After Qin Hanshu pestered him for a while, Qin Feiyang's mood improved, and he began to introduce his fiancée to her.
"Cao Jing is a dancer with the Jiangcheng Song and Dance Troupe. She is a ballet dancer. We met through a friend's introduction."
"She doesn't talk much, but she's kind-hearted, pure, and beautiful... You'll know when you meet her; she has a magical power to calm people's hearts."
Qin Hanshu had met Cao Jing before. In her previous life in the spatial dimension, her impression of her appearance could be summed up in one word: beautiful.
Qin Feiyang wasn't brought down by the Hu family all at once; it was a long process. Before the final outcome, he went from being a wealthy man to being penniless.
Throughout this process, Cao Jing remained steadfastly by Qin Feiyang's side.
Originally, Cao Jing had stopped dancing after giving birth and became a full-time housewife. After Qin Feiyang went bankrupt, he was initially quite depressed, so she secretly went out and found a sales job, supporting the whole family during this time.
It was during her time in sales that she met the nouveau riche who was after her.
Qin Hanshu knew all this because Hu Wenwen knew that nouveau riche. With a "let's have a good show" attitude, she pushed Cao Jing into the nouveau riche's arms.
Cao Jing fled from the scene of the humiliation, but was accidentally hit by a car and died.
Qin Hanshu didn't know all of Cao Jing, but the fact that she shared both glory and hardship with Qin Feiyang was enough to prove that Qin Feiyang's praise was correct; her character deserved to be called wonderful.
Qin Hanshu asked, "When can I see my sister-in-law?"
There's still a little over a week until our wedding date.
Qin Feiyang said, "How about tomorrow? I'll ask for a day off and take you to the dance troupe to watch your sister-in-law rehearse, and then we'll have a meal together."
Qin Hanshu nodded, "Okay."
As they were talking, seeing that it was getting dark, Qin Feiyang stood up and said, "Come on, I'll take you to eat."
It was past lunchtime, and there wasn't a single person eating in the cafeteria.
As soon as Qin Feiyang led Qin Hanshu inside, they saw Wang Xiaogang walking towards them.
"Deputy Battalion Commander Qin, you've finally arrived."
Qin Feiyang asked in surprise, "You were waiting for me all this time?"
Wang Xiaogang nodded and said, "Yes. The battalion commander was afraid you'd get so caught up in talking that you'd forget the time, so he sent me to tell the cooks not to turn off the fire yet."
Qin Feiyang was even more surprised, "Comrade Battalion Commander... are you so concerned about me?"
Wang Xiaogang looked at Qin Feiyang with envy, "I've never seen a battalion commander be so considerate to anyone before."
As he spoke, he gave Qin Feiyang a thumbs up, "Deputy Battalion Commander Qin, you're really amazing."
Qin Feiyang was still dazed, but his empty stomach prevented him from thinking about it in detail.
"I'll go to the small kitchen and order a few dishes."
Qin Feiyang went to the kitchen, and Qin Hanshu asked Wang Xiaogang, "Has your battalion commander eaten? If not, let him come over and have some with us."
Wang Xiaogang said, "It's already eight o'clock, we've already eaten."
Qin Hanshu nodded and said nothing more.
Wang Xiaogang then took his leave.
As I walked out of the cafeteria, halfway down the street, I happened to see Zhou Weiguang's back.
Wang Xiaogang caught up, saluted, and reported, "Deputy Battalion Commander Qin and Comrade Xiao Qin have already gone to the canteen."
"Okay, I understand." Zhou Weiguang nodded.
Wang Xiaogang paused for a moment, then said, "Comrade Qin asked if you've eaten yet. If not, let's go get something to eat together."
Zhou Weiguang's expression remained unchanged as he shook his head and said, "I've already eaten, so I won't go."
After saying a few more words, Zhou Weiguang let Wang Xiaogang leave.
After standing there with his hands behind his back for a while, Zhou Weiguang turned around and strode away, looking rather anxious.
Wang Xiaogang, who was turning his head unintentionally, happened to see it.
He tilted his head in confusion.
The direction the battalion commander was heading seemed to indicate that the only destination was the Second Battalion's mess hall.
But didn't he say he wasn't going?
The canteen's private kitchens cost money, but the prices are cheaper than those of state-run restaurants outside. The ingredients are excellent, and the chefs are skilled.
To welcome his younger sister back, Qin Feiyang ordered four dishes and a soup.
The portions were huge; two people couldn't possibly finish it all.
Qin Hanshu sighed, "Isn't this a waste of food?"
Qin Feiyang smiled awkwardly; he was starting to regret his actions.
Just as he was wondering whether he should invite someone over to eat with him, Zhou Weiguang appeared.
Zhou Weiguang walked over, loosened the buttons on his military uniform, sat down, and said slowly, "I just happened to be passing by, so I came in to see if you've eaten yet."
Qin Feiyang said gratefully, "Luckily you thought of that, otherwise the cafeteria would have closed by now."
Qin Hanshu had already prepared a bowl and chopsticks for Zhou Weiguang.
"Brother Zhou, you've come at the perfect time! We were just worried about ordering too much food and wasting it... We're counting on you!"
Zhou Weiguang touched his swollen belly and felt a bit of pressure.
But when he looked up and met Qin Hanshu's bright eyes, he blurted out, "No problem, I'm feeling hungry."
