Chapter 84 The Scumbag Comes to Eat at a Small Restaurant

Is anyone home?

A slightly chubby man with a full beard strode into Lin Qingyu's small restaurant.

"Who are you?"

Lin Qingyu had a very deep impression of men with full beards, especially those who were a bit fat.

"I came here to apply for a chef's job. My aunt told me that a restaurant is going to open here?"

It turned out that this man was the chef introduced by the old lady; he was the one from the state-run restaurant, named Zhang Chao.

"Uncle Zhang! Please have a seat, I'll be right there!"

Lin Qingyu gestured for people to sit down and took the enamelware she was carrying to the backyard.

Gu Shi was rinsing the mop when Lin Qingyu went over to call him to come out with her.

She was quite scared herself, so she specifically asked Zhao Xiaobao and Gu Shi to come and clean up together.

Just then, Zhao Xiaobao encountered some trouble with his schooling. The school he applied to after the high school entrance exam was in the county town. If he wanted to study in the city, he would have to find some connections.

"This is our boss, Mr. Gu."

"Uncle Zhang, you can share your thoughts, suggestions for the restaurant, the kitchen, the menu, and wages—we can discuss all of these!"

The group sat down at a table and began to discuss the matter.

The process went relatively smoothly, mainly because Lin Qingyu was quite generous with the salary; she had heard of the restaurant before and it had a very good reputation.

Then a few more people arrived one after another, and they all had a very good conversation.

Unexpectedly, all the people introduced by those old ladies came, and some even brought their good friends along.

There was only one young girl, the old lady's granddaughter, the one who was nineteen and still unmarried.

She has no interest in this field; she has already taken the college entrance exam twice without passing, and plans to try again next year.

Therefore, Lin Qingyu did not try to persuade him to stay.

In the end, it was decided that the restaurant would have a total of three chefs and seven waiters.

This isn't particularly large; there are many restaurants in the city, especially privately owned ones, that are much larger.

Lin Qingyu informed everyone of the opening date and that they should come a day or two in advance to prepare. There are only two days left.

The day arrived quickly. Lin Qingyu went to open the door first, and the surroundings were as lively as ever.

Everyone arrived on time and started preparing for the opening, including the opening activities and complimentary dishes.

This time, Lin Qingyu dared not take anything out of her spatial storage. There were many people in the store, and she might be discovered that the quantities didn't match.

So she could only secretly take some unimportant things, like seasonings.

Everything was ready quickly, and we were just waiting to open the next day.

Unexpectedly, on the opening day, many people came to give flower baskets and other opening gifts, all of whom Lin Qingyu did not recognize.

One of them, the largest, was marked with the name "Bai Shi" (白氏), presumably a gift from the former homeowner, an elderly woman.

I didn't expect this person to be so loyal.

Some of the others were businessmen whom Gu Shigang had befriended, while others were family members of the cooks and waiters.

In short, the opening of a small restaurant was a great success.

After the firecrackers stopped, Zhou Jiahui, the store's "pillar of business," took over the promotion.

She was handpicked by the store; she's a very eloquent young woman, and many customers come in after hearing her pitch.

The shop quickly filled up, but tables couldn't be set up in front of the shop because the management was quite strict, mainly because there were so many people.

Many people said they were willing to wait because the aroma wafting from the kitchen was too tempting.

The place was packed with people, so Gu Shi also took on the role of a waiter serving dishes, and Zhao Xiaobao was not spared either.

He washed dishes in the kitchen; although he was tired, he didn't complain at all.

It wasn't that Gu Shi's conversation with him last time had any effect; he didn't have any malicious intent to begin with, but Gu Shi had simply brought him to his senses.

The restaurant was bustling with activity. Although there were people stopping to watch, it was several times more lively than the small restaurant it used to be.

Lin Qingyu and the others were busy and didn't notice that several young students had walked in.

They were chatting and laughing; the man was enthusiastic, and the woman was lively—they were very youthful and energetic.

One of them was just like everyone else until he saw Lin Qingyu moving between the tables and realized it.

This is another restaurant owned by Lin Qingyu.

So if he had held onto Lin Qingyu tightly back then, this huge restaurant would be his now?

Feng Chaotian shamelessly indulged in fantasies, her eyes fixed on Lin Qingyu's figure.

He didn't look away until Lin Qingyu walked into the kitchen.

However, he then saw Gu Shi again, so wherever Lin Qingyu was, that annoying Gu Shi would be there too.

If it weren't for Gu Shi's intervention, he would be the one busy serving the dishes right now!

Feng Chao started daydreaming again.

It wasn't long before it was their turn. They were a group of college students with little savings; they had only heard that the restaurant was opening today and that they were getting a lot of freebies.

They were just there to collect freebies, though they were just a cucumber, a tomato, and a pastry.

Five or six people ordered only two cold dishes. Rice was free today, so everyone filled a bowl.

For reasons unknown, Feng Chao ordered two more meat dishes for himself.

One shrimp, one steamed fish.

His companions were stunned; they had never seen Feng Chao so generous.

However, when the dishes were served, no one dared to eat the food that Feng Chao had ordered, and they waited for Feng Chao to call them to eat.

Unexpectedly, he acted as if he didn't see everyone waiting for him, and ate from beginning to end, finishing the whole fish and a plate of stir-fried shrimp.

Although no one blamed Feng Chao, everyone felt the same way.
