Chapter 228 Reencounter with Childhood Friend at the Restaurant

After announcing this, Lin Qingyu was also hungry, so she simply went into the kitchen to get something to eat.

Several chefs are preparing ingredients, and a pastry chef is steaming buns and mantou.

Lin Qingyu walked over to Zhang Chao's side; there was still one seat left for him.

The kitchen was filled with the sound of knives hitting the cutting board, which was noisy, but enough for Zhang Chao to hear what Lin Qingyu was saying.

"Brother Zhang, here's another fifty yuan for you!"

Zhang Chao didn't say anything, he just glanced at her.

Lin Qingyu knew what Zhang Chao was thinking, so she simply explained, "You're the mainstay of the restaurant, and your family must have a lot of expenses!"

Zhang Chao paused briefly while chopping vegetables, then nodded slightly. If Lin Qingyu hadn't been watching him out of the corner of her eye, she probably wouldn't have noticed.

"Brother Zhang, don't feel pressured, you deserve all of this!"

When Zhang Chao heard Lin Qingyu speak, he finally turned to look at her and said earnestly, "Thank you."

Lin Qingyu smiled and nodded; Zhang Chao had finally agreed.

In the entire city of Xinshi, you won't find another restaurant that pays her more than the restaurant she runs.

Working here for a few years, wouldn't I earn more than those government jobs (like being a teacher)?

It's just that they don't have the same honors as teachers. Basically, everyone thinks that being a teacher is a very good profession.

But from these people's perspective, being a teacher doesn't earn them much money.

Lin Qingyu quickly cooked a bowl of noodles. She picked and chose in the back kitchen, lifted the lids of various basins and bowls, and finally scooped out a few spoonfuls of chili peppers and added spicy chicken.

Then I found the pork cracklings, put them all into the noodle bowl, stirred them, and a bowl of mixed noodles was ready.

Lin Qingyu sat at the counter, enjoying her meal immensely.

The restaurant sells breakfast, and there were several tables of customers sitting in the lobby. At this moment, the curtain was lifted, and another customer walked in.

Lin Qingyu was so engrossed in eating her noodles that she didn't bother to greet the guests, so there was no need for her to do anything.

Unexpectedly, the person walked straight to the counter, where Zhou Jiahui happened to see him and went over to ask him.

"Hello ma'am, would you like something to eat?"

I didn't expect that when I got closer, I would find out that this person was the landlady's friend from last night.

Li Juan smiled at Zhou Jiahui and then pointed at Lin Qingyu.

Before she could speak, Lin Qingyu looked up as if sensing something, her bright red lips catching Li Juan's eye.

Li Juan couldn't help but laugh and said, "Qingyu, you still love spicy food so much! There are so many chilies in your bowl, don't get a stomachache!"

Lin Qingyu remained calm, found a handkerchief, dampened it, and wiped her mouth, looking slightly better.

"Juanzi, what brings you here? Is the chef at home not satisfying your appetite?"

She stopped eating, came out from behind the counter, and warmly greeted Li Juan.

"Come on, let's go sit in the backyard, it's peaceful there!"

As he spoke, he pulled the person along to the small backyard, where the chrysanthemums were still in bloom, vying for attention, but the smell was rather strong.

Achoo! Achoo!

Upon smelling the odor, Li Juan sneezed several times in a row.

Lin Qingyu quickly waved her hand and said, "Oh dear, I'm so sorry, the fragrance in the backyard is just too strong. Why don't we go to the front hall instead?"

Li Juan simply couldn't stand the smell. Her garden never had so many flowers with such a strong odor.

She couldn't stand it any longer and awkwardly covered her nose, saying, "Fine, achoo!"

Seeing this, Lin Qingyu quickly pulled the person away, as Li Juan's behavior was not a good thing!

Fortunately, Li Juan's symptoms were relieved a lot after she entered the lobby.

She kept rubbing her nose, and Lin Qingyu poured her a bowl of hot tea.

"Have something hot to drink, that should make you feel better."

"Thanks!"

Li Juan took the porcelain bowl and placed it back on the table.

She was dressed like a young lady from a wealthy family, in a white dress and a white coat.

His originally dark face suddenly became very white, though I don't know how he did it.

Lin Qingyu had never really paid attention to Li Juan's appearance before, but after taking a closer look, she realized that Li Juan was much fairer than before.

Not only her face, but also her exposed arms and wrists were very white.

However, his facial features remained the same: small, squinting eyes and a wide, grinning mouth.

To avoid an awkward atmosphere, Lin Qingyu took the initiative to ask, "What would you like to eat, Juanzi? Freshly steamed buns, or would you like noodles? I'll cook them for you!"

Li Juan simply waved her hand: "No need, I've already had breakfast at home. I came here to find you."

"What if I'm not there? Juanzi, you're too honest. In the future, just go to Gu Shi's brick factory to find me. Even if I'm not there, you can still get my news when you go. This restaurant might not be the same!"

Lin Qingyu explained with a smile, as if the two of them were still very good friends, just like when they were children.

Li Juan said nonchalantly, "Anyway, you're here. I just wanted to catch up with you, but I can never seem to get a hold of you."

"Hey! I thought it was something serious. You should have told me sooner! I would have come to find you!"

Li Juan then suggested, "Why don't we find a quiet place? Your restaurant is so popular that we can't even have a peaceful conversation."

Lin Qingyu nodded in agreement: "You're right."

Before Li Juan could speak, Lin Qingyu made her decision.

"Let's go to your place. It's quiet and has a nice environment. Most importantly, your cook is quite good!"

Since Lin Qingyu had said so, Li Juan naturally wouldn't refuse anymore.

Not long after, the two returned to the small villa together.

Li Juan's home remains the same as before, with luxurious decorations and extravagant furniture.

Just like the first time Lin Qingyu came here, she wandered around, touching and looking at everything.

"Juanzi! Your home is truly an eye-opener! I never even imagined having these things. Just one of these vases could probably buy a cow in Pear Blossom Village!"

Li Juan glanced at Lin Qingyu with a mixture of smugness and disdain.

"It's alright, your brother-in-law took care of everything."

Li Juan is a few months older than Lin Qingyu, and this is the first time she has mentioned this so-called brother-in-law.

"Really? It's been so long since I've seen my brother-in-law. Is he in business now? I hardly ever see him all day."

Lin Qingyu's barrage of questions caught Li Juan off guard, as she rarely mentioned that person.

"Your brother-in-law is such a busy man, I only see him a few times a year, never mind, let's not talk about him!"

Lin Qingyu pressed on, "I'm not trying to criticize you, Juanzi, but after all these years, haven't you thought about giving his family a grandson?"

These words somehow struck a nerve with Li Juan. She didn't say anything, just looked down at the carpet.

The two sat side by side on the sofa in the living room, with a peach-colored rug in front of them.

Like the other aunties in Pear Blossom Village, Lin Qingyu began to persuade Li Juan.
