Fan Hongxia and Liu Ercui both came to see Qin Hanshu, and each brought a basket of eggs.
After talking for a while, Fan Hongxia went back to supervise her child's homework.
As soon as she left, Liu Ercui relaxed a lot.
"Your mother-in-law came all the way from her hometown in the Northwest to take care of you during your postpartum period?" Liu Ercui clicked her tongue in admiration several times. "Your mother-in-law is really something."
Qin Hanshu smiled and said, "Didn't you say that your mother-in-law took care of you during your postpartum period after your first two pregnancies?"
Liu Ercui nodded, "Yes, my mother-in-law is alright, but her thinking is too feudal. She favors boys over girls. When she saw that my third child was a girl, she stopped coming to take care of me."
As she spoke, Liu Ercui pouted and teased her daughter in her arms, "Our Pei'er is so well-behaved and sensible, much cuter than that brat."
Qin Hanshu reached out, "Sister-in-law Ercui, let me hug Pei'er."
Liu Ercui placed the child in Qin Hanshu's arms, chattering about her daughter's funny stories.
"What is Pei'er's full name?" Qin Hanshu asked.
Liu Ercui replied, "Her name is Zhang Peier. Her older sister is called Lin Yue'er, so my husband named her Zhang Peier, saying that at least she should look like a sister."
Qin Hanshu: "Yue'er's surname is Lin? Did you change her surname when you adopted her?"
Liu Ercui nodded. "Zhang Lei said that he couldn't let Yue'er forget her biological parents, so he didn't change her surname."
Qin Hanshu had long had a strange feeling about the Zhang family adopting Yue'er, but she couldn't quite put her finger on it. However, it was ultimately someone else's family matter, and she shouldn't comment without evidence.
Qin Hanshu looked down at Pei'er in her arms. Pei'er was three months older than Zhou Chi. Her wrinkled skin had grown out, and she was chubby and very cute.
Moreover, Pei'er loves to laugh; she'll giggle and laugh at the slightest provocation.
"This little girl is really interesting."
"She's easy to take care of, and very worry-free!" Liu Ercui had endless things to say about her daughter. "She eats and sleeps well, and basically, she won't cry unless she's hungry or needs a diaper change."
"The only downside is that this girl is quite fierce. The other day, when Sister-in-law Hongxia wanted to hug her, she didn't like it. Her eyes were wide open, and she was grumbling and hawing, as if she was cursing someone."
Liu Ercui laughed as she spoke, "Everyone says she has a bad temper, just like me. I wonder if she'll have a husband in the future."
Qin Hanshu joked, "If no one else wants me, I will. I'll make her my Ah Chi's wife."
Liu Ercui laughed heartily, "If I marry into your family, I'll be getting a great deal! Hey, I'll remember that, so don't even think about going back on your word later."
At this point, Pei'er in Qin Hanshu's arms kept reaching out, as if she wanted to go to Zhou Chi.
She was making little babbling noises.
Liu Ercui patted her daughter's bottom and said, "Look at my daughter, she's so shameless, she's already going to that guy's place!"
Perhaps it was because Qin Hanshu had also become a mother, but she felt that she and Liu Ercui had more to talk about.
The two talked in the room for an entire afternoon without a single awkward silence.
When it was time for dinner, Zhao Chunmiao and Qin Hanshu both wanted Liu Ercui to stay for dinner, but she refused and ran away with Pei'er in her arms.
Zhao Chunmiao sighed, "Er Cui said that she took care of her postpartum period by herself after giving birth to Pei'er a few months ago. Tsk tsk, her in-laws didn't even offer to help."
As she spoke, Zhao Chunmiao began to feed Qin Hanshu with a spoon.
Qin Hanshu quickly sat up straight and took the bowl of rice. "Mom, I can do it myself."
Zhao Chunmiao handed her the bowl and then talked about Liu Ercui, "I feel like her husband doesn't treat her well either. Yesterday I saw her following him up the stairs, and I don't know what he was scolding her for, like he was scolding his grandson."
Although they didn't have much contact, Zhao Chunmiao quite liked Liu Ercui, feeling that although she was sometimes loud and boisterous, she was actually quite honest.
Qin Hanshu said, "She and Battalion Commander Zhang have always lived like this, bickering all the time. As for whether it's good or bad..."
"She said it herself, that Battalion Commander Zhang has been much gentler to her than before since the beginning of this year. Whenever he was at home during her postpartum period, he would take care of her food and drink."
"Isn't that what we should do? The child was born to the Zhang family..." Zhao Chunmiao pursed her lips and didn't continue the topic. Instead, she asked, "Shu, what did you say you were going to do with the water boiling on the stove? I didn't hear you clearly."
Qin Hanshu said, "I said I want to take a shower and wash my hair."
"That won't do!" Zhao Chunmiao quickly shook her head. "You can't be exposed to wind or water during your postpartum period! I know you like to be clean, I'll get a hot towel to wipe your body in a bit."
Qin Hanshu said, "We have a hairdryer at home, so we can dry our hair right after washing it. It's okay."
Zhao Chunmiao shook her head again, "I can do whatever you want with everything else, but not this. Listen to me, just bear with it!"
Zhao Chunmiao's attitude was firm, so Qin Hanshu said nothing more.
I was thinking of finding a chance to go into the space and wash up later.
My hair is so oily and clumpy, I have to wash it.
Unexpectedly, Zhou Weiguang discovered her while she was lying in his arms.
"You washed your hair? Mom told you not to wash it!"
Qin Hanshu's heart skipped a beat. She hoped Zhou Weiguang wouldn't tell Zhao Chunmiao, because she hadn't even left her room during the day and hadn't had a chance to wash her hair.
If Zhou Weiguang were to tell Zhao Chunmiao about this, he would definitely find it strange.
Although she wouldn't discover the existence of the space, she still had to put in effort to cover it up.
Qin Han said in a soft voice, "I washed it secretly, don't tell Mom."
Zhou Weiguang usually goes along with her, but this time he had a stern and impartial expression.
"No, I have to talk to Mom and tell her to keep a close eye on you. The experience passed down from the older generation isn't entirely without merit, so we should listen to it."
