Chapter 55 Su Xingran Feigns Coma (2/2)

"When did you deliver it?" Aunt He asked cautiously. She couldn't tolerate the slightest mistake; if someone reported her, she would suffer a terrible fate. "I delivered it around 5 PM. When I arrived, the second son's family was cooking. I gave them the chicken soup and then went home."

"Don't worry, Aunt He, we're family after all. Besides, chicken soup is something we only eat a couple of times a year, so the second son's family certainly won't waste it," Old Mrs. Su said confidently. But she never imagined that her second son's family had long suspected them, and would never accept anything they sent. Moreover, they had Su Xingran, whom they considered a demon, a person who had died once and returned with her memories intact. How could she possibly trust anyone in the old house?

That's good. The time's about right. Go to their house and check the situation. Take a rope and tie up that wandering ghost. Then check on your son and his wife, and their level of unconsciousness. Aunt He made the arrangements, while Granny Su and Zhao Xiaohua...

Old Mrs. Su and Zhao Xiaohua arrived at Su Xingran's door. Old Mrs. Su pushed the door, and to her surprise, it opened. She had planned to find a ladder for Zhao Xiaohua to climb over and open the door for them from the inside. Who knew her second son's family had forgotten to open the door? It was truly a stroke of luck! Overjoyed, she hadn't even considered why the door was open, or how it just so happened that they had forgotten to close it that night.

The two walked across the courtyard and into the house, where the kerosene lamp was still lit. They saw that the bowls and dishes from their evening meal were still on the table, untouched. Old Mrs. Su saw the earthenware pot, opened the lid, and found it empty. A smile spread across her face; her eldest daughter-in-law and second son's family had finished all the chicken soup.

Zhao Xiaohua thought to herself, "How could they not finish it? They only eat chicken twice a year, and my mother-in-law prepared so much meat for my second son's family, including two big chicken legs. Even though it was spiked with medicine, my second son's family doesn't know that."

Mother, don't worry about that. Second Brother's family can eat. Let's go to that evil spirit's room first and see how she is. Yes, let's go see how that evil spirit is. Eldest Brother's wife, take the kerosene lamp up to her room, otherwise we won't be able to see.

The two men, one carrying a kerosene lamp and the other a rope, entered Su Xingran's room. Hearing the noise, Su Xingran pretended to be unconscious and lay down on the bed before they entered.

Zhao Xiaohua shone the kerosene lamp and saw Su Xingran lying across the bed, uncovered and with her shoes on. It was clear she had rushed back to the room, lay down, and then passed out. In such cold weather, how could she not even be covered by a blanket? And with her shoes still on?

"Eldest daughter-in-law, go check on this girl, see if she's fainted." Zhao Xiaohua stepped forward and nudged Su Xingran, but there was no response. She pinched Su Xingran's arm, but still no reaction. "Mother, she's fainted. I pinched her arm so hard and she didn't react."

Su Xingran was pinched by Zhao Xiaohua, and it hurt terribly, since her skin was still very delicate and thin. But she couldn't make a sound or move, otherwise the plan would be ruined. She could only endure it, thinking to herself that her skin would definitely be bruised and black tomorrow.

"Don't just stand there, quickly grab the rope and tie her up." Zhao Xiaohua took the rope from Granny Su's hand. "Mother, come and help me too, shine the light for me so I can tie her legs up first. Oh, right, Aunt He said she was going to tie her to the chair."

Zhao Xiaohua went outside and brought back a chair with a backrest. Almost every household had one of these chairs. The two of them worked together to put Su Xingran on the chair and then began to tie her body to the backrest.
