Gu Shi thought he had misheard what Lin Qingyu said.
He was stunned for a moment before realizing that the person had indeed asked him for help.
He didn't know how to help Lin Qingyu. They were alone together, and this could easily lead to him being charged with indecent assault.
Lin Qingyu decided to keep a little distance from him. "Let's just go like this. I'm mainly worried that I might faint on the way. Thank you for your help!"
Seeing that she said that, Gu Shi went along with her and said, "Then let's go!"
Lin Qingyu secretly breathed a sigh of relief; at least the person in front of her wasn't too domineering.
The village clinic is located in a relatively central part of the village, next to the school, and it takes about ten minutes to walk there.
When the two arrived, the school was already deserted. Nowadays, most students go home for lunch, except for a few children from other villages and the school teachers who stay in the cafeteria.
It was called a canteen, but it was nothing more than a thatched hut where you could cook some food.
The thatched house is right next to the village clinic.
"Dr. He, could you please take a look at Qingyu? She's fallen and tripped."
The weather was hot, the small clinic was stuffy, and it felt even more crowded with the arrival of the two people.
Dr. He Jinhua, wearing reading glasses, was dozing off in his chair when he heard the sound and looked up.
He is over fifty years old and is the only doctor in the village.
"Why is it the Lin family girl? Where did she fall and get so much blood?"
Dr. He was one of the few people in the village who didn't look down on Gu Shi.
Lin Qingyu stood timidly behind Gu Shi and said weakly, "I accidentally fell on the big banyan tree at the west end of the village, that's how I got hurt!"
It wasn't that she was being dramatic; she simply hadn't eaten all morning and was starving.
"How can someone this big accidentally bump into a tree?"
With a stern face, Dr. He said a few words to Lin Qingyu while still using disinfectant to treat her wound.
The wound wasn't very deep, but I don't know why it was bleeding so much; Dr. He didn't even take out a bandage.
While I was applying the bandage, a shout came from outside.
"Xiaoyu! Xiaoyu, are you inside?"
Lin Qingyu frowned.
No one made a sound in the room; everyone was quietly doing what they were supposed to do.
Feng Chao called out twice, but received no response, so he simply strode into the clinic.
"Xiaoyu, what's wrong? Are you alright?"
Before Lin Qingyu could speak, Doctor He glared at him.
"What's all the noise about! Can't you see I'm bandaging her up!"
Feng Chao was scolded and didn't dare to continue speaking. He Jinhua was the only doctor in the village, so his words carried a lot of weight.
An eerie silence fell over the small clinic for a moment.
A few minutes later, after Dr. He finished applying the bandage, he instructed Lin Qingyu, "Remember not to get it wet when you get back. It will be fine in a few days!"
Then he said to the other two, "Hurry up and leave! Don't disturb my sleep!"
Lin Qingyu thanked Doctor He, and Gu Shi also thanked him politely before they walked out together.
Only Feng Chao pulled Lin Qingyu around, looking her over from left to right.
"Xiaoyu, are you alright?"
Lin Qingyu really wanted to slap her. Couldn't she see the bandage on her forehead? Was she alright?
I really don't know what she was thinking in her previous life.
She didn't stop walking as she left the clinic, and said calmly, "I'm fine, I just tripped and fell."
Lin Qingyu's face was pale, and she didn't look like she was alright at all. Gu Shi handed her his water bottle.
"I haven't tried it before, you should have a sip first!"
Feng Chao seemed to only just notice Gu Shi, and impatiently pushed him away, saying, "What are you doing? Stay away from Xiao Yu, she won't drink your water!"
After walking along a dirt road, they arrived at the school gate, but Feng Chao's actions forced them to stop.
However, Lin Qingyu bypassed him, reached out and took Gu Shi's military water bottle, and said thank you.
Seeing that Lin Qingyu was completely ignoring him, Feng Chao jumped up in anger and said, "No? Qingyu, how can you drink someone else's water?"
After taking a sip of water, Lin Qingyu felt her mouth was slightly moist. She tidied the braid at the back of her head and said indifferently.
"We're getting married soon, why would we want anyone else?"
Upon hearing this, Feng Chao became anxious and excitedly tried to grab her hand.
Gu Shi stood expressionlessly in front of Lin Qingyu, blocking Feng Chao's view like a mountain.
At this moment, Feng Chao didn't care about the size difference between himself and Gu Shi, and shouted, "Get out of my way!"
After saying that, he reached out to push Gu Shi, but unfortunately he couldn't budge him.
Seeing that he still dared to make a move, Gu Shi directly threw Feng Chao over his shoulder, knocking the frail Feng Chao to the ground, and causing his glasses to fall off.
Ouch!
Feng Chao fell flat on his face, in excruciating pain, but he tried to endure it, letting out a cry of pain as his face wore a mask of agony.
"Gu Shi, don't push your luck!"
Feng Chao was still lying on the ground. Without his glasses, he looked even more timid and weak. When he pointed at Gu Shi, he even pointed to a tree stump.
Gu Shi still didn't speak, and Feng Chao became increasingly anxious, "Xiao Yu, say something!"
Lin Qingyu walked out from behind Gu Shi and looked at Feng Chao on the ground. She really thought about all the most painful things from her previous life before she managed to hold back her laughter.
For example, after drinking, Feng Chao forced himself on her despite her being heavily pregnant, resulting in her losing the baby.
Whenever she thinks back to this incident, no matter how miserable Feng Chao was, Lin Qingyu would never laugh at him, not even with a single mocking laugh.
She patted Gu Shi's arm, handed the kettle back to him, and said to Feng Chao.
