my parents? Have they signed the family division agreement? Su Xingran was eager to know the results.

Father Su didn't keep them in suspense. He signed it, and I brought the document back with me. I kept one copy for them, and the village chief took one to the brigade.

Hearing this, Su Xingran smiled happily. Her parents felt comforted looking at their daughter; this was more like a child.

The next day, news spread throughout the village that Su's father and the old house had signed a family division agreement. Everyone said the people in the old house deserved it; look what they'd driven them to.

At this moment, Su Xingran was learning from her master. Doctor Huang couldn't quite gauge how much medical knowledge Su Xingran possessed. Did she simply understand pharmacology, or was she already capable of making house calls and providing medical consultations?

He couldn't ask directly, so he could only probe subtly. "Xingran, today your master will teach you about acupoints on the human body. Traditional Chinese medicine often needs knowledge of acupoints to treat and save lives."

Doctor Huang took out an acupoint array diagram and gave it to Su Xingran. "Xingran, take a look at this. Tell me when you feel you can try needling the acupoints."

The doctor has to go out to see a patient, so you'll be seeing patients here by yourself. There are some pastries on the table if you're hungry; if I don't make it back in time for lunch, you can go home and eat.

"Okay, Master, you can go ahead and do your work. I can manage on my own." After Doctor Huang left, Su Xingran sat alone in a chair, looking at the acupoint array diagram.

Actually, she knew how, but it had been a long time, so her technique might have become a bit rusty. This was good so that she wouldn't expose herself when she practiced acupuncture in front of her master. She hadn't memorized the acupoint locations very well, but now that she had looked at them a few times, she had memorized them.

By noon, Dr. Huang had returned. He knew how to ride a bicycle, so he had bought one for his house calls. He packed some food for Su Xingran, saying he had already eaten and this was for her.
