After being led into the bridal chamber, another round of commotion ensued.
After everyone left, the house became completely quiet, and Qin Feiyang had sobered up.
The wedding banquet was held at noon, and it was only mid-afternoon, not yet time for the wedding night.
Qin Feiyang sat wearily by the bed for a while, but his spirits lifted when he heard Cao Jing coming over.
Cao Jing was wearing a red suit today, with her hair all tied up, revealing her smooth forehead. Whether it was because she had been drinking or because she had already applied rouge, her face was flushed.
Qin Feiyang felt a surge of excitement as he watched.
“Someone from upstairs just came down to greet me. She was a woman in her forties. She called me ‘Qin’s wife’ right off the bat. It sounded really vulgar.”
Qin Feiyang explained, "You're probably referring to the wife of the battalion commander of the first battalion. She's a very warm-hearted person. As for the way she's addressed... that's just a common way she addresses people in her hometown dialect, it doesn't mean anything else."
Cao Jing pursed her lips and said, "She looks like she's from the countryside and doesn't seem to have much education."
For some reason, the enthusiasm that had just risen in Qin Feiyang's heart suddenly cooled down as if doused with a bucket of cold water.
He looked Cao Jing up and down, and felt that Cao Jing was not quite the same as before.
Since he took Qin Hanshu to have dinner with Cao Jing last time, the two have been busy with their own things and haven't had much time alone together. Even if they have, they've only met briefly for a few minutes, so he hasn't thought too much about it.
Could it be that Cao Jing's unusual behavior last time wasn't entirely because she disliked her younger sister?
"Jingjing," Qin Feiyang asked gently, "Have you been under too much pressure lately? Are you in a bad mood?"
Marrying him meant moving away from her family home where she had lived for over twenty years and facing a completely new living environment. Qin Feiyang feared that Cao Jing's anxiety stemmed from this, leading to her personality change.
Cao Jing shook her head and said, "No, I'm not in a bad mood."
As she spoke, Cao Jing smiled and came over, putting her arm around Qin Feiyang. "I'm very happy to marry you, and I don't feel any pressure at all."
The moment Cao Jing hugged him, Qin Feiyang suddenly felt extremely awkward for some reason.
It was like...like being hugged by a stranger!
They've been together for so long, hugging is a common occurrence, so why this kind of mentality?
Afraid of hurting Cao Jing's feelings, Qin Feiyang pushed her away calmly after a while, saying, "I have to go see Xiao Shu. I haven't even had a chance to say two words to her today."
Cao Jing was instantly displeased. Today was their wedding day, and Qin Feiyang was actually thinking about his own sister.
Even if it's still daylight, so what? Nobody says the wedding night has to be after dark.
But Qin Feiyang completely ignored her feelings and actually went out to find Qin Hanshu.
Cao Jing took a deep breath, trying to control herself.
After a while, Cao Jing took a bag of snacks and went out. She went downstairs and knocked on the instructor's door.
When Fan Hongxia saw that it was Cao Jing, she quickly smiled and said, "Little Cao, is there something you need?"
"Sister-in-law, I'm just here to pay a visit." Cao Jing smiled and handed out the snacks.
Fan Hongxia hurriedly declined, saying, "This is absolutely impossible..."
"It's not worth much money. We're just neighbors, it's just a token of our friendship."
Fan Hongxia thought for a moment, accepted the snacks, invited Cao Jing into the house to sit down, and washed a plate of grapes for her to eat.
Cao Jing looked around Fan Hongxia's home. It was clean and tidy, and decorated with many things. She knew that Fan Hongxia was a person with a taste for life, and that such a person must have a good family background.
Thinking that the instructor was Qin Feiyang's superior, Cao Jing became even more enthusiastic towards Fan Hongxia, and the two quickly became acquainted.
As they talked, Cao Jing mentioned Zhou Weiguang, "Battalion Commander Zhou has excellent qualifications. For a rural soldier to reach this level at such a young age shows that he is very capable."
Cao Jing's condescending tone made Fan Hongxia slightly uncomfortable, but she just assumed it was due to Cao Jing's youthful impetuosity and didn't take it too seriously.
"He is quite capable."
Cao Jing said, "Sister-in-law, I'd like to introduce a girl to Battalion Commander Zhou. She's a colleague of mine from the song and dance troupe. Why don't you go and talk to her about it?"
Fan Hongxia found it strange, "Your Feiyang has a good relationship with Battalion Commander Zhou, wouldn't it be more convenient to let Feiyang speak?"
Cao Jing thought to herself, "This won't do. What she needs is Fan Hongxia's identity."
Who knows how far Zhou Weiguang and Qin Hanshu have gone? By dragging Qin Feiyang into this, if her plan succeeds in the future, wouldn't it just create a point of conflict between her and Qin Feiyang for no reason?
“How can a man say such things?” Cao Jing waved her hand and said, “Sister-in-law, you’re the professional, it’s more reliable for you to handle it.”
Fan Hongxia has indeed brought together quite a few couples, and they are all doing very well. Cao Jing's flattery really hit the nail on the head.
“Okay, I’ll talk to him!” Fan Hongxia hesitated for a moment, “But Battalion Commander Zhou…” He has someone in his heart, even though that person doesn’t like him.
"What happened to Battalion Commander Zhou?"
Fan Hongxia came to her senses and said, "I'm afraid Battalion Commander Zhou won't agree. I've told him before, but he always refuses to even meet with me."
Cao Jing thought for a moment and said, "Sister-in-law, how about this? We'll set the meeting place at your house. You can invite Battalion Commander Zhou over, and I'll call my colleagues over to create an unexpected meeting for them."
Fan Hongxia: "You mean, let's not say it's a blind date yet, and let them meet first before deciding?"
Cao Jing nodded: "My colleague is the most beautiful girl in the regiment. I guarantee that Battalion Commander Zhou will never forget her after just one meeting."
Fan Hongxia nodded; she had already planned to inquire with the performing arts troupe.
