Anonymous whistleblowing is not an option for dealing with Wang Tianfu.
The main issue is that Cao Jing is involved, and there's a fear that Wang Tianfu might expose Cao Jing, so it's best not to use public resources.
Qin Hanshu was originally troubled by this, but meeting Huo Zhenduo today gave her a new idea.
The next day, Qin Hanshu kept an eye on the apartment across the hall.
After seeing Cao Jing leave, she followed her.
Cao Jing carried two wooden boxes as she went to see Wang Tianfu.
The box must contain the goods to be transported. The box wasn't big, and I don't know what was inside, but it's probably quite valuable.
Qin Hanshu knew a lot about Huo Zhenduo, but not all of it. She knew he dealt in a lot of things, including watches smuggled from Hong Kong, but she didn't know the specifics of the process.
However, knowing some things isn't necessarily a good thing.
After handing the items to Wang Tianfu, Cao Jing left without saying a word. Wang Tianfu stared at Cao Jing's retreating figure for a while before turning around.
Wang Tianfu weighed the box in his hand. Although the box was locked, Wang Tianfu knew that it contained circuit boards.
How could someone who's helping to deliver goods not know what the goods are?
Wang Tianfu clicked his tongue inwardly. These two boxes of circuit boards must be worth over a thousand yuan.
I don't know how Cao Jing suddenly became so bold as to start buying and selling things.
However, these two suitcases, though unremarkable, are easy to carry.
Many train staff would take advantage of their positions to smuggle personal goods into the freight cars. Since everyone did this, it was essentially a way of covering for each other.
However, most of these privately purchased goods are local specialties from other places, mostly food and household items. Some are resold for profit, but the quantity is not large.
It's not difficult at all if you're bold enough.
Only Cao Jing's sister and brother-in-law, stubborn as they are, cling to their principles and unwilling to compromise. But it's all for the best; it forced Cao Jing to come to him, creating an opportunity for him.
Wang Tianfu felt smug and began to daydream.
His plan was to help Cao Jing first, to get closer to her, and then see how things went further...
Wang Tianfu is going on a business trip tomorrow. He took his suitcase home and planned to just throw it into the freight car of the train tomorrow.
He silently recited the time and place Cao Jing had told him to meet with someone after arriving in the capital, and his steps became lighter.
Unexpectedly, when he walked to a deserted path, a cat suddenly darted out from the roadside.
The cat was very fat; it looked like someone's pet that had run away.
Wang Tianfu was startled at first, but he didn't pay much attention and tried to walk around the cat blocking the way.
The cat, however, stared at the box in his hand without moving, as if it were a robber.
Wang Tianfu laughed angrily and cursed, "You little brat, trying to steal my box?"
It's unlikely they'd try to steal the box; although the box isn't large, it's still much bigger than a cat.
The cat slowly strolled up, approached the box, and sniffed.
Wang Tianfu found the cat rather strange and quickly walked away.
After walking for a while, he looked back and the cat was gone.
Wang Tianfu looked around in confusion but couldn't find the cat.
They disappeared so quickly?
Wang Tianfu felt uneasy and did not linger.
***
A train speeds along the railway from Wuhan to the capital.
The truck was bustling with activity, and no one noticed that a cat had jumped onto the last cargo compartment.
The cargo box is attached from the outside, so there's no need to worry about anyone opening it while driving at high speed.
However, things don't always go as planned.
The fat cat stretched out its paw and easily pushed open the latch of the carriage, then nimbly and lightly leaped inside.
The fat cat sniffed and searched, and soon found what it wanted in a corner: the two boxes that Cao Jing had asked Wang Tianfu to bring.
The fat cat used its mouth to bite the handle of the box and pulled it out, throwing both boxes off the train.
After finishing, Fat Cat leaned out onto the roof of the car, closed the door as before, and locked it.
Apart from the two missing boxes, everything seemed to have been as if nothing had happened.
Fat Cat leaped off the top of the train and ran towards the family compound of a garrison in Jiangcheng.
Qin Hanshu breathed a sigh of relief when she saw the tiger return.
She patted the tiger's head and asked, "Is everything taken care of?"
"Meow~" The tiger circled around and rubbed against her legs.
Qin Hanshu rewarded the tiger by tossing it into her spatial dimension, letting it play with the spirit beasts for a while. Only when she knew Zhou Weiguang would be home soon did she release the tiger.
She made the tiger throw away the box so that Wang Tianfu and Huo Zhenduo would face off.
The goods belonged to Huo Zhenduo, but Wang Tianfu lost them. Given Huo Zhenduo's personality, he certainly wouldn't let Wang Tianfu off the hook.
However, even with just that, Wang Tianfu would at most get a beating and pay some money; the retribution would be far from enough.
She needs to add fuel to the fire...
***
The train stopped in the capital.
Wang Tianfu stood pale-faced in the now-empty cargo compartment.
Where are the two boxes?
He found a colleague and asked, "Did you lose anything you were carrying?"
My colleague said, "You didn't lose it? Did you lose yours?"
Wang Tianfu nodded solemnly, "Do you think it could be that notorious thief from the newspaper who stole my things?"
In the past six months, there have been several news reports about thefts from train freight cars.
Stealing from a freight car while it's moving at high speed is an extremely difficult task, so the newspapers said that the master thief had practiced martial arts and gave him the nickname "Flying Thief."
