Chapter 43 Su Xingran calls the scumbag's family grandparents and uncle (1/2)

After the matchmaker finished speaking, murmurs arose around them, and the villagers pointed and whispered about the Zhang couple. They said, "You can't judge a book by its cover. They seem so honest and kind, yet they resort to such underhanded methods to ruin a young woman's reputation."

Uncle Zhang, Aunt Zhang, do you still dare to say it wasn't you who said it? Our Su family doesn't usually make enemies in the village. I really don't know how you could be so cruel as to harm my daughter like this. Your son is a human being, but mine isn't? With parents like you, how can your son possibly be any better?

Su's mother couldn't hold back any longer. This family was incredibly shameless; they resorted to spreading rumors to coerce her after their marriage proposal failed. She couldn't bear to think what if she and Guomin hadn't listened to Ranran and gone to find the source of the rumors, making a big fuss about it? Perhaps Ranran's future path to finding a good marriage would have been ruined because of this family.

When the Zhang couple heard Su's mother speak ill of their son, their faces darkened. They were about to curse Su's mother when they were interrupted.

Grandpa Zhang, Grandma Zhang, I am Su Xingran, the daughter of Su Guomin. I am also the one who came to your door to propose marriage to Uncle Zhang Weibing.

Su Xingran's address of "Grandpa Zhang," "Grandma Zhang," and "Uncle Zhang Weibing" stunned the Zhang couple. The woman they had arranged a marriage for their son called them "Grandpa" and "Grandma," and their son "Uncle." So this young girl was being addressed as their granddaughter, and their son as their niece?

Not only were the Zhang couple stunned, but everyone present, including Mr. and Mrs. Su, was also stunned. These people, who would normally call their parents-in-law "grandparents," their husbands "uncle," and their wives "niece," were now calling each other "grandparents."

This generational hierarchy is so ridiculous. Although they are not related by blood and do not share the same surname, the moment Su Xingran calls them grandpa, grandma, and uncle, everyone present feels it's too jarring. Moreover, she is only a thirteen-year-old child, making it even more of a headache.

Su Xingran didn't care what people would think of her shouting it out. She believed it was her freedom to do as she pleased, and she wasn't bothering anyone else. As long as it annoyed the Zhang family, that was enough.

As a child who isn't quite grown up yet, I shouldn't be speaking. But I can't let my parents worry and waste their energy because of me; that would be very unfilial of me. So I have to speak up. Please forgive me if I offend anyone. Su Xingran lowered her stance considerably when she spoke up.

My parents said they had no connection with the Zhang family, and when they met, they wouldn't speak to each other and would always leave in a hurry. I also had no connection with Uncle Zhang Weibing, and I don't even remember him.

So, Grandpa Zhang and Grandma Zhang, why did you suddenly come to my house to propose marriage? Uncle Zhang Weibing is seventeen years old this year, in his final year of high school, while I'm only thirteen and in junior high. No matter what, this marriage couldn't possibly be happening to me.

So my parents and I were very curious as to why your family didn't choose a girl of the right age, but instead chose me, a girl who might not be able to get married for many years.

The Zhang couple snapped out of their daze at Su Xingran's question, which had been punctuated by the words "Grandpa Zhang," "Grandma Zhang," and "Uncle Zhang Weibing." They hadn't expected this thirteen-year-old girl with blond hair to seize the opportunity and ask them a question in return.
