Chapter 124 Severing Ties Part 1 (1/2)

With Wang Laifu's arrest, many people who had ties with him lived in fear and unease. They made numerous inquiries, trying to find out why Wang Laifu had been arrested and whether he had implicated them.

However, Huang Tai'an strictly guarded the information, preventing any news about Wang Laifu from leaking out. This left those who wanted to bail out Wang Laifu and those who wanted to find out details with no way to do so.

Those who knew they were "tainted" were either plotting to find scapegoats or inventorying their assets in preparation for escape. Little did they know that on the day Huang Tai'an obtained the list of evidence, those people on the list were already under close surveillance.

Everything was in place, and the personnel were ready to apprehend the individuals on the list. Those arrested were still planning; their scheme was abruptly halted before it could even be carried out.

This anti-corruption campaign has unleashed a storm, serving as a warning to those with ulterior motives or those deeply entrenched in corruption. It serves as a reminder that lawbreakers will eventually be brought to justice.

Everyone in the Su family except for Old Mrs. Su and Su Wenxing was released. After the police investigated and understood the facts, Wang Haibo first approached Su Wenxing. Su Wenxing went home and persuaded Old Mrs. Su, who then agreed to carry out the crime.

When Su Wenxing learned that everyone in his family except him and his grandmother had been released, he felt both angry and terrified. He demanded to see Wang Haibo and Su Xingran.

Su Wenxing still hoped Wang Haibo would come to his rescue; he had been imprisoned because Wang Haibo was going to marry Su Xingran. He wanted to see Su Xingran to get her to drop her report. He had been detained before, and knowing that Su Xingran had dropped the case would allow him to go home.

When Su Xingran learned that Su Wenxing wanted to see her, her only thought was that Su Wenxing wanted to see her so that she would withdraw her report. Otherwise, what else could he want to see her for?

Su Xingran didn't plan to see Su Wenxing immediately. Instead, she wrote three agreements severing ties. She then took these agreements with her father to the old house.

Those released from the old house were still filled with fear. The thought of Su Wenxing and his wife still being detained filled them with anxiety and dread. When Old Man Su learned that his wife and eldest grandson were being held in the police station, he nearly choked on his own breath.

Old Su was heartbroken. With his wife around, he could at least eat his fill and was much cleaner. Now that she was arrested, no one in the family was willing to take care of him.

During the three days that the Su family was detained, it was the son of Su's second brother who brought porridge and water from home to feed Su. After Su's eldest brother and the others were released, they took care of Su for a few days and then stopped.

The older brothers can't even take care of themselves, so who would take care of the paralyzed old man Su? All they do is bring him a bowl of porridge a day, a bowl so thin you can count the grains of rice.

When Su's father and Su Xingran arrived at the old Su family home, they saw that the gate was open and went straight inside.

When Su Lao Da saw that the visitors were Su Lao Er and his daughter, he was filled with rage. It was because of these people that his family was in such a state. And two other people were locked up in the police station and couldn't get out.

"What are you doing here? Haven't you hurt us enough already?" Old Master Su glared angrily at Su Xingran and her father.

"You're the ones who have harmed us so much! You've harmed us time and time again, and you still have the nerve to say these things," Su's father retorted sarcastically.

“We’re not going to waste our breath on you. If you want those two locked up to come back, then sign this agreement.” Father Su took out the agreement that Su Xingran had prepared.

"What agreement? What are you trying to scam us out of now?" Old Master Su was tempted when he heard that signing an agreement would allow his mother and son to return. However, unsure of what kind of agreement it was, he remained wary.

Looking at Boss Su's "Don't even think about scamming me" expression, Su Xingran felt speechless. Only profit-driven people would go to such lengths to cheat others.
