Chapter 209 "Little Chi, did you miss me?"

The next day, Zhou Weiguang got up refreshed and left, leaving Qin Hanshu to recover her energy in bed.

She didn't go to school on the weekend, and Zhou Weiguang told Gu Yan not to bother her before leaving. She stayed in bed until eight o'clock.

Zhou Sheng is three years old and very mischievous. As soon as she opened the door, she saw the little brat dragging a large burlap sack in from outside. The tiny child looked like he was about to be swallowed by the burlap sack, walking unsteadily.

Upon seeing her, he shouted, "Mom, when I grow up, I'm going to pick up trash!"

Qin Hanshu: "...You said you wanted to be a pilot just a few days ago."

Zhou Sheng carefully opened the sack, revealing several used batteries, a few pieces of broken wire, and a tattered aluminum lunchbox inside.

"Aunt Fan said these can be sold for money!"

Qin Hanshu retorted, "A few broken iron wires, they can't even be weighed, they can't be sold for any money."

Zhou Sheng said, "I'll sell them when I've saved up enough! Mom, when I get rich, I'll buy you delicious food."

Qin Hanshu felt warmed by these words and smiled, "Okay, then Mom will be waiting."

At this moment, Zhou Chi came out of the house and said, "Study hard and learn more knowledge so that you can make a lot of money."

Zhou Chi is already in the third grade of elementary school, but he is short and thin, even shorter than Peipei, who is the same age. Compared with his classmates who are already older than him, he is even smaller.

Qin Hanshu didn't deprive him of nutrition and often smuggled out water from her space for household use, but Zhou Chi still didn't grow tall, which worried her.

Qin Hanshu said, "Zhou Chi, you shouldn't just focus on studying. You should also pay attention to exercising and developing some sports hobbies so you can grow taller."

Zhou Chi quipped, "What's the use of growing taller? As long as you have a big brain, that's enough."

Qin Hanshu: "...Growing taller makes you more attractive to girls."

Zhou Chi asked, puzzled, "Why do you need to please girls?"

Qin Hanshu: "...Fine, do whatever you want."

This child is too opinionated; she's never been able to control him since he was little.

"Mom, I've grown taller!" Zhou Chi exclaimed.

This child is only three years old and already knows how to say nice things and try to please adults.

Gu Yan came over and said, "Sister Shu, I'd like to ask for a day off in a while."

Qin Hanshu nodded: "Sure, I'll arrange the specific date in advance."

Gu Yan said, and then explained, "My younger brother got into a university in Jiangcheng, and I want to go see him."

Qin Hanshu exclaimed in surprise, "How come I've never heard you mention this before? Universities in Jiangcheng have been in session for a long time now; you should have gone much earlier!"

Gu Yan smiled sheepishly, "He only contacted me after he arrived at school, and the letter from home had just arrived not long ago."

Qin Hanshu asked, "Which school did he apply to?"

Gu Yan said, "It's a university specializing in finance and economics. Jiangcheng is far from our hometown, and he applied here specifically for me."

The University of Finance and Economics was formed by merging the former School of Accounting and the School of Finance and Economics. The campus was expanded on the site of the former School of Accounting. It's just over the back mountain.

In the past two years, Gu Yan has mentioned her younger brother the most, which shows that although her family favors boys over girls, she still has a good relationship with her brother.

“Okay, why don’t you go see him during the National Day holiday? I’ll give you two days off so you can take him sightseeing. You can also invite him over for meals whenever you’re free. It’s very convenient for him to come over.”

Gu Yan quickly shook her head: "One day is enough! He won't come to the house anymore. You pay me such a high salary, how can I let him come and freeload?"

Qin Hanshu tried to persuade her a few times but failed, so she let her go.

Qin Hanshu stayed at home for a morning, and after lunch, she took her two children to Liu Ercui's house.

Liu Ercui was also on her day off today, but when Qin Hanshu arrived home, she didn't see her. Only her eldest son, Minyong, and Peipei were home.

Qin Hanshu told Zhou Chi and Zhou Sheng to go play with Peipei, and then asked Zhang Minyong, "Where's your mother?"

Zhang Minyong, who was already a grown-up, lowered his head upon hearing this. "She went to Grandpa Li's house to do some work for someone."

Liu Ercui's salary as a saleswoman, plus the alimony Zhang Lei gave her, was enough to support her family of three.

But she thought long-term, considering that her two children needed to go to school, her son would need to get married in the future, and her daughter would need a dowry, so she felt she had to save more money.

So, in her spare time outside of work, she would do odd jobs.

For example, several elderly people living alone in this building are unable to move around on their own, so they save up their housework and wait for Liu Ercui to do it when she has time.

The income is meager, but it's still extra money beyond my salary.

"Aunt Qin," Zhang Minyong said in a low voice, "why don't you talk to my mom about not wanting to repeat a year of high school? I want to start working."

Zhang Minyong also took the college entrance exam this year, but failed and is now repeating a year.

Zhang Minyong's grades were always mediocre, and he felt sorry for his mother. Back in his first year of high school, he said he would drop out and go to work to ease the burden on his family.

But Liu Ercui wouldn't allow it; she insisted that he take the college entrance exam. If it didn't work out, she made him try again.

Qin Hanshu observed that Zhang Minyong was very hardworking, but he did lack talent in academics.

But she couldn't very well advise Liu Ercui that her son wasn't cut out for it and that she shouldn't make him repeat a year.

After thinking for a moment, Qin Hanshu said, "Since you've already started, give it your all and try again for another year. If it doesn't work, we can try again next year."

Zhang Minyong sighed, nodded, and went to study.

Qin Hanshu waited for more than half an hour before Liu Ercui returned.

"Hey, what brings you here?"

Qin Hanshu said, "I had nothing to do at home, so I brought the child over to see you. Zhou Chi also misses Peipei."

Several children were playing nearby. Peipei heard this, smiled, and asked Zhou Chi, "Little Chi, did you miss me?"
