Chapter 117 Seeking Help

The next day, Lin Qingyu went to the shop as usual, as she planned to visit Zhang Chao again that day.

Let's see if they've come back yet; the restaurant still needs to stay open.

Li Xiuhua looked a little unwell, and Lin Qingyu, sitting at the counter, asked her with concern.

"Mom, what's wrong? You don't look well. Are you feeling unwell?"

Li Xiuhua hurriedly waved her hand: "No, no, I just didn't sleep well last night."

Lin Qingyu stood up again, walked to Li Xiuhua's side, and first reached out to touch her forehead.

"You don't have a fever. Is there anything else that's bothering you?"

"No, really. I got up last night, drank a glass of water, and then couldn't fall back asleep. Maybe it's because I'm getting old; I don't sleep soundly anymore."

Seeing that Li Xiuhua showed no other abnormalities, Lin Qingyu sat down with peace of mind.

After she finished packing, she thought she might as well go to Zhang Chao's house by herself, since it wasn't far away anyway.

She left Li Xiuhua to tend to the flowers and plants in the backyard while she carried the bags away by herself.

When she arrived, she knocked on the door again, but no one answered at first. Lin Qingyu was about to give up.

Fortunately, it wasn't hot in the hallway, so she wasn't too irritable and waited a little longer.

Then the iron gate was opened, and inside was a rather pretty lady.

"It's you! Come in and have a seat!"

"I'm so sorry to bother you, sister-in-law!"

The person who opened the door was Zhang Chao's wife, Wang Li. She was a very gentle person, and there was a five or six-year-old child in the house.

"Old Zhang! Qingyu is here, come out for a second!"

Lin Qingyu said somewhat embarrassedly, "I'm so sorry, I didn't have time to come before, and I only found out later that you had gone out."

Wang Li smiled gently and said, "It's alright, please sit down first. Old Zhang is busy in the kitchen, I'll go and call him out."

I poured her another glass of water. "Wait a moment!"

Lin Qingyu sat obediently on the sofa, her eyes scanning Zhang Chao's living room.

The place is well-maintained and looks very comfortable; Wang Li is truly a good wife.

Not long after, Zhang Chao came out. His hands were still wet, and he wiped them casually before sitting down opposite Lin Qingyu.

"What a rare customer you are, boss lady! How's business lately?"

Zhang Chao was still the same as always, chubby, and asked casually.

Lin Qingyu comforted herself, thinking that perhaps he genuinely didn't care about the restaurant's business.

She didn't continue the topic, but instead took out the things she had brought.

"Brother Zhang, these are pears from our hometown. My mother just brought them over a couple of days ago. Please give them to your wife and children to try!"

Lin Qingyu only brought some local specialties, which is understandable.

Zhang Chaoting disliked the practice of gift-giving, and it was precisely because he was stubborn that he lost his job at the state-run restaurant.

"She looks quite pretty, not bad!"

He picked one up and took a bite; it was sweet and juicy, truly delicious.

Then Lin Qingyu got to the point: "Brother Zhang, I came here mainly to apologize to you. I wasn't in the shop before, so I heard about what happened!"

Zhang Chao didn't say anything, and just kept eating the pear.

Lin Qingyu continued, "I wanted to come and apologize to you, but when I got here I found out you and your wife had gone out. I'm so sorry!"

Her attitude was sincere, and she didn't exaggerate. Her simple apology actually worked quite well for Zhang Chao.

Zhang Chao is a straightforward person who never does anything roundabout, which is why he couldn't make it in the industry before.

"These are all minor matters, it's alright!"

Lin Qingyu pressed further, "Brother Zhang, are you still willing to go back? The restaurant has been closed the whole time; it can't function without you!"

Zhang Chao tossed the pear core into the trash can, casually grabbed a cloth to wipe his hands, and then slowly spoke.

"I've already walked that way, how am I supposed to get back now?"

"You don't need to worry about anything else. Just go and be the head chef, Brother Zhang. As long as you're willing to come back, I believe everyone will welcome you!"

Zhang Chao didn't speak, but just smiled as he looked at Lin Qingyu.

Lin Qingyu understood and quickly extended an olive branch.

"If you're willing to go back, Brother Zhang, I'll give you a 10% raise. How about that?"

He nodded in satisfaction, saying, "That's all easy to arrange. The main problem is that I heard the person the boss contacted before... she was talking about..."

"Brother Zhang, you don't need to worry about that. That person has left. I mean, she left Xinshi City. She's gone to Hangzhou now, which is quite far away!"

Lin Qingyu was afraid he would get angry about this, so she quickly apologized again.

Fortunately, everything went smoothly, and Zhang Chao didn't make things too difficult for her.

Afterwards, Zhang Chao invited her to stay for dinner, and Wang Li also politely asked her to stay, so Lin Qingyu simply stayed for dinner.

Zhang Chao's youngest son looked at her timidly and quietly asked Wang Li.

"Mom, this auntie's belly is so big!"

Wang Li glanced at Lin Qingyu somewhat embarrassedly. The dining table was too small, and even if the child spoke softly, Lin Qingyu could still hear him.

She waved her hand dismissively, then smiled and asked the child.

"Little brother, Auntie has a baby in her tummy. Do you think it's a boy or a girl?"

The group fell silent. It's said that some children can see this, but they don't know how accurate that is.

The child pointed at Lin Qingyu's stomach with a finger, thought for a moment, and said, "It's a little girl, she's very happy!"

As soon as he finished speaking, the baby in his belly seemed to be echoing his words and suddenly moved violently.

The couple didn't seem to care about any of that; they just smiled and told the child to eat quickly.

However, Lin Qingyu was quite happy. She liked little girls. She wondered if Gu Shi preferred boys or girls.

After saying goodbye to Zhang Chao's family, she happily returned to the small restaurant.

When we were almost there, I also took a watermelon, because I didn't have a physical disability and didn't dare to take a big one.

As soon as Lin Qingyu entered the room, she had already figured out how to announce the good news, but then she saw Jiang Lili sitting at the table, still crying.

"This is……"

Lin Qingyu, carrying a watermelon, asked, while a group of people stood around Jiang Lili, all with angry expressions on their faces.

Li Xiuhua sat quietly to one side, watching without saying a word.

He only got up and took the watermelon from Lin Qingyu's hand when he saw her walk in.

"Why did you buy such a big watermelon? It's so heavy!"

Lin Qingyu shook her hand and said, "It's not heavy, it's alright, let's treat everyone."

Watermelons are a relatively expensive fruit, and most people can't afford to buy them.

At this moment, everyone in the store seemed to come to their senses, including Zhou Jiahui.

She jogged through the crowd, walked briskly to Li Xiuhua's side, and took the watermelon from her hand.

"Auntie, let me carry it. Should we put it in the kitchen, boss?"

Her eyes were red as she asked Lin Qingyu this question.

"What's going on here? What are you all doing gathered around here?"

Zhou Jiahui quickly answered, "That sister is so pitiful, we all feel so sorry for her!"
