When Cao Jing came out of the song and dance troupe, she didn't see Ru Mei, which she found a little strange, but she didn't think too much about it.
After all, the society she lived in before transmigrating into the book was very safe. Who would have thought that a living person standing on the side of the road at around 7 p.m. would be in danger?
She called out but no one answered. Instead, a group of cyclists stopped beside her.
The tires screeched as the brakes were applied suddenly.
Cao Jing was stunned when she saw Huo Zhenduo, who was in the lead.
Wasn't this person sent back to the countryside where he was assigned to work? He's back so soon?
"The person you hired to transport the goods is named Wang Tianfu?"
Cao Jing nodded.
"The goods are lost?"
Cao Jing asked, "How did you know?"
Huo Zhenduo did not answer, but coldly said, "Where is Wang Tianfu? Take me to him."
Cao Jing didn't react.
Huo Zhenduo's henchman cursed, "Is that bitch deaf?!"
The group clearly had ill intentions, but fortunately, they didn't seem to be targeting her.
Cao Jing shrank back slightly and said, "Wang, Wang Tianfu came to see me today to talk about the lost goods. We agreed to wait here."
Cao Jing pointed to the small park.
Just then, a strange rustling sound came from the dark little park.
"Damn it! It must be that bastard!"
"Quick, catch him! Don't let him get away!"
A group of people abandoned their bicycles and rushed into the small park.
Cao Jing, remembering the missing Ru Mei, followed after her with trepidation.
Could it be Wang Tianfu...?
She asked Rumei to accompany her simply because she wanted someone to give her courage; she didn't want Rumei to encounter any accidents because of it.
Huo Zhenduo and the others waved their flashlights back and forth. Cao Jing looked through the bushes for a long time before she was sure that Ru Mei had really been pulled into the dark bushes by Wang Tianfu.
She took two steps back, her heart pounding.
Was Wang Tianfu's lustful impulse a spur-of-the-moment act, or was it premeditated?
If it was premeditated, then she should have been the one...
Cao Jing's face turned pale instantly.
After being transmigrated into the book for so long, she finally began to feel a sense of reality about this world.
Unlike when reading a book, she was no longer from God's perspective, but a real person living in this world.
She could no longer see into the hearts of everyone as clearly as she did when reading books.
It's best to avoid dealing with characters like Wang Tianfu who don't appear in the original work.
etc!
In the book, Cao Jing was hit by a car and died in order to escape being humiliated by hooligans.
That thug was just a random passerby; he didn't even have a name, only a code name: "Boss Wang."
Is it a coincidence that Mr. Wang and Wang Tianfu are related?
Cao Jing shivered.
Regardless of whether it was true or not, she made up her mind to be more low-key in the future and not to act rashly anymore.
Cao Jing was unaware that she had no future.
Just as she was lost in thought, a cat suddenly appeared from the side and pounced on her.
"Waaah—"
The cat let out an eerie and unsettling roar, jumped onto Cao Jing, and then vomited a drop of blood, which landed right on the pendant on Cao Jing's chest.
Cao Jing stared in horror, her eyes wide. This was the cat Qin Hanshu kept!
Cao Jing felt the jade pendant on her chest begin to heat up, and the heat quickly spread throughout her body, making her heart race with anxiety.
What happened?
Grandma Huo gave her a jade pendant with ox-head and horse-face carvings on both sides, saying it was a soul-reaping messenger that could completely force the original owner's soul out of the body.
Recently, she has also clearly felt that she is spending more and more time on her body.
But the pendant, soaked in cat blood, seemed to have changed its nature, and began to tug at her soul.
She tried to take the pendant off and throw it away, but she couldn't get it off no matter what she did.
Cao Jing felt dizzy in waves. Forcing herself to stay awake, she looked at Qin Feiyang and Qin Hanshu who had followed her and pleaded, "Help me, help me..."
Qin Hanshu said coldly, "Go back to where you came from."
Cao Jing kept shaking her head, "I can't go back. I'm already dead in another world. I don't have a body anymore."
Upon hearing this, Qin Feiyang was utterly horrified. It turned out that Jingjing's body had indeed been possessed by a wandering ghost.
He had previously chosen to believe based on intuition, but seeing this scene in person still gave him a feeling that his worldview had been reshaped.
"Feiyang..." Cao Jing reached out her hand to Qin Feiyang, her eyes brimming with tears, and said, "Save me, I'm your wife, you can't just watch me die..."
It would be a lie to say Qin Feiyang wasn't soft-hearted to see someone pleading with him like that, but he still had his rationality. His rationality told him that the person begging him was nothing more than a wandering ghost in Cao Jing's skin.
Qin Feiyang coldly watched as "Cao Jing" slowly and helplessly collapsed to the ground.
With a muffled thud, the pendant hanging around Cao Jing's neck shattered into pieces. Cao Jing let out a scream, then instantly closed her eyes and collapsed to the ground, limp as a puddle of mud.
Qin Feiyang rushed over and scooped the unconscious Cao Jing into his arms, calling out softly, "Jingjing?"
Cao Jing didn't react at all, as if she were asleep.
Qin Feiyang looked at Qin Hanshu and asked anxiously, "Should we take her to the hospital?"
Qin Hanshu looked at the tiger in her arms, and the tiger lazily meowed. Qin Hanshu understood.
"No need, take her home to rest. She should be fine when she wakes up."
In Qin Feiyang's eyes, tigers are now practically gods.
Relieved, he stood up, holding Cao Jing in his arms.
What happened to Cao Jing?
