Chapter 89 Enemy Agents Discovered (1/2)

The man in black was about 1.7 meters tall, standing with his legs slightly turned outwards. He had a narrow face with a thick beard covering his cheeks, long, narrow eyes, a low nose bridge, and a wide nose. When he looked at the man in gray from two years ago, his gaze was serious yet fierce.

The man in gray was someone Su Xingran had seen before and was very familiar with; he was Zhang Weibing's father, Zhang Yizhu. Su Xingran had a strange feeling; the man in black looked very much like the Japanese man she had met while doing a mission in the small world.

As Su Xingran was lost in thought, a furious "Baka!" pulled her back to reality.

Upon hearing this, Su Xingran immediately became serious. If the man in black was indeed from Japan, then what was Zhang Yizhu's connection to the people of Japan?

Seeing Zhang Yizhu's bowed and scraped manner, like a subordinate addressing a superior, Su Xingran was certain that Zhang Yizhu was a spy.

Su Xingran wanted to hear what they were saying, but all she heard was the black-clad Japanese man speaking broken Chinese: "You, get back here and keep an eye on that old bastard doctor surnamed Huang."

Su Xingran, who was eavesdropping, was stunned. That bastard from Japan, when he said the last thing, was he referring to his master?

Although there are three surnames in Sujia Village: Su, Zhang, and Huang, the oldest person with the surname Huang is a doctor, and there is only one such doctor in the entire village.

The man from the Sakura Kingdom and Zhang Yizhu had already left. Su Xingran looked at the spot where the two men had just stood, her expression serious. Her master was being watched and was in danger.

Su Xingran lost interest in continuing to gather herbs. She was preoccupied with many things, her mind filled with questions. Finally, she decided to go find Duan Yuming first, and then discuss it with her master and the others when she returned.

Su Xingran encountered Duan Yuming on the way, who was carrying two pheasants and two rabbits. "Uncle Duan, I've gathered enough herbs, let's go back now!"

"Alright, let's go back. We have meat for today," Duan Yuming said, mentioning the pheasant and rabbit in his hand.

On the way down the mountain, Su Xingran was preoccupied and didn't talk much as usual. Duan Yuming sensed that Su Xingran wasn't as happy as she was on the way up the mountain.

Back at Doctor Huang's house, Su Xingran put down the basket she was carrying with herbs. "Uncle Duan, I have something to tell you about Master."

Duan Yuming was puzzled. What happened to Xingran? Did Uncle Huang have something to do with him?

Uncle Duan, when I was on the mountain, I heard some noises. I thought it was wild boars or something. Worried about being attacked, I found a place to hide.

Later I heard a voice; it was a man dressed in black. Although he spoke Mandarin, he spoke it very haltingly, unlike how we speak it.

Later I realized it was two men. The man in black who had spoken earlier said "Baka!" That's the same thing the Japanese invaders in the anti-Japanese war movies that were shown in our village said.

I also heard the man in black talking to the other man. The man in black told him to go back and see the old doctor surnamed Huang. Also, the man in black had a very fierce look in his eyes.

Uncle Duan, the other man is from our village. His surname is Zhang and his name is Zhang Yizhu. His family came to my house to propose marriage during the Spring Festival.
