Chapter 9 Confession Space (1/2)

Su Xingran went home to her parents, determined to break off her engagement with Zhang Weibing and give the marriage to her cousin. Initially, her parents disagreed, feeling that breaking off an engagement sounded unpleasant, but they couldn't sway Su Xingran's firm resolve and had no choice but to agree. Su Xingran wasn't entirely clear on the details of the broken engagement and replacement, only knowing that her parents went to the Zhang family to apologize and brought twenty eggs and a pound of brown sugar as compensation.

Recalling this, Su Xingran sighed, realizing how incredibly foolish she had been, utterly lacking in common sense.

It's summer now, and she's on summer vacation. School will start again in half a month. The school is in the commune, not far from her home. Among the girls in the village who are in junior high or high school, only she, Su Wenli, and the village head's daughter are in school, along with the brigade leader's two daughters, making a total of five girls. The village head's family doesn't discriminate against girls; all three sons and one daughter are sent to school. The brigade leader is a retired soldier who has received an education and knows that education is a good path for both boys and girls, so his daughter is also in school.

Su Xingran and the village chief's daughter went to junior high school, while the other three went to high school. She always walked to the commune with the village chief's daughter when she went to school.

She thought about her current life; she was still young and couldn't do anything to earn money. But she wanted to make things easier for her family and give her parents a better life. Right now, the only thing she could do was go up the mountain to collect herbs. One of her quests involved being a healer, which often required her to go up the mountain to collect herbs and treat people. In the village, only Grandpa Huang was a doctor and knew about herbs; the others didn't have a deep understanding of them, only recognizing some simple ones that could be found everywhere in the fields or village.

She thought she could talk to Grandpa Huang and ask him to process the herbs she collected. She remembered that in her past life, the year she took the college entrance exam, several military vehicles came to the village, looking for Grandpa Huang to take her to the military compound to rescue someone. She didn't know what happened after that; she was already dead by then.

Grandpa Huang came to Sujia Village five years ago. He was brought there by car, but later, for reasons unknown, he became a doctor in the village. Occasionally, Grandpa Huang would go up the mountain to collect medicinal herbs. Su Xingran had seen him a few times while she was on the mountain looking for wild vegetables or picking mushrooms. She had given Grandpa Huang water and cornbread on the mountain and helped him collect herbs.

Su Xingran went back to her room and checked the time. There was still about an hour before her parents would finish work and have lunch. She went into the kitchen to see what she could make for lunch.

There were five eggs, a small bag of white rice, some sweet potatoes, and corn in the kitchen. If her mother were cooking lunch, she would definitely make corn rice for her father. Since she had already told her about her rebirth yesterday, she wasn't worried that her parents wouldn't accept it.

She tried it last night, just like before, silently reciting the name of the item she needed, and it appeared in her hand. Space can freeze time; when she put things into it, they are frozen at that moment. So when she put meat in, taking it out later was the same as when she first put it in. She silently recited "noodles" and "chicken," and it appeared in her hand.

The chicken was already chopped up, so the noodles just needed to be cooked directly in the pot. She washed the chicken, boiled water, added the chicken, and then cooked the noodles in the broth. She added a health-boosting pill to the chicken noodle soup. After everything was ready, she sat inside reading, waiting for her parents to return.

After a while, she heard the sound of the courtyard door opening, and her parents came in. Just as her mother was about to make lunch, Su Xingran stopped her. "Father, Mother, I've made lunch. Just serve it to us."

"Ranran, you're not even better yet, why are you already cooking?" Su's mother was a little worried about her. "It's alright, Mother, I'm much better now. You and Father, go wash your hands and have lunch."

A gasp came from the kitchen. Su's mother walked into the house, somewhat startled. "Ranran, there's chicken noodle soup in the pot. Where did you get the chicken and noodles?" Su's father, carrying the pot behind her, followed in, also looking at her questioningly.
