Qin Feiyang came over, but he had something important to discuss.
He completely ignored Zhou Weiguang, pulled Qin Hanshu aside, and whispered, "Go check on your sister-in-law, she seems a bit off."
Qin Hanshu turned around, greeted Zhou Weiguang, and then followed Qin Feiyang away.
Before Zhou Weiguang could ask a single question, the door slammed shut.
“She usually wakes up very early, but I don’t know what’s wrong with her today, she’s been sleeping the whole time…” Qin Feiyang said hesitantly, “I’m not sure if she’s sleeping, because I can’t wake her up no matter what I do.”
Qin Hanshu followed Qin Feiyang into his bedroom and saw Cao Jing lying on the bed, fast asleep.
As Qin Hanshu approached, she suddenly sensed an unusual movement in the space, different from the alarm she would receive when encountering danger. She didn't know what it meant.
I've never had this reaction when I was near Cao Jing before.
Qin Hanshu looked Cao Jing up and down and noticed that there was a red string around her neck. The other end of the red string was hidden inside her collar, and she didn't know what it was.
Qin Feiyang walked over and nudged Cao Jing, "Jingjing, are you feeling unwell?"
Cao Jing stirred and mumbled, "Sleepy...don't make a sound..."
Qin Feiyang spread his hands and said to Qin Hanshu, "See, that's it. He doesn't have a fever or anything else, but we just can't wake him up."
Qin Hanshu said, "Didn't my sister-in-law say she's sleepy?"
Qin Feiyang said, "She started sleeping at nine o'clock last night, and she's been sleeping for more than ten hours now and she's still sleepy. That's not normal."
Qin Hanshu's heart stirred, and she asked, "Has your sister-in-law been like this lately?"
Qin Feiyang frowned and shook his head. "It didn't happen all of a sudden, but I've been going to bed earlier and earlier these past few days. I can't wake up in the morning, and today is the first time."
Qin Feiyang looked at Qin Hanshu, hesitated for a moment, and then said, "I called you here to ask you, your sister-in-law happens to be on her period these days. Is it possible for a woman to have such problems during her period?"
Qin Hanshu shook her head. "Never heard of it."
Qin Feiyang frowned, "What exactly happened? Could it be some kind of rare or difficult-to-diagnose disease? Should I take her to the hospital to get her checked out?"
Qin Hanshu stared at the red string around Cao Jing's neck and said slowly, "She should be fine. Maybe she's been too busy and tired lately."
Qin Feiyang thought for a moment and said, "Maybe so. She's been coming back later than usual lately."
The dance troupe was located in the city, a journey of about an hour each way. Before the wedding, Cao Jing had planned to stay at her parents' home and only return to her and Qin Feiyang's small home on weekends.
After getting married, Cao Jing never mentioned living at her parents' home. She spent a lot of time on the road every day, so she would come home late at night.
For some reason, these past few days it's been about an hour later than usual.
Qin Hanshu pulled Qin Feiyang outside and asked, "Brother, do you think your wife is any different after marriage compared to before?"
Qin Feiyang hesitated, as if he wanted to say something but then stopped.
Qin Hanshu said, "Don't overthink it. I just feel that after spending time with my sister-in-law, she is somewhat different from the person you described in your letter."
"You noticed it too?" Qin Feiyang asked in surprise, then paused for a moment before sighing, "I don't know why, but she's changed a lot..."
As Qin Hanshu listened to Qin Feiyang's slow explanation, she confirmed her suspicions.
It seems that the feathers of the Chongming bird did have an effect on that wandering ghost.
But that's not enough.
Qin Hanshu was somewhat conflicted. Did she really have to bring out the spirit beasts from her spatial storage to drive away the fake Cao Jing?
There was a noise coming from inside the house.
Cao Jing finally woke up.
Qin Feiyang hurried over.
Qin Hanshu did not follow them and silently returned home.
Cao Jing opened her eyes and saw Qin Feiyang, asking, "Why are you home? Didn't you go to work?"
Qin Feiyang said, "I wanted to come back and tell you something, but you've been sleeping the whole time, and I can't wake you up no matter how much I call you."
Cao Jing's eyes flickered, and she reached out to touch the jade pendant hanging on her chest.
It was a piece of green jade with carvings on both sides. One side had a bull's head and a human body, while the other side had a horse's head and a human body, which looked like a terrifying ghost.
Grandma Huo said that Ox-Head and Horse-Face are soul-reaping messengers, and the original soul that remained in her body would soon be taken away.
She spent five hundred yuan to get this jade pendant from Old Mrs. Huo.
I was just trying it out, but I didn't expect it to work so quickly.
When she first fell asleep, she was clearly not as relaxed as she usually was, and did not have complete control over her body.
She and the original owner coexisted in the same body.
Although the original owner has not been completely driven away, Old Madam Huo also said that it will take time.
Cao Jing is full of hope for the future.
She looked at Qin Feiyang with unwavering determination.
Once she truly becomes the owner of this body, she should start planning her future with Qin Feiyang.
Qin Hanshu married Zhou Weiguang and moved into the apartment across from hers, a fact she could no longer change.
Then why not let Qin Feiyang change careers?
In any case, Qin Feiyang will be pursuing a business career in the future. Moving to a local area will allow him to accumulate more connections that will be beneficial for the future.
"...Jingjing?" Qin Feiyang waved his hand in front of Cao Jing's face. "Did you hear what I said?"
Cao Jing looked bewildered. "Huh?"
Qin Feiyang had no choice but to repeat, "I came back to discuss something with you. Tonight, let's prepare a nice meal and invite my sister and brother-in-law's family over for dinner."
Cao Jing was unhappy, "How could I have time to prepare?"
Qin Feiyang remained silent.
It's not that you can't have a meal at the cafeteria, but the food you prepare yourself is obviously more thoughtful than what the cafeteria prepares.
